End game questions.

So I was a huge fan of DAoC, not so huge a fan of WoW, and decided to sit out the WAR launch to see exactly where the PvE panned out between those two mentioned games end-game wise.

My questions are:

1) For the biggest most active guilds, right down to the lone most casual player, did RvR really pan out to be the most purposeful gameplay at maximum level?

2) Based on that last question, where does 'purposeful' gameplay fall end-game? Something akin to the purple hunting of WoW, or 'realm rank'-equivalent of DAoC?

3) If end game is item-centric, and done through PvE rather than RvR; are the top items acquired through grouping or raiding?

4) If there is raiding, is DKP used? Does DKP exist at all amongst the most active guilds?

5) Are the weapon DPS, and armor AF values fixed? Only ex-DAoC players may get what I'm trying to say here. In DAoC, all end-game weapons were 16.5 DPS no matter whether you got it from a crafter or dragon raid. Same for Armor except it was determined by AF.

Did this fixed system make it into WAR, or is it like WoW where there's variance even in items of equal level?

Thanks for any responses. Would appreciate as many answers and views as possible before I jump on board.

    1.  RvR has not completely panned out to be the most important factor in gameplay.  Much of this has to do with answers to the other questions you have.

    2.  Gameplay is a combination of the two.  The purple hunting of WoW is both within the PvE and RvR game through drops off of instanced boss mobs, and from chests in keep seiges, and from chests in pqs in city capture game.  All of these items have renown rank requirements which equates to a certain amount of hours spent in scenarios and running around in the rvr lakes.

    3.  They don't have 40 person raids.  The larges warband is 24 people (4 groups of 6 each).  While a WB can do the PQ's in places like bastion stairs the real bosses are instanced affairs for 6 people.

    4.  Not that I know of, primarily because its not a raid system, yet.  Right now its need on use and typically guilds will send a healthy mix of classes into the instances hoping that an item for one of the represented classes will drop, which does not always happen.  Have done a couple instance runs where no one got anythign because the drops were for classes not present.  And of course they carried over the idiotic bop rules from wow and other games.

    5.  Far from fixed.  Skill, like in WoW, is not important.  What matters is what gear you have.  That is the only thing that matters.

Not yet, but they are working very hard to keep it moving in the right direction.
    2) Based on that last question, where does 'purposeful' gameplay fall end-game? Something akin to the purple hunting of WoW, or 'realm rank'-equivalent of DAoC?
It is both because you need high Renown Rank to wear the best gear and the best gear comes from City Sieging. Which requires both pvp and pve.

    3) If end game is item-centric, and done through PvE rather than RvR; are the top items acquired through grouping or raiding?
The top two sets in the game are from city siege which is running PQs over in the city and then killing the king, obviously both are pve based but in order to wear them and get access to the city you have to have a high enough renown rank.
    4) If there is raiding, is DKP used? Does DKP exist at all amongst the most active guilds?
DKP is not used because the top dungeon in the game is 6 man and all the fortress and keep raids are done through in game scoreboard rolls like a vegas system.

You will see a lot of similarities. You will notice the best axe in the game for a Black Orc has the same exact dps as the best sword in the game for a Swordmaster and so on. You don't craft armor though in this game so it all comes from drops or influence rewards.

id just like to thank the 2 people that replied to this thread because i resubbed to WAR last week and i have been wondering what exactly the end game consists of because all ive seen is random groups of people doing open world PvP which does look like fun but i was rather hoping there was a bit more to it.

Rvr depends increidbly on what server you are on from my experience.

My orginal server had virtually no rvr despite a steady population.  A transfer to gorfang however and we have lots of rvr, including fort takes. ON my server rvr is the focus.  Though most ppl make an effort to get gear from dungeons.

Gear is NOT  nearly as determining in pvp as it was in wow.  though PVe is largely gear ruled because of the warding system war uses.  ( u dont need to worry about that till t4).

Group tactics and coordination however are what really seperate the good from the great, not just individual skill.
