Importance of Crafting?

hi

Been playing AO and enjoying it so far.  I have a lvl24staff.  My Question is how important is crafting in this game.  Will i miss out on the best gear and other stuff later for not crafting?  And what is the most useful crafting skill?  With so much to craft it is a little overwheming and if crafting is a must i'd like to focus on the most useful crafting skills that help will me down the road.

    End game gear must be crafted, there is no other way to get it. Also some key utility stuff must be crafted, like special potion serving as key to end game zone or licences to restart repeateble quests. Some quests require you to be crafter too but they only need very low level in crafting.

    Everything in the game is tradeable on the market so even if you do not craft it yourself, someone else will sell it to you.

    As in all MMOs, crafting is money sink and only brings money from the associated trading or from staying well ahead of the herd.

    You do not need to be crafter. My lvl 103 div 1 freeloader guy is not.

    i think you can get the crafted items at the market.. BUT the price is so damn high.... also there are only a few supplies...

    yeah i agree some items in the market are high.. so the importance of crafting is very important.. most of the items you need is by crafting... just like Tyrrhon said most of the end game items are in crafting... so its best that you always craft items...

    I wouldnt say you need crafting, just doing dungeons will get you good gear and cash. But crafting can make you some nice cash and is the best way to get you max enhanced gear.

    But many people dont do too much crafting. And just do quests and dungeons.

     nearly every "normal" (read: not Item Mall) item in the game that you can buy from the Market is either crafted, or used in crafting.

    personally, I don't craft very much. I save up the crafting materials that I get while questing/hunting and when I get a good sized stack of them, I sell on the Market.

    I find very often that when I start putting stuff up on the Market, the crafting materials are bought just as fast as I can put them up. it's very common for me to put up a stack of say 30 of a particular material, and then 15 of them are purchased before I can finish putting the next item up.

    so a lot of people are crafting, from my viewpoint.

    for me crafting is a way of getting items without much expense.

    Yes, I believe it is useful if youre tired of hunting items and just make your own. It think it is cheaper to buy ingredients rather than buy the item itself and if your skill is high level the higher the + that you can make.

    so the high level gear as in weapons and armor is all player crafted?

    I have a level 20ish toon in atlantica, but never really gave it a good try, if crafting is the end game though as opposed to raiding... Im rather interested in that.

    i have the same question guys regarding on this topic? is it really important, crafting skills like food, medicine and so on...do i need to learn all those things in this game?what if i dont learn it because i want to do quest only and level up my characters and mercs, what would happen?

    i havent tried crafting even just for once. anyway...i guess it is pretty much significant in the game. :D

    thanks for the tips guys!!! but what do you  think about the medicine crafting and food crafting what would be your best choice of crafting skills you would prefer?...

    the best would be crafting armors and weapons.... meds and foods are sold at a cheaper price compared to equips...
