POLL - 2/3rds of >720 testers think Darkfall is the best MMO around today

    If 67% think it is the best game out there, that means 67% of the beta testers who answered that poll would buy the game at release. I don't know if 67% is a high retention rate or not from a beta. Only figure I have to compare to is Aion that claimed 90% of their open beta testers bought the game.

    You could also turn it around and say that 1/3 of the betaplayers were disappointed (assuming they were fans to begin with) if you are so inclined. :)

    Gee at that rate by April/May they might actually have enough players to property run a beta test

    If I had to pull a number out of my ass (which seems to be popular around here ) I would estimate maybe 5000 testers, but your number might be right.

    Most people in the beta are hardcore PvP'ers looking for a sandbox game. They like Darkfall. What a surprise.

    The community is biased and its obvious. That is not a bad thing at all, its just natural. The data from the poll would be about of the same importance as someone posting in these forums what game are you most looking forward too or posting somewhere on this website what your favorite genre of games is.



     

    Another reason to make the poll useless is the OP said that data was from 400 people in 4 hours. You mean out of lets say 2k testers that 20-25% voted within 4 hours of the poll being open? I find that data very hard to believe... you'd think they would be playing ;)

    Just curious... why attack and get so hostile with EnolaGay, but not mdkman?

     

    If you numbers are to be used as "Fact" then:

    EnolaGay was off by a factor of 2.  

    mdkman was off by a factor of 20! 

     

    Wouldn't it seem logical to be more upset at the poster with the largest factor of incorrect information?  Perhaps you could explain that disparity?

    That is about the maximum number I have seen suggested from those trying to be serious about the topic. 

    I've seen as low as 1200, but I do think it's quite a bit higher than that.

    I think we can pretty much all agree (well almost all) that they do NOT have 50-60k Beta players right now.

     

    If I had to guess it would be in that 2000 - 4000 range, or approx. 3,000 Beta Testers currently.   Not a bad start... hopefully they will increase that number by a factor of 10 to try and get a pretty close idea to what they can expect on a live server.

     

    Meaning around 10k users concurrently logged in with more waiting to get in.  Users constantly logging on and off by the hundreds.  The server would support around 30-50k accounts created on it.  So with around 30k testers they should be able to get a pretty good idea of how realistic the 10k concurrent users goal is.

     

    My feeling is that they will be adjusting that number downward for Release.  Keeping the number lower will help to stave off problems that manifest themselves with a higher server cap.  Once the game is up and running and they've gotten the bulk of the launch issues under control, then they could look into raising the number to a higher amount again.

     

    That's my guess on what will unfold anyway.

    Actually, unless there is an official post from AV stating how many people are in the "beta", then everything is a guess.  Now, THAT'S a FACT

    To be honest, regardless of how many are in, it's all a matter of "too little, too late" if they plan on a Feb 25th launch.

    WOW's animation is better than DF, no question.

    DF's overall graphics are better than WOW, no question.

    artwork is super iffy because unlike the above 2 things, which can be measured objectively, through frames/sec and polygon count/texture resolution/shader use/etc, artwork/art direction is pretty much completely subjective.

    FWIW i think WOW's art style is ass, but that's just me. plenty of people like it though.

    I've played this game and I can tell you right now whoever these 400 people are -- they are total idiots. Most likely some of the most die hard fanatics out there which is most likely the case since Aventurine let in nothing but fanboy guilds.

    Put up a poll like this to the general public and 99.9% of everyone would say the game is total garbage

    That doesn't sound good ... but ... I'm going to wait to judge until release.

    It's like judging a leaked movie before they add special effects or have all the scenes in place.

    All that this poll does is show that the majority of the DF beta testers are having fun, wich is of course very positive for DF.

    The poll results mean very little. If you would hold this same poll for another new game, such as Aion, the results would be the same. 65% of those would vote Aion, and then the other poll options would be around 10%.

    And exactly the same (but in favor of WoW) would happen if you do a poll like this on a WoW forum when a new WoW expansion is released.

    There can never be a best MMO, since people all have different opinions.
