With the NDA being lifted, we don't need anyone to go find stuff from beta testers because there are plenty here as it is. Just saying...
You mean all 3 of the "testers" who posted above you who claim everything in darkfall is amazing?
Just saying someone called him a noob for relating what someone else said, why do you guys always resort to name calling when all we do is post what we find from other "testers" and videos? If it indeed is not the case why do ~70% of all testers agree with the OP? Same with the videos. Hey we're not trying to bash, if it's wrong please post a video showing otherwise since we obviously cannot.
appearently they are adding alot in release. I predict this will be the mantra of DF, and probably written on its tombstone in a year or two if it releases next week.
Well because obviously they can hold more objects in their world right? If we look at the facts we have this:
They changed the guards to towers because they couldn't add more NPCs to the world
If they really could, wouldnt they have done so already? I mean according to them they wanted to stress test the server.
Why limit the people who can play at launch? Well Tasos already said they cannot support the users. This would lead us to believe they cannot support a large amount of npcs either.
Can someone post a video or link to a video showing large spawns of mobs? I mean it is like 5 days till release.
Everyone here is telling you the same thing, So i wont waste my typing fingers... I will say, They also turned the starting areas into dark and jungle type of areas, full of plants and trees, rocks and some new buildings...
Not normal trees you look at but types you can climb up into and on the branches. The gobos are mixed in this area, roaming...not static sitting there... They are roaming, hiding, watching you. If they see you they will go deeper, pulling you farther in, Into their friends that may flank around you.
If you see a gobo runing in circles then back and forth in front of you like a dance, then you approach he shoots a few arrows off and runs into the woods, careful... You may have three vollys of arrows coming out from between those trees.
You may think, ohh bs they dont do that your exaggerating.... im not! There are no lvls they will kill you!
The Ai is very smart and get smarter the higher up the ladder they are. The gobos are the very bottom of the bottom.
As many other beta testers they have not even read the information in the stickies. The devs told the testers about mobs been on/off due to AI testing. When I've got in at Jan 22 there were more mobs around than several builds by late due to the testing.
And since the two latest builds I have fought countless of difference mobs, just around my homeland.

There are clearly places where mobs should be, but aren't. When I first got into beta a couple weeks ago, they were a bit sparse. But it wasn't that bad, and has improved greatly.
If it's really that bad then why have 90% of testers said they are going to pre-order on polls in the beta forums?

Maybe believing tasos for some reason in that they are going to add more mobs? Honestly it's a pvp game and if you only enjoy pvp why would you cancel a pre-order based on pve content? Also it wasn't 90%, I saw the poll too.
There's no reason to hold back on adding mobs until release day anyways. I thought they wanted to stress the servers? Why wait until 10k people all try log on the same day to add more npcs to the server. Just makes no sense since they have only max stress tested up to ~ 3k users.

Beta servers arent the same physical servers as release servers.
Thats why they never stress tested them and only used Beta to test software.

Wait, so the stress test wasnt a stress test because they decided to just test the software?
So in other words they wont know if the servers will be able to handle players come release day?
So they will pretty much be using paying customers as a stress test?
That would explain the whole limited release....

I think Darth will attest that I am probably the last poster he would expect to see agreeing with him.
It became quite evident to me some time back that this game was going to pretty much only be about PvP. The videos we kept seeing over and over should have tipped off everyone else too. They sure didn't make a 17 minute video showing resource collection and boat building now did they.
Sure there is some PvE and some crafting... but it is first and foremost a PvP game. Whatever fun you find in the PvE and Crafting aspects of the game is just gravy. (Unfortunately for me... as I was hoping for an even better crafting experience than in Pre-CU SWG).
Your experience and fun in the PvP is the make or break for DarkFall. If you are not full time, heavy into PvP... and Full loot PvP at that... then DarkFall probably is not your game.
I still have a lot of issues with how Tasos and Aventurine: developed, tested, and are releasing this game... but you do have to give DarkFall and it's devs credit for making a game that a certain segment of the MMO player-base seems to like very much.
How big is that player-base? Is it big enough to make DarkFall successful enough to grow bigger and expand into other markets? Nobody can tell you those answers with any amount of certainty.
Anyone pre-ordering DarkFall, or planning on buying it on the 25th should do so with the expectation that what they see now and what they know about the game now is what they will get.
Don't pre-order or buy with the expectation that something that isn't there now will be there by date X... that has proven in the past to be an unreasonable expectation.
If what you see and know of DarkFall right now is appealling to you... you will most likely have a fun time and think it is money well spent.
If you are uncertain... it would probably be best to wait and see what the first few weeks after Release brings.
If you dislike what you are seening now... it would probably be best to forget about DarkFall and start looking at new games in development.
What you see now is what DarkFall is all about.... PvP. Everything else is icing on top. Deservedly so... as DarkFall was meant to be a PvP game first and fore-most.
Let them have their game... they have waited quite awhile.
