If you could choose what IP Blizzard uses for their next MMO what would it be?

You know, as ridiculous as this sounds (with the WoW races)....the FIRST part of it would actually be really really cool.  As a matter of fact....I have to wonder....if Blizzard won't finally make a more ADULT themed MMO this go 'round.  Not specifically GTA, but maybe something much more adult and edgy than WoW.

Know what I would LOVE to see?  Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines in an MMO....or something along those lines.  Something adult, edgy, maybe a bit scary?  Of course, Blizzard doing that would be akin to when Disney came forward with Touchstone Pictures and people were saying that Walt Disney was probably rolling over in his grave.  But....time will tell. :)

Yes PLEASE someone make a mech game, but one where we are riding it, not being it.

I don't care what the settings is gonna be, because it's almost certainly not going to be elves, dwarfs and magic type of one, since all that is covered in WOW. Just let them make it sandboxy, with dynamic world and consequences that matter.

If they are going fantasy again, they will go with their strongest market first this time which is Asia, and make Dynasty Warriors Online.

i always liked the idea behind the Phantasy star games, sorta fantasy/scifi skill based tho with no set classes. and the lil pet things was neat a great idea. wish they as really mmos not completely instanced dungeon lvls.

wish they woulda been the ones to make teh Dragonball mmo but it does still look good gunna be long wait till we get it tho i think :/

It seems unlikely to me that they'd do a Starcraft MMO with SC2 on it's way as well as a Diablo MMO since D3 is slowly coming along. If anything I'd want a Diablo MMO because it really has the foundations to be one. I can't see them doing WoW2 or something silly like that. Perhaps The Lost Vikings? That'd be something wouldn't it?

I would much rather they created their own new IP rather than use an existing IP that will cause limitations.  It's also about time they broke out of the Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo mold.  If billions of earnings won't spur them to create a new IP nothing will.

I agree with the post above stating that Starcraft and Diablo are out of the running due to both of them having new games around the corner releasing.

I hope they don't use a pre-existing IP and come up with something new and expand upon it. I enjoy what Blizzard has done lore wise with all of their IPs and would like to see a new one.

I'd be willing to bet anything that it's a Science Fiction setting of some sort.  I mean, the market is gravitating towards that now, so it would seem only logical.

We can only hope. I really do hope they come up with a brand new IP. It'd be nice to see what their latest lineup of devs can create with a clean slate.

Nothing will.   IF they make one, they will just continue WoW into WoSC, it's heading that way now, what with the Titans, robots, and space...

I'm not against a SC-themed MMO but I'd hope it wasn't WoW with new paint, ya know? If they were going to do a SC MMO it should be a MMOFPS or MMOTPS. I can't see any roleplaying going on so we'll leave out the MMORPG title.

The thing that worries me is that if it is indeed a SC MMO it will be competing with THQ's 40K MMO. They're already getting beaten in terms of their next-gen space RTS coming out AFTER 40K 2 so I don't know...

Rock and Roll Racing, I would like for them to take up a challenge at least once instead of playing as safe as possible by borrowing popular elements. Not saying it is a bad thing because they are very successful, but I would love to see them pull something new off.

Realistically I would like to see StarCraft I guess, I am sure it would be a combination between PS and DAOC if not a painted WoW/EQ.

I'd like to ask that people not steal my oxygen by exerting themselves and typing dumbass stuff about how Blizzard sucks and they stole your Huffy when you were four but I know better.  It's bound to happen.

Choice #1:  World of Diablo.  A harsh, unforgiving, but fascinating game world.

Choice #2:  Everquest 3.  Yes, only Blizzard could pull this off correctly; they would have to buy the licence, of course.

Choice #3:  A new fantasy MMO, but based more on realistic graphics and seriousness, rather than the tongue-in-cheek WOW design/artstyle.

My gutfeeling is that Blizzard will make an MMORPG  based upon Starcraft. Simply because Diablo would have been too much "high-fantasy" ish and simmilar to Wow. And a new IP / Universe thats not established too much of a risk for such a huge project.

With StarCraft they can make a Sci-fi MMORPG  with both space and land content. And I am sure that they will use StarCraft 2 as a lore establishing introduction to a later MMORPG, just as Warcraft 3 were to Wow.

That way they will have one "fantasy" and one "sci-fi" based MMORPG.

My guess is that when the new one comes, that they will offer some kind of "account"  membership that gives you both Wow and the new MMORPG. And that Wow will soon have a engine upgrade so that they will have two shiny MMORPGs.

I dont think that Blizzard will take a chance on making an MMORPG based on a new universe.  That would be too much of a big risk. And one of the success criterias for Wow was that the universe was a already established computergame universe. StarCraft is already loved my millions and thats a soild foundation for an MMORPG. It has been proved that MMORPG games based upon other computer franchises are actually better selling than based on popular IPs as Matrix and Star Wars.

So my guess is a StarCraft MMORPG.

And I dont think it will be a sandbox. As much as many of us loves sandbox. that type of game is very much the oposite of Blizzards design philosphy. Their games are easy to learn and hard to master. Sandboxes are hard to learn and even harder to master. And Sandbox games are not appealing as broadly as "easier" more streamlined games. If they do something different, I  think that will be storyline and with a world that are phased more than before.

Blizzard have had and enormous success with wow and its a more solid game than any other out there and the amount of people playing it is so huge that its difficult to understand compared to most other western world MMORPGS.

I am playing Wow. I  absolutely adore it and I  will play it side by side with a new Blizzard MMORPG when that day comes.

Blizz has stated that they are working on a brand-spanking new, fresh out of the box IP. No Diablo, no WoW2, no SC online, no Blackthorne, no Vikings, no Rock N' Roll Racing, something fresh.

I've heard leaks that the new IP will be a combo...World of DiabloStarWarCraft Blackthorne Viking Racing =)

Yes, but have they stated that that IP  is for their new MMO ?  As far as I  have read they have not.  All intervies that I  have been reading where they talk to Blizz people on net, they say that they might introduce a 4th IP when time is ready for it, but that they still love their 3 ips and feel that they still have lots to offer. And I think that if they do, they will not use that ip in a new MMORPG. That would just seem strange and a huge risk in my opinion, but I  havent got a clue. just guessing.

no way, that game has a very weak IP (In my opinion).

i'd rather see a Dune, Bladerunner, Star wars IP.

    or something original

If it were an SC MMO then I reckon Eve would die that  very day hehe.

But going by what Blizz has said.. I have no clue what fresh new IP they could be talking about.

If it were an existing IP... Shadowrun... If it were something new... Something like Shadowrun/Cyberpunk :)

How can you call Blizzards MMOs linear when you have only seen one?

What blizzard should do is something quite oppsite of what wow is, something that caters to a different crowd, or else they would just be competing with themselves.

And i really hope its a new IP, and from what i've heard from people who were at Blizzcon thats what it will be :)

And to the guy who said something about a Wheel of TIme MMO, that is in the works by Red Eagle, EA is going to publish it though so it will probably be released half finished and sucky.
