The Perfect MMO, imo.

EVE Online with Tabula Rasa's combat system, Planetside's Vehicles (except BFRs),  and DAoC's sense of Realm Pride.

Take everything EVE Online does, translate it to a Large Planet with multiple LandMasses and a wealth of conquerable Cities and Outposts, and install an Action-based Combat system.

voila. the Perfect MMO.

Yes thta sounds absolutely fantastic to me, but make sure the fighting animations actually look awesome, and that the player doens't have a square hitbox infront of them, make their swords the actual hit boxes and I am hooked like a dead fish in the nile..whatever that means ^_^

You might want to check out Earthrise if you havent already.  Not exactly what you want but it, from what we've been told, seems like the best bet for you.

Hmmm... for the perfect sci-fi mmo, that's not a bad start, although I prefer the fps combat system from Planetside.  The vehicles are a must, but I'd also like to see the command system incorporated, as well.  Still, I'd definitely prefer most other aspects from Tabula Rasa (leveling system, weaponry, skills, etc).  (RIP Tabula Rasa  - may you find life in the private sector.)  In my perfect game, I wouldn't do away with the interplanetary space system.  All the support-side trimmings of Eve are a must, but to ramp up newbie interest and participation and create a more engaging game at all levels, I'd aim to incorporate an rts/space-sim combat system more akin to Allegiance.  Of course, this is just the beginning.

    Actually

That is a hell of an idea... Just get a few devs from DAoC and NCSoft to sell TR to SOE. Then fire everyone working for SOE, use that money to buy Turbine. The one man left from SOE that bought Turbine then would be placed in a black hole somewhere. Turbine then creates the MMO.

    Bingo.

    add

      BioWare dev quote below

"The best MMORPG ever would have the fluid tactical combat of City of Heroes, the Elder's Game of (pre-NGE) Star Wars Galaxies, and the continuing story arcs of Asheron's Call 1 (*toots own horn*).

Genre is less important to me. I like lots of things, though I've had enough of all the ninth-generation Tolkein ripoffs, k thx. "

    Pretty much TOR

Jumpgate Evolution is going to have an EVE style (or JGC style) game with controls of a shooter...you have to manually fly your ship around and aim your shots, can be done with a joystick. The PvP and PvE is also going to focus on large scale BSG/Star Wars style fights where you have mother ships flying and hundreds of players/mobs in between in a huge battle...and their going to have Luke Skywalker style objectives to take out on the enemy mother ships and stuff...

Has a lot of potential to be extremely fun...I can only imagine a 100v100 mass PvP with everyone aiming their shots manually.
