So the game world is fairly empty?

With lacking in the graphics department it would be atleast nice to add more life to the world towns, npcs walking around, animals running around, like for instance in WoW you had little bunny rabbits hoping yet the wolves would go after them chase em and kill em. Yea it might not be ALOT but its still nice to have a world were life is acting on its own

Well then it has something in common with EVE. for real, I question developers making game worlds so big, you see no one. Unless you're gonna fill up all that empty space with something to do, there's no point.

It won't be so empty come release day when they will have millions of subscribers

There isn't empty in a sense of their not being things to explore, and lots of little things around. It's more empty in the way that there isn't a lot of creeps to kill, or NPCs to interact with.

They havent enabled all of the mobs, because the game has been in debug mode to test servers for the past couple months. Im sure that recent beta testers havent even seen 10% of them yet.

Darkfall has a different design philosiphy then other modern MMOs.

The Idea is to put mobs in lairs, dungeons, caves and camps instead of spreading them all around the map.

And tbh its a good one, the game is pvp centric and has alot of movement involved in most pvp fights. nothing is more annoying then running from gankers and getting enough agro to start ur own raid dungeon.

Why would you not have mobs in debug mode?

Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. 10,000 or 10,000,000 subscriber it won't make any difference since there can theoretically only be 10,000 on any server. That said, millions? Guffaw.

I know. I could barely hold back my laughter when i wrote that.

Well of course the game will seem empty when players aren't allowed in.  The question is whether it will still seem empty after release.

I guess if you like having your PVP be running away from people all day then its great........To me there is nothing mroe annoying than having people run constantly and having no mobs in the game except in a few small locations.....Whats the point of an 18 gig world if the monsters are only in small areas??....The only PVP I have seen in this game looks like a bunch of school girls running around the school yard.

More mobs creates un-needed lag on the player's part, which could then be misinterpreted as server lag.

Oh boy, is this what they actually told you? You believed it?

The reasons keep getting larger on why I'm gonna wait to play this supposed game.

It could use a few more animals in the wild but other then that its all perfect. But even with the animals I really really don't want it to be like WoW where there is 2 animals for every square inch. It just makes the world feel unrealistic and stupid.

  • ShuttleXpCShuttleXpC Member Posts: 88

It's not even the fact of the world being monsterless. The problem is, they are trying to tell you there are more monsters while you are beta testing, which is the point in time where they would WANT to test these things. It seems very silly that these die hard fans are actually believing this crazy talk about "debug mode". Seriously, anyone who believes that... You know, I'm from Nigeria, I'm a businessman and...if you fall for their obvious lies, maybe you will fall for that BS too.

The point is once u get ot the monsters there are alot of them, they are hard and rewarding.

    As for the running thing.

When u give dying actuall consequence ppl are gonna run.

Its not the game its human nature.

There is really no way around whatsoever, a game with full loot and free for all pvp would shoot itself in the foot if it had CCs.

For the simple reason that it gives the gankee, the target of 6 guys trying to kill him for his loot, an actual option.  He cant win the fight so he can either run or die.

Remove the run option adn all he can do is die, and the ganksquads will rule the game even more.

So now you admit that the Ganksquads will rule the game. About time you started to think a bit logically.

Besides why run if everyone has crap equipment no one will want your garbage drops anyway so let them kill you and get nothing worh a crap anyway.

Remember all you get by running is you die tired.

Darkfall has animals, such as birds, butterflies, bears etc.

Will not be as empty as you think, as you can hear a fight a very long distance.

But the world is freaking huge. And i mean huge.

The thing is, the emptiness works great for EVE because EVE is set in space and space is very empty.

In DF I would expect to see critters like rabbits, deer, bears, wolves, birds, etc.

and snakes, rats/mice, butterflies and clouds of other bugs you walk through and almost want to wave your hands in front of your face, and other stranges beasties popping out of the ground - you know, a real life filled world like Ryzom (sorry, had to throw that in)

These types of games really need to have a diverse wild life. Say what you will about WoW but they had some decent critters in place. Antelopes running around in herds, wolves or big cats hunting rabbits, etc. Or certain mobs fighting each other.

Yes, it's fluff but it adds atmosphere and depth to the game.

There is a solution...Its called dont have any loot on you for them to take....Fight naked....The only consequence for death is losing stuff.......If you die naked there is zero consequence except to run back.......
