Casual Servers?

It was my understanding that WoW would have Casual servers,They would limit the amount of time each player could be online to 30hrs a week.

Can any of the CB or Stress testers confirm this?Even if you are not a tester yet still believe you know the answer from lurking about on thier official site please share your information.

Thanks ahead for any light shed on this subject.image

I'm not positive but I think the only types of servers will be PvP and PvE (though there will be some PvP on the PvE server).

What they've done to accommodate casual gamers is include the rest system.

I heard nothing of the sort. It is possible to do that but unpractical.

Picture this: "You play 30 hrs in 6 days with 1 days left. Your friend decides to start playing and you wanna hang out, show him/her the ropes. Will you tell him/her "I cant play for another 1 day since I reached the max already"

That doesn't even begin to sound good nor wanted by someone who defines casual as 1-5 hrs playtime a day but yet has no control IF servers like that did exist. your time is dictated...

    ..NO thanks! image

Even on normal servers one can play as casual as they want without the possibility of the account locking you out after you reach a certain amount of "Online Time".

Perhaps the "rest" system could entail having to stay in a non-combat zone? I mean.. everyone needs a bit of R&R after a hard day fighting the Horde. On top of that, it could encourage players to try tradeskills.

There was serious talk about this early on in beta. The actual means of enforcing it was to be the rest system. If you played about 30 hours a week you would get good XP. After that you would get nearly nothing.

Since this was to be coded into all servers there was a tremendous amount of outrage from the beta community. They were having to log in a character and play for a few hours, log out and bring in an alt. The compromise Blizzard went with is the current rest system. For someone who plays a couple of hours a day they get double the normal XP during that time.

Yeah. Blizzard has said that they will only include PvE and PvP servers. And possibly an RP server, but they are still looking into that possibility.
