In regards to question 1, all of the buildings in WoW's cities are accesible at one time. If you try to go at midnight, some of the less important buildings, like the housing districts, will be closed and locked. But if you go in the middle of the day, all the buildings will be open, but some only open at night and some only open at day/
In regards to question 2, when I last played, there were three different peices of money. The copper being the least valuable and most common, then silver, then gold being the most valuable and least common. I think it breaks down like EQ did their money system. 100 copper = 1 silver 100 silver = 1 gold(I'm guessing) 1000 copper = 1 gold(I'm guessing) I am not quite sure, but that's how I think the breakdown for money works.
It's 100 copper to the silver .... for the gold I'm not sure ... haven't gotten one yet ..but I'd be willing to bet that it's 100 silver to the gold ...
So 10000 copper to one Gold? ... I guess I better start saving my copper
Yeah, and just imagine: Mounts that you get at level 40 cost you 100 gold for the cheapest one. Plus you have to pay for the training to use it. Maybe WoW will rethink it's money system to make it a bit easier to get money you need for things.
Warlocks and Paladins get their mounts for free, aka quest rewards. However, warlocks are the 2nd most expensive class to play so the 80 gold they save goes to all the pet skills they have to buy. and yes the money system is in increments of 100.

they sure do exisit. I have seen some screenshots of chars with those hats but have none to link.
Great! Thanks!
Can't be a *real* wizard without the proper kit...
I wanted one too!
...so I went to the auction house in Orgrimmar but alas they didn't even have any cloth head pieces, period. Must be a higher level item.
There's a couple of NPCs walking around in the Undercity with those hats on. If I go back that way I'll take a picture and put it up.
I might stay in Orc land for a while though ... I love me the Orc town ... zug zug!!

So to sum up,
10000 copper = 100 silver = 1 gold
Mounts= fscking expensive.
