What no grouping??

I recently resubbed after a few years away. I am enjoying the game alot more now. However, my toons who can play Thid are puzzled. It used to be that you HAD to group to make any progress. Now though, anytime I go to Thid, nobody groups.
Is there a game mechanics reason for this or are today's players just not into it?

I've noticed this as well. Seems strange. Possibly because the new players all want to group, but the old ones just want to be left alone. I play a stealther so being in a group isn't that helpful for me. Best bet is to make a cleric and then see if anyone wants to group.
I think part of the problem is that Thidranki has become "Twinkranki." Many of the toons have /leveled and will be staying there forever, are templated out, and can one or two shot anyone not so equipped. They don't need groups.
