I'm curious to try this game , if ever they bring out a free trial ( even for just a day ) so I can see it runs on my PC , will give it a go being MMOless at the moment
Just started playing AoC . Its so dam laggy, even on the rubbish graphics settings its embarrasing how laggy it is. Is this going to get better or should I ust uninstall it now .
Laggy ? its probably your comp or internet connection.
AOC is not laggy, it runs very good.

Bear Grylls : I need to get out of this frozen hellhole! Bear Grylls : (Holds a beetle in his hand) 4 times more protein then Beef
I think AOC is pretty amazing and i have played it for a long time. It is not perfect, and not a 10/10. But its still a good and fun game. The 1.04 and 1.05 patch will make this game good and stable.

This viral marketing campaign by Funcom is bordering on ridiculous.
I really feel sorry for Funcom and those attached to the Funcom brand right now...if this is part of the comeback strategy I think they are misplacing their resources.
Funcom has made so many mistakes with this product that it is absolutely unbelievable. The evidence of the lack of success of the product is what you see on the new servers....dead space.
They are empty. If you merge servers less than a year from launch and launch TWO new servers you would expect at least moderate interest.
Instead, you have the original playerbase truncated into the merged servers. That's the upper limit for AoC and that does not provide a large enough of a playerbase to sustain Funcom's operations at 200+ employees (300 as of last quarter).
Funcom is not making the hard choices they need to. They either need to stop fooling around with AoC, consolidate operations around it and plunge everything they have into The Secret World or else they need to abandon it and pump everything they have into AoC. This half-assed approach to both titles is going to be the end of the company.
Honestly, I don't think they have the guts to do what they need to do. 10 days from now we are going to see an ugly 4th quarter, and I assure you Q1/09 will be worse.
In my eyes aoc has redeemed itself in almost everything it failed at during release. It has fixed its performance issues, and pretty much all other things that were wrong with it.
Good isn't it? And wow, its going to get so much better, have you seen all the new stuff lined up even after update 1.4 next week. It just keeps on getting better and better. and yes I am a little addicted.
Yes it is but the content is kinda starting to thin out at 70, I am considering a break until Tarantia common hits live, have many chars to grind up otherwise.
But the graphics and classes are great and the group dynamic works very good, the game just need more zones. And maybe a little work on RAID mechanics.
I don't think it much matters one way or the other. About a million or so people bought the game. Looks like over 90% canceled for one reason or another. Now do you really think anyone is going to believe some new account on the forums or their own or a guildmates opinion. Now if three of my guildies came up to me in LoTRO and started telling me how great the game is I might believe em or even soem of the posters who have been here for years and posted on a dozen different games but some random poster .....yeah right. I figure posts like these are schills or the alt of some fanboy and dismiss them w/o reading, and I would bet that 99.999999% of the readers here do likewise.
Now that would be stupid. As well as it is stupid to create a one liner and dissapear. I would think that such "jobs" has standars to fulfill
heh go out and Goofle "viral marketing jobs" you would be surprised at the number of hits you will get.
I don't think it would be very effective at this stage of the games life cycle. As I pointed out too many boxes sold and too much negative word of mouth. Viral marketing is more suited toward creating hype before game launches and selling vacume cleaners.
Look at some other POS games that were released by other publishers in the past couple of years that had huge viral marketing campaigns attached. No way you can turn a cat turd into a chocolate truffle once a couple of hundred thousand gamers give it the thumbs down. Word of mouth from known friends and guildies is teh only thing thta could get any relevant portion of the games purchasers back or create new interest.
Ah, so ALL informaiton in this thread that the OP is actually a viral marketer from a company sponsoring Funcom is removed by mmorpg.com staff, but they keep the marketing and the good feedback on the marketing.
Maybe... just maybe... put up a note when things are paid advertising, and not real actual forum posts?

Users cannot see deleted posts, staff can. Regarding what a user is based on what name they chose is not a good idea, because that would mean we have a few ghosts around and a president or two also iirc.

The posts deleted should have been the ones left and the others deleted. I mean the op has lost all credibility.
