Pre-Orders, only for the US? i call for a EU boycot

ramzithramzith Member Posts: 37

As a long standing memeber of MMORPG and the community i get really pissed off when a european company priorities the US market over the European one

I am a man of principles, I dont pay for movies that are realeased in the US prior to being released in EUROPE. I dont pay for music which is released in the US prior to being released in EUROPE and i will not buy games that are released in the US befor Europe.

In the registration process Aventurine requires a Zip code, in europe we have no Zip codes, hence we can not register, and hence we can not proceed with the Pre-orders

I dont know about the rest of Europe but a UK post code does not work as the Zip code needs to be in numbers and no letters.

I have been supportive of Darkfall, this is evident in my previous posts, but I am a european citizen, and if the Germans, Scandinavians,French, English and other european countries are descrimiated against then my good will quickly change and any support the european market may have offered you will quicky evaporate.

shame on you Tasos, you should know your home market better and you should understand that europeans dont like the preferential treatment that the US often enjoys. (not disrespect to our US friends)

It was a global preorder, but you had probably 30,000+ doing it at the same time so it's not adventurine its you missing the chance.

Worked fine for me with letters and all

     ...You do realize the following things;

1: There are no North American servers.

2: Aveturine hires first month developers that couldnt figure out their feet from proper code  ( IE: They hire code monkies, not engineers ).

3: You jumped the gun on blaming "all mmorgs favoring teh US zOMGWTFBBQ".

    Right?

Then let me correct your "strong senses"

please try and register without a ZIp code, and you will get the same message i got  "fill in your zip code"

I am not struggling to connect because of 30k users or even 400000k users,  am having no connection problem.

When i keyed in a 0000 zip code it workes.

    I wasnt born yesterday

And whats this about a global release? a global release for everyone that has a Zip code, that none of the European countries have

  • ramzithramzith Member Posts: 37

Unclesanta, did the letters work for you?

thats weird, when i input a 0000 zipcode it works, when i nput my real postcode it didnt work, Where are you from Unclesanta?

Bloodpls, yes i tried keying in my postcode, it wouldnt have it

  • ramzithramzith Member Posts: 37

So, has anyone got this to work yet?

  • ThatimThatim Member Posts: 240

I am pretty damn sure Holland is in the EU.

And we do have ZIP-codes. You know, like the prev guy said, it is the same as a "postcode"?

And then people ask me what is wrong with the DF community.

Edit: Sorry didn't saw you already tried that. In that case, GJ Aventurine.

You probably had your country listed as the United States, causing the zip code to only accept numbers. I put in my postal code and it worked. Canada uses numbers and letters too =/

However, I never ended up getting the pre-order as they sold out :S. 4 hours wasted. Ohwell I'm not too upset, try again Wednesday =)

Answer: 0, Blizzard does it for them.

I noticed this too, I don't think it's necassarily only accepting numerical values but the order of the alpha-numeric input.

For me: I had to leave the space out otherwise it will not fit, then it did give me an "incorrect characters used" error, I completely ignored it and just entered the exact same details, which were accepted on the third try? Just a bit laggy and buggy I think.

I guess you don't see or listen to much outside of Europe then...sad that you cut yourself off from all sorts of culture that way.   I like seeing movings, hearing music, and playing games from all over the world and i could careless what country they released in first.  If I did I'd never enjoy anything outside of the States which would royally suck seeing as a couple of my favorite films and bands are from Europe and Asia so naturally they release their work there first.

As for Darkfall...sounds like user error to me considering there are no US release dates or servers the game is being launched for Europe they're just not turning away US customers if they wish to play on the European servers.   BTW this must be your first MMO besides games by Funcom & Eve...hope you have fun.

I got the character error too, but i think that was for the captcha text and it seemed to work anyway because i checked my email saying i had been accepted or whatever.. even though i kept getting the error

Unless it has changed in the last 4 hours it makes no difference what country you have selected the box will always be Zip Code.

If u look beneath the zip code box, ull see a box for ur country.

Set ur country first that invalidates the zipcode entry.

Then u can order fine, anything else is due to internet latency.

Its working for me now, but it was not working earlier

i was doing the exact same thing, so i assume aventurine did some changes to the online form.

other people have had this problem so i know its not a "user error" like some pepole seem to stubbornly state

as for this being my first MMORPG, i was playing MMORPGS when the person who made that statment was sucking on a bottle of milk, though back then we had Telnet with no graphics. in a response to that person i would like to say "you must be 14"

i also would like to know what that person has as a foundation for the statetment of this being my first MMORPG.

    thanks

As for me, i will boycott this game, its to late to pre-order now, and mistreatment to my fellow europeans is one thing i wont stand for, thats why i only buy products with global released.  If we all adopted this same approch companies would start to realise that the european market wants to be treated equally

thats the beauty of Blizzard games and why they are so populare in europe, (also they are very good)

thats also why games such as Tribes , Auto Assault never really kicked off in Europe, if you come late to the EU market then your may as well throw your money down a drain. we dont take sloppy seconds.

    1.  Darkfall is releasing in Europe first.

    2.  World of Warcraft Release date(s)

    AUS / NA November 23, 2004

    EU February 11, 2005

Have fun back with your sloppy seconds .

  • ramzithramzith Member Posts: 37

Blood, i dont mind a 2 month difference in release date, thats probebly mostly to do with logistical/administration issues then any attempt to delay the european release.

In the US you dont often notice this, but lots of items are often delayed in EU, sometimes by a year, but when they finally do decide to release in EU it doesnt go so well for them in EU.

As for this being a european release primarily, it doesnt changet the fact that me and other users could not pre-order while the people with Zip codes, could.
