Will WoW have the "Old UO" feel?

When it first came out, Ultima Online was FUN! It didn't last, and no other MMORPG has managed to capture that feel. In my opinion, it was fun because it was dangerous, it was real and it was meaningful. If you played it, you know what I mean, and if you didn't, I don't think I will be able to explain it. Does anyone else think that WOW has the potential to recapture this amazing style of play? The PVP, honor system, class and factions all suggest to me that it may just be what I've been looking for. If I'm wrong, what other game on the horizon would fit the bill?

    I hate to burst you bubble here, I really do, but no, I do not think that WoW is that game. I played UO when it first came out (played in beta as well) and it was awesome. I think that a large part of this awesomeness was due to the fact that it was such a new concept, revolutionizing the gaming industry. I don't think any game will ever have that feel again for that reason, and because of the fact that the MMO market has been inundated with cry-babies who don't want challenging, who don't want to stand to lose anything, but just want to level level level and get phat lewt. But do give WoW a shot. I love it, and think that it is a breath of fresh air to the MMO community. Sort of a happy middle ground between EQ and CoH IMHO.

    Yes - it occured to me that UO was so good because it was the first of it's kind. I will try Wow, and though I'm sure you're right and it will not be like old UO, perhaps it will be better in it's own right.

    hm even If I'm looking forward to WOW.
    In no way It will be nearly the same as UO.

    what made UO genious?
    a) Huge World, extremly detailed Design, very immersive and and a great Framework for RP'ing
    B)non consentual pvp.
    c) Very nice Skill System, with a lot of freedom of choices.
    The whole game was very complex and not easy (at the Beginnning ... until EA started to make it a diablo clone)
    which means that Achivement was really something you could be proud of, and you had to invest something, not erything was put in your ass..

    Except perhaps the World Design (which I haven't really been able to check) WOW has
    nothing of that or made exactly the opposite.
    And Yes you're right, it's also because UO was very new and for me It was my first real mmorpg I've played, and naturally that feeling will never come again
