Hi,
I have done some background reading of Lotro and would really like to give it a go but theres just one problem: I have been told that after level 30 you need a lot of groups to advance and that after level 50 you definetely need groups. I just have a stress-disorder and cant really play in groups much so that would not suit me. So, my question is: can I solo to lvl60?
Thanks for answers in advance.

yes, you can solo to level 60. (i did)
by you might have to pass some of the more rewarding quests.
Yes, this game is easily soloable to 60. There are quests that require groups like the book quests (main storyline) and certain raids for Radiance Gear (that is gear that has "radiance" that is required for the one big raid with the "Watcher")
there are some quests that require 3 people but there are also repeatable instances that are solo.
But I mostly solo and have had no problems.

Its easy to get groups in this game, you don't want to miss out on the group quests, its the best part of this game and you dont want to miss out on it.
When you enter this game with the attitude of powerleveling to 60, this game might not be your cup of tea, this game is all about the road and adventures you experience. I set my ingame goals in finishing quest chains instead of levels....
So yes, you can solo to level 60 and even have fun... but you could have so much more fun when you just group from time to time.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
You can easily lvl to 60 if that is what you really wanna do. I did it and most people i know on the game did it to so yes it is possible. However i would suggest that if you don't want to group lotro isnt the best game or you. Once you get to 60 there is very little to do except lvl up your legendary weapon unless you go to the new instances which requires a group. I suppose you could craft but the craft system isnt the best i have ever seen.
You can totally level to 60 on your own -- I'd imagine with your stress disorder you wouldn't want to partake in the tougher epic content, instances or raids that require groups anyway. I would encourage you to attempt to build a friends list though by maybe doing some smaller group stuff -- I know that my wife has a stress disorder and obviously we play together so it's no big deal. However, I've found with the LOTRO community that once we make friends and explain her situation no one really pushes her too hard in to situations that agrivate her anxiety. There's plenty to do in the game that's calm and relaxing while you level to 60 -- enjoy! My wife just read this and suggested getting in to crafting and fishing -- she loves fishing, farming and cooking . Actually she is our primary supplier to our kinship for food -- this way she enjoys a dynamic and active kinship but doesn't feel the necessity to join us in the high end raids.
You can solo to 60.
Whats the fun in that?
Yes, you can solo to 60. Your best class for that imo is the Hunter.
One thing to keep in mind is that a great part of the LOTRO community solos and/or duos through most of the leveling process. People tend to group for certain instances and raids. Because a large number of players solo and duo, it is not unusual for complete strangers to group for an instance or a quest, then go on their way after it is completed. Friend lists tend to be more important than guild rosters in LOTRO and friendships tend to develop as a result of players coincidentally finding themselves in the same instance or raid group here and there.
So yes, you can solo to 60 but you will find yourself grouping on occasion. It just develops that way. Instances and raids tend to require diversity of classes. For example, the champion will hack and slash his/her way through a dungeon, but he wont succeed without the minstrel's songs, the captain's support, the hunter's ranged attacks, the LoreMaster's mezz, etc, etc, You will find that instances are a collaborative effort where everyone has a specific role to play and where there are specific areas within dungeons where a particular class will be pivotal to the group's success. This makes instances so much more fun. By the way, the best loot if gotten that way. You can opt to forego all that if you want but.. im sure you will give it a try once in a while. And again, grouping for instances will be easy because a large number of players, like you, will be soloers or duoers grouping for a specific quest.
The point is, if one can't find a group they can stil do something that interests them. If they get on at an odd time or only have 30 minutes or so they can get something done, have a little fun.
Also, one doesn't have to group to be social, people forget about that.
