Food&drink requirements back in the game...

kishekishe Member UncommonPosts: 2,012

from Moorgard:

""Well, actually our designers talked about it some more and decided that requiring food helps encourage social interaction between players, so we're putting the food/drink requirement back in.

Priests will be able to summon food and drink (feed the body and the soul will follow, after all) and there will be a variety of baking and brewing recipes in game. There will be stat food as well. ""

So basically you will have to carry food & drinks in your bag like in your bag like in EQ1...I like, adds certain type of realism.

does anyone else no mind the food requirement of the game but wish they would allow you to put the bread and canteen in a pocket and not force it to take up a bag space....

This was slightly inconvienent during the beta test but it really wasn't all that bad. I did have to ask other players if they could conjure me food a couple of times (because I didn't want to run back to a vendor) and no one ever turned me down.

Depending on what quality of food I got, my health and power/mana regenerated faster (e.g., filtered water regenerated mana faster than plain water; iron rations regenerated health better than rations).

Yeah it would be nice if food and drink didnt take up a slot in your inventory. atleast at the start of game anyway. When you first start out and dont have but maybe one bag, your inventory fills up fast. Later on when Im able to afford more bags and stuff I dont mind having them in my inventory slots though. I guess if you really look at it though, if you have food and water you need to carry it rather it just being there not taking up space though. If I could vote I would vote with you though on not having it take up space.

Personally I like having food/drink in the game. I also like the idea of food with stat bonuses.

For some reason I found everyone running around hopped up on Muon Gold hilarious. (SWG reference for those who don't know)

I'm VERY glad they brought this bad. I was devisted when food was no longer a factor. In FFXI Food and drink played a MAJOR role, I really think its important for EQ2 as well.

Any specifics on food consumption stat bonuses? AC/HP/ATK bonus's ect?

Final Fantasy XI: 75 Monk. 75 Ninja. (Current)

    EQ2: Prospective?

its also nice then when you target a groupmember while casting the spell, the food/drinks will appear in his inventory. Only priest can summon it i think though.
