Cryptic has already created city of heroes and villains both titles were great games. They know what it takes to make it big in the mmo industry. I've just seen the G4TV episode which is new gameplay video. The game looks amazing graphics look fantastic very cell shaded and colorful, gameplay looks similar to city of heroes but way better animations. Where is the hype?
This is going to be a great mmo. Not to mention they now have Bill Roper on board, aka the "Blizzard Rebel" who was a veteran member of Blizzard Entertainment.

I agree, I am stoked about the game.
I never played a super-hero mmo before but I admit this game does look pretty good.
Well, I suppose that's one opinion.
But since I saw COH/COV as very bland titles the thought that this game is more of the same with better graphics doesn't exactly excite.
Looks to me like Cryptic still need to learn how to make a good game.

This game will be amazing. I also think it will keep a steady 100-300k sub base. The only bad thing about this game is it's a niche game. Not everyone likes superhero games and it will lose some people because of that.
As far as it being like CoX, it's similar but vastly different. The geographics are totally different (you can now go to forests/different planets ect.) Whereas in CoX it was just cities. Also the graphics look to be among the best of any mmo. Granted more cartoonish than say AoC, but way better than any other mmo out there beside that.
Definatley this game will get more hyped once open beta comes out.
i think the graphics just look silly... too many people hating on CoH on this site.... its a great game and keeps getting better... new zones added... time travel... Not to mention the upcoming Mission Arcitech where you can design your own missions, including story lines, enemies and all... you can even design the villain(s) that is in the mission. They have a decent crafting system and the community is by FAR the friendliest and most helpful to newbs of any MMO out there.... If you have never tried it... get teh 14 day free trial... its a great game.... see you in Atlas Park!!
The graphics from what I have seen has been pretty decent and they are supposed to give you that comic book feel to the game. Champions will be one of the popular games this year because of the character customization which players will like alot.
I always feel like this game is barely hyped at all.

i have a couple question if anyone can answer them. first I thought this game was gonna be striclty for console xbox 360, then I heard they were thinking of cross platforming it so console and pc could play. I just got the newest game informer. they are saying its comming out for pc only right now, and they have no clue when the console version is really slated for. the wording in the artccle almst sounded like they don't know if it will ever be. this was suppose to be xbx's answer and compition to ps3 dc universe online. what happen ???
It was always in development for both PC and xbox 360. The latest information makes it sound like the game will release for xbox after it releases for PC. Beta testing is currenly only for the PC version. At this point they're not even sure if they'll have xbox and PC players on the same servers.

By doing that, they wouldn't help putting MMOs on consoles, they're risking a having really low population. Also, I don't really understand why they wouldn't be able to (unless they just couldn't afford it) because alot of other MMO developers have been able to use that technology (ex. FFXI, PSU).

and there are many reasons I don't think we will see one anytime soon. Things like chat and controls are on top of the list and yes I do play console games and I do understand there are ways around this but it still will be awhile before we see it happen I think.

my very first mmo was CoH 4 years back. i loved that game and am getting more excited about this one the more i read about it. CoH has always been very solid with very little downtime. even the mighty WoW has weekly downtime that always lasts longer than stated. if champions is anything like CoH, then im in line
On G4 TV the guy was playing it with the 360 controls.
Yeah I trust Cryptic to come up with some cool stuff. Just hope they get some new sound effects and stuff. The Underwater zone looks sweet!
