To Install New Patch From 1.031 to 1.033

For those that have pre-ordered, there is a problem with the Darkfall_1033.exe patch. This problem, however, is easily avoided. When you activate your 1.033 Darkfall client it will tell you a new patch is ready. Download it, and install it. When it is finished downloading, close all programs except the installer(including the client which may still be open). It wil fail almost certainly, and it will roll back the patch, deleting your darkfall.exe and most files except data files. Now, there are two options depending on if you are using Windows XP or Vista.

For XP:

Go into Search in the Start menu. Make sure hidden files and such are searched for, and search for Darkfall_1033.exe. It should come up in your Windows directory or abouts. Double click it, and install it into your regular darkfall folder. This should correctly finish installing the program. Remember, keep all programs closed except the ones I've named.

For Vista:

Go into your Explorer. Go into your User directory. Go into Documents and there should be a hidden folder named APPDATA. Then go into folder ROAMING. There should be a DARKFALL folder inside that. There should be an UPDATES folder inside that. There should be another DARKFALL folder inside this. Inside the DARKFALL folder is a file named Darkfall_1033.exe and that is the file you open. Install it into your normal Darkfall directory and it should finish downloading.

Now, hopefully the files should be repaired. No problems. ^_^

am i right in saying that people who were not charged properly (not charged at all) will not be able to play till tomorrow evening?

What do we do if it asked us to download the file but it never moved off the 0% and said file incorrect size?...lol

I tryed like 4 times and now the patcher is'nt comming up.

if you didn't receive an e-mail AND your bank/card was not charged for the pre-order, than almost certainly you will have to wait till tomorrow Greek time(+2 GMT) to be able to purchase the game to play, and even then good luck it's hard but entirely possible to get through the order page with the amount of lag it is constantly under.

As for the incorrect size problem, you'll have to look to a few other threads, as nobody I've spoken to(25+) have experienced this problem so far.

Here is the new information I have since the thread I put it on more recently has fallen off first page:

The Installer has now changed to 1.034. So if you're downloading 1.033 please stop, turn off the Darkfall client, and open it again. It will give you the install to 1.034, which shouldn't have the same problem as 1.033. If you've downloaded 1.033 and repaired it as in my previous post I do not believe you need to install this patch, and if you do not install it and reopen your Darkfall client the client should work fine as before.

If you received an e-mail confirming your pre-order, then I would go to the links Aventurine posted to acquire and download the torrent for the client, or if you have the beta client, simply keep updating it till it comes to this point and follow the instructions.

I have v1.031.0 of the patcher. When I start it, does not try to install a update. It did try earlier, but it would not download anything. It would give a error message (incorrect file size). Any fix for this?

Um, like I said I haven't found this problem, and there are a few other threads that have and attempt to address the problem. My only suggestion would be to find the Darkfall_1033.exe file and try to open it and see if it repairs the problem. If not, perhaps opening the client again. If it doesn't update, trying copying your files to another directory(Darkfall2 maybe, I know it takes like 15 or 20 minutes) and then deleting the original directory files, copying them back in and seeing if that works. I even doubt that would work to be honest. Since I haven't had to deal with this problem I don't know much about it right now.

What patch?

I pre-ordered, confirmed, downloaded the client via torrent, installed it, and when I try every once in a while it says acount not active because well, the servers aren't up of course.

Am I missing something? Happen to have a link to the 1034 patch or whatever?

I dunno, but I'm guessing if you need 1033 I'd suggest changing the filename in that link to that file. =(^_^)=

If you ARE ABLE to download and install 1033 and 1034, I would highly suggest doing so. If you're on this forum more than likely you're like most of us and are waiting for the servers to come up, so just install them both and wait it out. I suggest a delicious recipe for a strawberry or fruit trifle:

One pre-made pound cake

One trifle dish or deep casserole dish

Two pounds of strawberries or fruit

White sugar and/or honey to taste/eyeball

Fresh mint leaves

One lemon

One half quart whipping cream

Powdered sugar to taste

Place the fruit in a saucepan and begin cooking until fruit gives up much of it's liquid. Add sugar or honey until it make a nice syrup, and add 4 or 5 chopped mint leaves and a bit of lemon to seal the color and add a bit of flavor.

Pour whipping cream into bowl and whip with a whisk or automatic whisk. Do so until when you pull whisk off of cream and turn it upside down, a small peak forms at top of whisk but falls down. Add powdered sugar until your desired level of sweetness.

Slice pound cake into thin slices, and layer fruit, whipped cream, and pound cake in layers, adding fruit and whipped cream as the final two layers. Add thin slices of lemon twists and/or mint leaves as a final garnish. Refrigerate for an hour or two to meld flavors and allow layers to pull together and solidify.
