I'd say CoX instantly became one of my top three MMOs. Tabula Rasa and Planetside being the other too.
I started last April, but quit due to financial issues after my first month sub was up. I leveled a Hero to 17, but again, I quit due to life issues. I resubbed about a week ago so I can have something to play after TR dies. I don't remember it being this much fun. I've played almost all the major MMOs listed on this site, from AoC to WoW. Every one of them is just boring quest grind with a standardized looking character.
CoX breaks that chain for me. I can make the character I want to play. I can play the quests I want to do. There's also never that "I'm out of quests, I must grind" feeling, due to the well-implemented mission/radio/newspaper system.
I am only level 30 so far (Captain .Canada on Freedom), yet I usually become bored of most MMOs at late-midgame, due to the same boring quests (collect X amount of y) and the excruciatingly slow combat systems most have.
While the vets are bickering the PvP is bad, I beg to differ. From videos I've seen, and in-game talks I've had with 50s, the PvP seems to be quite fun; well it may be fun as those players have not tried the old PvP, but still.
CoX is only getting better and I have no reason to quit now.

This games PVP is horrid. The videos you seen were flukes. probaly like 4 archtypes max and the same cookiecutter spec for those 4.
90 percent of the games archtype power combinations suck in PVP.
Like I said before NCsoft Doesnt know a damn thing about PVP MMO's
PvP was an obvious afterthought to the game and only here to attract more subs. I would say anyone who takes it seriously is only fooling themselves horribly.
Like D3mis3 I too have really enjoyed the game but due to my ADHD I do not stay much more then a year or two with any one game. I started CoH on day one and can say that overall the game is really solid. CoX I will be coming back in the near future I am sure.
Yes the pvp is a little bit of an after thought but still not absolutely horendous. My favorite toon is a scrapper and yes in some ways he is gimped but I dont worry too much because its fun to roleplay the powers in my opinion.
I will say the crafting I never really got into and usually I enjoy crafting in some of the other major mmo's.
I would pick TR as one of the bottom 3 mmo's that I have played, but everyone to their own.
Ignore the people whining yet again about how CoH pvp sucks. The devs have repeatedly said that the pvp in the game is balanced around Team vs Team, NOT single player vs single player.
Not to mention that when they ask (in forums and polls) what the players want, more co-op or pvp, that co-op comes up far more often than pvp. This is why the Rikti War Zone and holiday events are co-op. Sirens Call (at least on Infinity) is still pretty popular place when one wants go toe-to-toe with a hero (or villain).
So enjoy the game and find a nice supergroup to join. At 20 make sure you get Stamina so you won't be resting as often and your downtime decreases.
Not to mention pvp is in the first stage of a rather exstensive multistage revamp.
Just because one minor part of a game is messed up in a way that effects a minority of players does not make it a bad game.

If more players start demanding more pvp, I have no doubt that NCSoft will respond accordingly. They've been very receptive to player's requests and ideas in the past.

-BTW if you ever make an Invul tank... I have a high defense PVE Invul / Axe tank build floating around somewhere in this forum. If you need any help grab Mid's Hero Designer ver1.4. Then copy my build and import it into Mid's and try it, mod it, knock yourself out its a good solid build imo but it is NOT for everyone.

COX is the only MMP since Asherons Call that I have enjoyed playing, it may not have the bells and whistles or Financial muscle that other Games have, however it is one of the few MMP's out there that is unlike a very popular Game with Orc's and Elves (hint hint) Name a Game that Has a better Character Creation Engine then Cox?
With issue #14 comming out soon with its Mission/storyline Creation tool, it will have something that few if any games will have the ability to do (Champions and DC online) from what I hear will have a similer feature in the future.

Personally, I don't mind at al. I'm not good at PvP and so I rarely have fun while doing it. The main reason I ever set foot in a PvP zone in CoH/V: the badges.
PvP isn't important to everyone, and quite frankly I love the game already without it. However, I think the devs are going to start trying to improve the PvP.
Yowsa, is your taste in MMO's considerably different than mine.
But glad to hear you've found a fun game to play, it seems to be a rare thing these days.

The PvP is an Afterthought, admittedly, but as a Diversion (And not something taken particularly seriously) Can be absurdly fun. The Gladiator Arena type is pretty fun to boot. To be honest, I've probably had more fun in PvP in this game than most others, mostly due to player run tournaments, including an Impromtu 1v1 Tourney I organized in the middle of a PvP Zone, which was... interesting, mostly because of the few people who didn't want to go along, and were promptly destroyed by the crowd of spectators.
i am fed up with people slugging city of heroes off all the time plz change the record it is a good game
now people are going on about Champions and DC online now that is the problem that they are coming out for consles as well now that is when the problems really start to happen all you have to do is look at call of duty games endless problems mmo are designed for computers not console that is why blizzard won't bring wow out on console.,.,
