Probably best to get a perspective from players who played while you did and have gone back rather than players just trying the game.

Also maybe explain why you got sick of it.

Well they have improved AOC alot

The game is really good now, FC will release a new huge patch in 2 weeks with 3 new dungeons / wing 3, pvp-resources, and ALOT more.

I would definitely recommend you to resub.

But i think its best to wait for the new patch before you resub, the patch will come 18 or 19 feb

    Good luck m8

i got sick of it because there was nothing much else to do but constantly PvP or spend an hour trying to get a raid together to do kyllikki or mess around on an alt doing the same thing i had just got finished doing. crafting wasnt all that spectacular either.

I also left late last year. Got tired of the memory leaks, crashes and downtime during prime time.

Recently came back and am amazed at the overall improvement of stability.

I always loved the game play, it was the techincal things that got in the way.

I play with every bell and whistle turned up to the max and still manage around 60fps. Feels great!

Hmmm, another first time poster from Norway proclaiming AoC is an amazing game.  Im calling shenanigans on  this one.

The most misused word on the internet:

    loose

adjective, looser, loosest, adverb, verb loosed, loosing.
    –adjective
    1. free or released from fastening or attachment: a loose end.
    2. free from anything that binds or restrains; unfettered

The word you are looking for is L-O-S-E. YOu can NOT loose a game.

As soon as someone describes AoC as Amazing--I know they have alternative motives (or really poor taste..or trapped on a desert island and this is the first game they played...or haven't left Tortage)

Age of Conan is doing great just now (It has done for months) and 6 days from now patch 1.04 also gets patched in.

As a sidenote, this is the absolutely best time to resubscribe as you also have a free character transfer up to the 21st of Feb in case you want to check a different AoC community out.

No. You can like AoC even after tortage, not long, but a few miles away from tortage. And It will get better with time. Anarchy Online is a good game *now*.  Funcom just need a gigazillion years to fix AoC properly.

Or you can wait til FC reduces the game to one server...and the transfer will be free :)

The game is not "laggy". If you mean latency, pick a better  ISP, if you mean bad FPS, upgrade your videocard/computer.  Don't play with toys like notebooks.

WoW is a 6 years old game, or something like that. You can run WoW in a toaster. That it run wow don't mean you have a real computer there:  There are computers that can run wow, and can't run AoC, because AoC is more demanding.

    What is your graphic card?

  • Blackwell99Blackwell99 Member Posts: 352

It's not worth spending a cent on your PC to upgrade, unless you plan on doing that anyways...but with the PC gaming market being dead-as-a-doornail, I wouldn't recommend it

Well i also played the beta and i played the game a couple of months after launch before i stopped.. I have resubbed now, and i like it. There isent any memory leaks really. There are a few server lantency spikes once a couple of hours, but nothing serious.

There still a few bugs, but not nearly as many as before.
The pvp has become a little more interesting with the introduction of pvp levels, armor and something called Criminal and Murder status (which is, you get murder points when you kill a person to much of a low level, which you unable to use normal transports, and guards wount "like" you. (to get to a city or trade you have to use blackmarket npcs and smugglers, which a re hidden om maps
But apart from Ymirs path (which is a new are) and the content i have mentioned above, there hasent really been any new features added, but they will add new in later patches as other people in the thread have told.

    So to sum up:
Many of the bugs (but not all) have been fixed. There have been added some new pvp content which is nice. I wouldent say it has changed ALOT dough, as some have; i would more say it has been fixed alot. to me changed alot is like the NEG in SWG (changed it in a negative direction but still applies) or like the hero path in ac2 (positive direction).
So to conclude; i would say it is worth to resub for a month because it is a fun time. It is not WOOOOW ITS REALLLY GREAT!!! but unless you have gotten your hands on a leaked alpha version of Mass effect 2 or something in that area (something extraordinary), it is worth your time.

X850 is getting on a bit now, (5yrs old) it is all about the Shadel Model #, this one has the baseline requirement for AoC.

here is good website to compare stats in this area: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=605&card2=20

    Your up late mate!

Try turning the particles down, the shadows down / off and reflections down / off. Still might look ok but those are some of the key area's to help with performance. Also check out your ISP, could always give them a ring and say your thinking switching to another company for cheaper and faster and see if they can do anything for you. It worked for me when I lived over that way. I know there is not much choice here though.

    Good luck!

I played from launch and in september I was about to quit myself. The reason I didn't quit was that the patch in September actually fixed things. Today the game is what it should have been at launch. they have filled in some of the leveling gaps and the game is stable and runs smooth. I think a lot of players was sick of the game during summer and early autumn, and there has been loads of good changes since then.

It might be worth to reactivate to try it out, in worst case you loose a small amount of money if you still don't like it, but if you were sick of the game not progressing I think you will find all the new changes quite nice. :)

Playing: Battlefield - Bad company (Xbox360) Arma2, DFO (PC)
    On my radar: TSW, MO
MMO's played: SWG (pre cu/cu), WoW, AoC, WAR, DFO, Planetside
MMO's that I have tested: Lotro, L2, Aion, Ryzom
