The game is already well past decent right *now*. More like somewhere between awesome and best MMO ever.
is it perfect? of course not.
that said, it's less buggy and more stable than most of the recent big name MMO releases in the past 12 months.
That being said, DF also has far less people in beta than any other commercial MMO release. This makes it far less taxing on the servers which would also reduce server lag. Wait until the game actually releases and if all of their applied testers try to play. Then we will see how "less buggy and stable" it will be.
I just want to add that even with the few number of Beta testers… Darkfall failed miserably at its first large scale organized pvp…. Lag was horrendous, most people were prema locked… and when I say large scale Im not talking all that large compaired to L2 sieges or EVE 0.0 battles Compaired to L2 sieges or EVE 0.0 battles.
By the way... this can also be confermed if you guys look .
Just want to say something, debug mode + euro servers = lag for anyone playing in the US
So until they put servers up in the US, we will lag horribly in big PvP battles.

If you are not a beta tester, you wont understand. The testers are loving the game, its more than just a world. However, many see these rabid haters who have no clue what they are talking about via forums. Its not hard to say "delay the game until we test all the features and squash the bugs." Essentially OP, you are turning a neutral poll into a means to be negative. This is a big undertaking by a small company, this is their first mmorpg. Did you know team fortress 2 was in development since 1998? Prey took over 10 years to develop? Games like WoW were in production long before it was announced. Just saying you cannot judge a game by how long it takes to ship what they feel is a finished product. Most mainstream games with bigger budgets and bigger teams take anywhere from 4-6 years to develop a mmorpg. The bigger and more complicated the game, the more it cost, the more time is needed. Games are better when they are delayed, rather than released early, which happens way too often with these big publishers.

It is indeed very reasonable to guess that DF will not have reached its full potential at release and very reasonable to say that it will still improve considerably in it's first half year. This is how things go with all mmo's. The question is; is the game fun, stable and complete enough to merrit jumping aboard from day 1?
There are certain advantages from being there from the beginning. The PK craze and overcrowded starter areas in the first weeks will be awesome I guess.

In this thread I have seen about 2 others that are in the beta so stfu for one second and listen
The stress battle was done after build 115 which had heavy logging, much more than at any other time in beta. I personally asked the noobs to not stress while the logging was going on since the performance will obviously not show the real server performance, but they decided to do it anyway - its their own issue

Yes Enola. That fight was during the patch time when FPS was cut by over half for almost everyone testing. 80 fps went to around 30 fps. Prior to that patch there were 40 ish person fights that ran just fine. Now that has been fixed and 30 fps is back up to 80 fps. Hopefully another test can be run soon.
To summarize though, yes that is exactly the case.

The game is already well past decent right *now*. More like somewhere between awesome and best MMO ever.
is it perfect? of course not.
that said, it's less buggy and more stable than most of the recent big name MMO releases in the past 12 months.
That being said, DF also has far less people in beta than any other commercial MMO release. This makes it far less taxing on the servers which would also reduce server lag. Wait until the game actually releases and if all of their applied testers try to play. Then we will see how "less buggy and stable" it will be.
I just want to add that even with the few number of Beta testers… Darkfall failed miserably at its first large scale organized pvp…. Lag was horrendous, most people were prema locked… and when I say large scale Im not talking all that large compaired to L2 sieges or EVE 0.0 battles Compaired to L2 sieges or EVE 0.0 battles.
By the way... this can also be confermed if you guys look .
Just want to say something, debug mode + euro servers = lag for anyone playing in the US
So until they put servers up in the US, we will lag horribly in big PvP battles.

you fail to note that the fight was between US clans, who already had crappy pings. case in point, the few euro players who were in that fight who posted in the same thread reported NO LAG and only minor ghosting.
not to mention that testers have been specifically reminded not to post on performance issues while they have debugging turned up so high.

However, many see these rabid haters who have no clue what they are talking about via forums. Its not hard to say "delay the game until we test all the features and squash the bugs." Essentially OP, you are turning a neutral poll into a means to be negative. This is a big undertaking by a small company, this is their first mmorpg. Did you know team fortress 2 was in development since 1998? Prey took over 10 years to develop? Games like WoW were in production long before it was announced. Just saying you cannot judge a game by how long it takes to ship what they feel is a finished product. Most mainstream games with bigger budgets and bigger teams take anywhere from 4-6 years to develop a mmorpg. The bigger and more complicated the game, the more it cost, the more time is needed. Games are better when they are delayed, rather than released early, which happens way too often with these big publishers.
We can all agree it wasnt very smart of Aventurine to give a release date to begin with, like Blizzard they should keep it in TBA status. The haters calling it vaporware didnt help, and probably influenced Aventurine to give a release date when they shouldnt have. It is indeed very reasonable to guess that DF will not have reached its full potential at release and very reasonable to say that it will still improve considerably in it's first half year. This is how things go with all mmo's. The question is; is the game fun, stable and complete enough to merrit jumping aboard from day 1?
There are certain advantages from being there from the beginning. The PK craze and overcrowded starter areas in the first weeks will be awesome I guess.

The stress battle was done after build 115 which had heavy logging, much more than at any other time in beta. I personally asked the noobs to not stress while the logging was going on since the performance will obviously not show the real server performance, but they decided to do it anyway - its their own issue
Now that you know from first hand account about the bs you are talking about I advise you to be a little more up to date with info before posting.

Yes Enola. That fight was during the patch time when FPS was cut by over half for almost everyone testing. 80 fps went to around 30 fps. Prior to that patch there were 40 ish person fights that ran just fine. Now that has been fixed and 30 fps is back up to 80 fps. Hopefully another test can be run soon.

it's ok, there are plenty of people who didn't read or mis-read the various dev journals over the years and who then hyped the game in their own heads to the point that no game in history would ever satisfy.

The Noob Comic was one of the first to get access to Darkfall.. even BEFORE beta…. They have also been invited to AV studios.

If its so unrealizable then why has Darkfall continuously used the Noob Comic as their mouthpiece when releasing offical information, why do they grant them interviews, why did they invite them to the studio.

Because it not going to be taken as a valid appraisal. No objectivity. Even if I did a Vulcan mind conditioning and was cooly logical... no one else would accept that. Plus I'd probably say he was great even if he was shit.
