What is good about this game and reason to move on your another mmo? Just tell me. As far as i see it.
1.Grind - why would you drop your old grind game and move here to grind stones and wood for years? you can do that in wow or eq2, 10x more polished games.
2.Gameplay - why do you believe that pointing an aim somewhere around your target and pressing mouse is actually aiming and skill? It is not so this game doesnt take any skill. Neither going melee and button mashing, again why move from 10x more better games in same field to df?
3.Gfx and animation - just lol
Fanboy reply(using my psychic abilities): but you troll dont see its FREEDOM!

PLEASE.....
Why do you care what taste players have? if i would grind for hours thats my problem.
If i dont care about the graffics, thats my problem.
Since i playing for the game, please shut {ModEdit} up and let me decide what i would play, without YOU trying to hype a bad karma.
Youre a JOKE!
It is hard to tell if a man is telling the truth when you know you would lie if you were in his place

Empty Implies somthing diffrent than what I ment, and so does full. It should be left without either.

The world will be empty at first until players start building cities. That's how Shadowbane was atleast.. Who knows.
You can also macro in DF so you can avoid a lot of the grind.
I dunno, isn't moving on what most people do with MMO's? You get one, you play for a few months, maybe a year (I never ever last this long) then you get a new one? Darkfall is just the most recent release, I think it will be the same as most other's, or similar to WAR: people will buy it in mass amounts, play for a little while, and then many will move on to the next big game.
Does it really surprise you? Darkfall offers something a LITTLE different, a little new and hopefully a little fun for a little while It's not deep psychology here I just think people are looking for something new in there mmo experience.
Fixed it for you. But on the rest I agree.
What's wrong on large empty world? It gives a realistic feeling to it, if you don't meet someone at every feet. Make important spots for people to fight for it, and let the rest of the world empty.
REALITY CHECK
I can't really see the point of a huge world in a PvP focused game. People will tend to congregate in a few hotspots to engage in PvP. Most likely outside big cities so they are within running distance of a bank to deposit their loot. The wilderness areas are going to be completely empty.
1. There's a grind to any tradeskill in any game. As far as raising combat skills... they raise as you do what you want. I played beta without macroing and personally i didn't find the skill-up time too long.
2. It's not just point and click, it's timing also. It's jumping/ducking/dodging/blocking a moving object that's fired from a moving object while you are moving. It's being able to guess where the mob/character's going to be in the 0.2 - 3 seconds it takes your spell/arrow to get to it's location. It's about mobs who hit who they want, cast what they want and when. It's combining the combat system of tab-target MMO's and increasing difficulty with the feature of actually having to maintain sight/aim of/on what you're attacking/healing.
3. Last day of beta, melee animations got a slight improvement. During beta, the game was run in 'debug mode' so that SOE could collect data. They disabled the sliders for rendering and antialiasing, and also had the textures set to LOW. Upon launch we will have antialiasing enabled (up to 16x), both Medium and High texutre qualites enabled, Clipping bar enabled, and weather enabled (rain fog wind). Every beta picture you've seen so far has had low textures, no antialiasing, and a short clip plane.
I had a blast during beta, and was amazed at the quality of work done to each patch. I expect every minor bug to be fixed quick, leaving only player opinion issues to constantly change/contaminate the patches (and game).

The wilderness areas are not going to be empty. WIth 10,000 onine at a time, people are going to be all over the place. Mobs in the wilderness drop very nice gear, regeants, gold, and will be constanly farmed for these. A large world gives people room to get lost if they want, or hang around civilizations for more player interaction.

I disagree with this, it's not a problem that it might be empty of any other players, but to be empty of wildlife, mobs, etc... that's not very fun.
Did you play Dark and Light on release? my god it was horrible, you could run for 40 minutes and not find ONE single creature to kill. IF they have a huge world, then they need to fill it with something, at least some decent mob camps, It doesn't take much to place them here and there.
lol
some players bought the preorder what are they paying for.? even with the NDA lifted there is no information what is in the game.
Everything is in debug mode without proper testing..
you pay what 50 euro?
its pathetic..
in it's current state it's still more polished than a lot of games that have been out years. personally feel like i payed for four years of everquest 2 beta.

