My only BIG question is how long will it take to cap your skills? Because the way I see it is if ALL skills are available to you then what differentiates me from another player? Everyone will have capped skills and walk around being able to do EXACTLY the same thing as everyone else.
So HOW LONG does it take to CAP a skill?
Thank you.

Noone will cap magic. Melee takes a VERY long time to level because you have to hit something and archery takes a long time because arrows are fairly hard to get.
Not to mention skills deteriorate over time.
How long is a "Long time"? One year to cap a skill? two years?
I mean doesn't anyone else realize that at the very top the "elite" who will cap all skills will look and essentially be EXACTLY the same character. This is the problem of not having any classes.
It takes a quite long time LM takes under a couple of days macroing 24/7. I am not sure how long it would take with normal use probably months. Not surprisingly no one will opt for the normal use route.
You will absolutely have to macro to compete, no ifs, no buts, no question.
What is "LM"? And what is normal use route? And is Macroing LEGAL?
i played beta and disagree.
Im pretty sure you can max most skills like 90% of all skills playing 12 hours a day for 1.5 months. This game will SUCK because EVERYONE WILL BE EXACTLY THE SAME CHARACTER!
LM is the Lesser Magic spell circle. It has 8-12 spells in it. each spell gets leveled up seperately, but also contributes to the levelling up of lesser magic. once lesser magic hits 25, more spells are unlocked. at 50, more spells are unlocked, + the greater magic spell circle is unlocked. Once greater is at 50, other spell trees are ulocked, etc. Most skills in the game are like this... you must have 50 of something before you can unlock another skill which may also unlock another skill itself. By unlocking, i mean you'll be able to purchase/learn these skill once you meet the prerequesites.
No.... skills you don't use will deteriorate, + there will be skill caps. You can only have a certain total, or a certain amount allocated to certain skill trees etc.
nope once someone hits a soft cap it wont be possible with the skill degrade
Also i'm pretty sure there's spell circles that don't let you have others. If you have fire, you can't have water i think. I'm not sure how this would work if you wanted to go water after fire, probably you'd just ahve to delete all knowledge of fire before even attempting water.
Oh ok.. thats pretty cool then. Still would like to know how long it'll take to reach the "soft cap" where you capped all the trees the game will let you.
The skill system is supposed to be something like UO, so if you have played UO not all characters are the same, you can't just max out all the skills. I would think that is it similar to this in that aspect.
Im going to take a wild guess and say it'll take about 1000 hours of gameplay to CAP a character of a certain build?
You'll need to find a friend and duel with him all time as we did in Uo. One casts other raises resistance. etc etc.
Holy crap... then theres only going to be a handful of ELITE people who will own all the servers. People who can afford to play 24/7 (which I cant) They said NO GM interaction so how are GMs going to keep people from becoming UBER and killing everyone?
How much is RAW player skill part of PvP?
No.... skills you don't use will deteriorate, + there will be skill caps. You can only have a certain total, or a certain amount allocated to certain skill trees etc.
Now THAT'S something I didn't know about. Not the skill deterioration, but not being able to up ALL skills to the level you wish to maintain.
-2 buckets of sand from the sandbox
Are you kidding me??? Then everyone will be the freaking same character... don't you get it? EVERYONE WILL BE THE EXACT SAME CHARACTER
