Customer Service Sucks (acclaim)

musifugermusifuger Member UncommonPosts: 11

Hello all i rarely get motivated enough to post, but today i am pissed off.

I have been playing acclaim f2p games for a long while on and off now. So i figure that i will try to buy some coins and burn some in a few games. I decided to get a membership (that discounts 30%) off of their coin purchases. My membership transaction fails and the coins go through. I contact customer support and they basically are helpful for 1-2 emails until they find out the transaction failed. I ask them if i repurchase a membership if they will fix my coin purchase to reflect this. The response i get is slightly rude telling me obvious facts that when i purchase a membership everything will be discounted after that. So i send a letter back telling them that their customer service is bad and that they lost a customer etc.... (politely also)

Now am i overreacting ? It was only 6$ refund but the principle of the matter is at stake AND for the same reason its only 6 freakin dollars if they help someone then the customer is happy and willing to spend more money?

thanks for your input on the matter.

It's not something limited to Acclaim or MMORPG's in general. Look at any company, you'll find an idiot customer service rep.

Good job. You made me have an aneurysm when I tried to understand what you just said.

I have no experiences with acclaim, but most MMO companies treat their customers like dirt. I dont think you overreacted. Companies should be more respectful towards their customers.

Whenever you deal with companies online be it MMO's or other. You can always call your credit card company and have the amount charged back if you didn't get what you paid for. The burden of proof will lie on the other party to prove you wrong. That's why i loathe prepaid game cards and love using mastercard/visa. They screw me over and it's an instant charge back.

yeah i would have my credit card refund the money if it was something i paid for, but a failed transaction didnt charge me. The problem i guess was that acclaims website said transaction completed. That  being the case id expect their help. Anyways glad to know it wasnt just overreaction.

    thanks for the info guys.

perhaps their customer service just take what they favoured into consideration or they are so busy with rush of claims

  • musifugermusifuger Member UncommonPosts: 11

ayy but being too busy to help is the very definition of bad customer service no ?

and it was to their benefit to have gone in my favor they were gaining an extra 25$ purchase (as i told them in 3 previious emails) for a refund that should have been mine in the first place?

honestly i was planning on setting myself up for premium memberships for the year, after a test run of the membership and 1 month premium, but screw it now as i will never purchase another cent from them. I guess its a fair trade off though 6 measley dollars of something that should have been mine for roughly 240$'s of buisness and a happy customer.

PS. sorry to of transfered any of my animosity for acclaim onto you if it seemed that way as that was not my intention (: my anger was just rekindled.

Welcome to the world of MMO customer service, where it is by default BAD and even WORSE for free to play MMOs!

I'm afraid this is something you're just going to have to live with if you want to play MMOs.

I know 2 moons is a potion spamming game... you litterally used 100's of potions a day.  You need many in your bags.   You can only stack potions in stacks of 5 however and you have to manually spam your potions... which means you end up filling your bags with potions... UNLESS... you decide to buy thier special potions from the item mall which will auto spam for you and stack in stacks of 99.      I understand the need to make money but that was just too much for me.

I left 2moons with probably 35 bucks worth of acclaim coins unused.    If you only lost 6 bucks I'd count your blessings and run!

    So the story is:

You buy points -> You contact CS and tell them that the price of your coins is too high -> Now you find out that your membership purchase failed -> You tell them that you pay for a membership when they give you the coins for membership price now.

Maybe Im old fashioned but that wont work. Dont think any CS in the world will give you a discount based by simple word of you. They would be morons when they allow that.

Only thing I tink you can complain would be

The response i get is slightly rude  *snip*

and slightly rude can be a lot.

ayy i understand your way of looking at it, but just the fact i was willing to purchase the 25$ membership was in their benefit. I also think that customer supports goal should be to make the customer happier then when they called/wrote etc...

And i really like 9dragons atm only real kung fu comparable mmo reallly, sigh but principles will hold me back from ever spending more on it.

Still pissed about the matter so any answer i give will be atleast slightly biased

    thanks for the comments though