I don't think there is enough motivation for players to go wandering around in the wilderness. From what I've heard of the Beta, mobs are very few and far between, and little is known of their loot. Random adventuring and exploration is not going to be high on the list of activities for DF players. They'll hang where they know they're never too far from a PK.
Ironically the wilderness areas will probably be among the safest area in-game.

I was in beta. If you see something on your minimap that looks cool, chances are there's mobs there (or an empty camp they haven't turned on). It's about a 1 min walk from mob camp to mob camp, i wouldn't call that empty. Some were so close that as i was trying to run away from some mobs i'd aggro, i'd run into aggro range of other mobs, shooting me with arros from 50-75+ yards.
People knew exactly what mobs were dropping, and farming certain ones for a lot of gold and plate armor. New players in chat would ask what type of mob was dropping certain regeants for their spells, then going to farm them.
I do agree with you about the wilderness parts (except actually encountering mobs... some are MUCH stronger than ANY player ever could get). Tho when you're venturing out to take on hard mobs to farm regeants/ enchanting-ingredients / gold / armor / etc. you're going to be wanting to bring some of your best gear.... and there's probably going to be roaming packs of PKers farming these people.
edit: and Zayne, i mean no disrepect by this.... but i think your image of the overall Darkfall comunity / average-player is skewed. I blame this website and it's forums.
So what game you suggesting people spend money on then? If you want to play a mmorpg at the moment you got the choice of one that you know is gonna suck or one that might suck (Darkfall).
OP is always good for a laugh
just lol at graphics? Sorry turn the game on with shadows, or even without it, and it makes WAR look pathetic. Animations are terrible yes, but if you need someone exploding in flames everytime they fire an arrow, well then good for you. But the environments are probably the best i have ever experienced in the fantasy setting, the world is amazing and during beta just exploring the huge world and discovering little coves and whatnot provided hours of entertainment.

Wow this could not be further from the truth.
from what i saw on the live stream the mobs are alot more than in them early beta videos .
most of the people are waiting so long to play this game that's why most of them preordered i think
Aside from that most of the mmorpg which are released are not complete --> bugs and so on..
Q: why would you pay for a game which is incomplete?
if the companies would do this with single player games the games don't come of the market.
why are they doing this with mmorpg and not with single players...
you don't buy a car withhout the weels right or maybe the enige which is broken. its just pathatic.
not going to advise which game you should play that is up to you to..
i am playing currently warhammer which i like to play and will keep on playing but i do wanne try darkfall only not in this state of condition..

Really?
Well, in that case, people write horrible reviews about this game. Since even the most positive reviews mention the low amount of npc mobs, or at least it is mentioned that they are not roaming, but are all gathered in or nearby camps.
Note that I'm not saying that you are wrong, but if you are right, then people should really learn to write accurate reviews of a game.
1. If u prefer to have ur grind camuflaged in pretty quests and a lvling system that requires u to hack at mobs for 6 months. Then Darkfall is not for u. Darkfall gives the players the freedom to play how they wish, but with the same restrictions as other games, its gonna take just as long. BUT u dont have to wait till lvl 80 to start playing with ur friends, u can join them right from day one.
2. Why? because it is. Try the game, pointing and clicking is what all MMOs do, this one does it different.
Lets take one example: The ability to aim ur spell, and aim ur arrow gives u the ability to avoid others spells and arrows by being clever. Hop to one side right before the person releases, in a pattern he did not expect, if he sees the move coming he will compensate, can u outwit him on the fly ?
No other MMORPG has this, and thats just one example.
(Planetside is an MMOFPS)
3. The graphics are fine, not as good as AoC but if u got the rig they are good enough. The landscape looks AWESOME, absolutely top of the line, even trolls agree, while the animations could use, and probably will recieve, some work.
No big deal thou.

That's where you buy recall stones, mark your spot and recall there when your done exploring in the wilderness!
