they are hiding something

noijnoij Member Posts: 25

You would expect Aventurine to at least allow reporters in to play test and review the game before putting up pre orders. They say they can't handle a free open trial period but there's really no reason as to why they would not allow reviews to be made by all the major gaming sites... mmorpg.com , IGN.com , gamespot.com , gamespy.com , warcry.com etc etc..

unless they're hiding it on purpose.

You are joking correct? If not then you really are drinking the Tasos Kool-Aid.

AV can drop the NDA for anyone they want to. Look at the lap gobbler that runs that unfunny Noob "comic" site. They let "her" break NDA after she got off of Tasos' lap.

You are on to something here. Of course it has been said about 2456 more times on these boards, but another new account posting the same thing never gets old.

    When/where did they say this?

EDIT: Just found it on WarCry. I don't see anything about them saying there is no free trial, although it could be implied, I suppose.

The only reason the NDA is up is because they don't want main stream companies doing a review of this game.....

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

they know as soon as the NDA is dropped, real players will be able to give feedback.  That will ruin the whole pre-order thing.

If the game was good, they wouldn't need to hide behind an NDA.  The only games that had an NDA this late all were con games to get initial box sales.

They are hiding the real game behind a shoddily constructed cover game that was created to decrease the overwhelming hype DF has garnished since announced.  Why do you think the game looks so bad??? Think about it.  It's just a cover.  A trick.  A full-proof NDA making sure the revolutionary mob AI and gamplay mechanics are not straight stolen by other companies.  Do you really think they are going to just let people download the REAL game?  Those files could get all over the net and every company would go to work copying the advances Aventurine has made in this genra.  So stay cool.  Once the REAL game is shown, you'll be blown away.

Well Blomi I sure hope that was a sarcastic answer to the OP. Otherwise you should probably seek therapy or something. If you truely believe that is what the Darkfall team is pulling here my response to you is this LOL..................

Well, if they struggle to get servers going and have to publish it themselves (if it is indeed true that they now will) then all the extra publicity of inviting pro-reviewers won't do them any good and they would want to start it up slowly and invite them only when everything is up and running from NA-servers to billing and maybe box copies.

But I thought that GNi was handling the server-side of things? If GNi is having problems, then there are other issues involved besides "unforseen interest".

Could it be that they are missing features? Or maybe the game is coded absolutely terribly?

We'll find out in 11 days, however, I will not shit any bricks even if this game is terrible.

My bet for the best MMO of 2009 will most likely end up going to Aion or APB if they release as intended.

Because it is not going to launch. Instead they are going to milk money from fanbois so they can continue developement (whatever that means anymore). My guess is they are going to take the "limited" pre-orders cash, while at the same time still binding these suckers to the NDA.

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

Aion definitely has my vote.  I haven't kept up on it, but Guild Wars was amazing for its first year, I would expect nothing less from NCSoft...Excluding CoH/V...(vomit)

Aventurine have absoloutely nothing to hide, literally.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Saying an expansion for a game that you pay monthly for, is free...Is funny.  Add up all the money you've spent on CoH in the last five years you've played it (guessing)...Then multiply three times 50, then add another 20...That's how much I spent on Guild Wars and its three expansions (which I'm sure included more production time than CoH).

Paying monthly for a game's a scam, especially when you've to pay for expansions.  Regardless of the quality of the game, the amount of money the developer is raking in from its customers is astronomical.  But yeah, you've to pay to play quality games now...

Hopefully Darkfall won't be the empty shell that is CoH.  I've seen my friend play it MANY times...To call it an MMO is hilarious.  Especially when I continually ask him how many people are on his server and he usually answers in the hundreds.  Woah!  300 people?  That's like, one person for every map...Holy smokes, I feel the community.

Well i see somebody is a bit touchy you mistook me saying that coh/v is one of the best games ncsoft has as a personal attack on your honor. For that i am sorry im just saying that however craptastic the game is it is one of there better preforming mmo's and yes you do have to pay to play any mmo that is worth its salt. It didnt tank and they dont have to give it away for free. Guild Wars is a great game for sure but its not really a mmo in the sence of mmoness <-- lol. But all im saying is that in terms of makeing money and years of service well cox is second only to linage.
