This probably does merit it's own thread, but I'll shoot here...
- The Client Is Extremely Stable
- The client is as stable as WoW was in beta. (e.g. It has never crashed on me.)
- Low CPU Usage
- The client really doesn't use that much CPU even during complex scenes and medium sized battles. It peaked around 20-25 percent for me in beta. So even if the game doesn't support dual core processing, it shouldn't matter much. The updater application typically used 50 percent CPU and that is a 3rd party technology.
- Visually much better than you think
- No this is not an AAAAA quality looking game, but really it's much better looking once you actually get to play it. For what it is trying to accomplish, the game looks great. If you're wanting to play this game for candy, you probably should look elsewhere.
- Better than any other 3D MMO on the market
- Despite it's bullshit, this game in it's current state, is still better than any other 3D MMO on the market. If you're looking for a sandbox, look no further.
Comments
I sure hope it's more stable than wow's beta client.
Do not advertise this game as "sandbox" . It might give people a false idea.
It is PVP focused game , with sandbox elements
WoW's beta client never crashed for me, nor did Darkfall's beta client...
Current Hardware:
Here ya go, sorry.
I read a lot of the reviews. looked at all the site and come to the following conclusions.
First, No amount of graphics is going to cover the flaws of game mechanics or lack of content. AoC is a prime example of that.
Secondly, a game that is PvP with full loot rights will have a player generated endgame. The end game will most likely require a great deal of time dictated to protecting the investment of building and maintaining a keep or what ever they call it. Basically a person with real life responsibilities is not going to like this.
Thirdly, a FPS is a FPS and a FPS is just not going to cut it in keeping a RPG player. Random kill quests are about as exciting as watching paint dry.
This reminds me. What happened to Irth Worlds anyway?
Why do you play MMos for quests? I'd rather play with other players in a multiPLAYER game.
Do you remember the quests in UO? No, because they basically didn't exist. That didn't stop UO from being the best MMO ever made.
If you liked UO, you'll like darkfall. If you hated UO, you'll hate darkfall.
Ever play Vanguard on a FFA server? It's more of a sandbox game than Darkfall...the only difference is full loot and dumbed-down mechanics. Not a big deal since most players will keep their good loot in their bank unless they know their side has overwhelming odds. Don't be under the impression that you'll be looting WoW's purple class loot - most of what you'll be looting from players will be crap. The whole PvP 'sandbox' idea will wear thin quickly....especially since the PvE sucks.

Most MMOs I play have quests including group quests becasue I play a game as a RPG not as a FPS. If you like FPS then you probably don't like RPG. As for PvP I rather have mini games so I can at least schedule a time to play since real life is more important to me than gaming. A game that is going to require a pager is not my idea of a game.
Good conclusion. I hate UO so yeah, I hate Darkfall thanks for clearing it up
