Picking a prestige class will in most cases give you a few special skills, a few special spells, and you will have a certain status. There are limitations, tradeoffs and restrictions playing a prestige class character. Druids for example may never use metal armor after they are initiated, and Paladins have to give half of their earnings to their church.
Prestige classes may be interesting to some players, and some classes may give you an extra reason to role-play, or maybe give you an edge in combat or crafting. There will be many interesting prestige classes for you to try out.
Picking a prestige class is not final - you can change class later, with some minor penalties. The easy route would have been to make picking a prestige class final, but we want to keep Darkfall as open ended as possible.

NPC hirelings can follow you around and fight with you, they can carry your loot, they can perform skills and spells to aid you, etc. NPC hirelings can do pretty much everything that player friends can do. In addition,
NPC hirelings can be given advanced orders such as patrolling your city, looking for enemies, criminals, and thieves. They can be a vendor in your shop that you have set up, they can mine for minerals in a mine, they can go out into the forest and chop wood for you, or stand on the banks of a river fishing for you all day.

Why would people NOT want NPC hirelings? Yet again i fail to see any reason behind this, and i bet they've never even been ingame in any phase for anyone to test or judge, they just dropped it because they wen't over their heads with the programming difficulties of these kinds of NPCs

If you average out the server up time over the last month it is around 4 hours a day 6 at the absolute outside. For example the weeks starting Feb 2nd server was down pretty much the whole of the week, You remeber the dupe bug. Then of course they had big time sync issues that was 2 or 3 days. F*ck man you have a short memory.
Edit: as for entertainment at least the forums are avaialable all the time unlike DF.

actually, nearly all the promised content, save 4 legged running, no safe zones, and player housing, is in.
However 70% of the content isn't working properly. You can see where their 8 years were pent, since nearly all the features they promised are in the game. However, they seemed ot have not spent more than 2 minutes thinking about how to impliment the features, or even playing their game, because there are some major common sense fails here.
If this game doesn't tank, it will be an AMAZING game in 6ish months, however, Aventurine only has one chance to launch, and I'll rank this launch slightly below Vangaurd but above Age of Conan. (Since even Vangaurd had more working content than DF on launch, and look at the game now (its great, but no one plays it since it had a horrible launch, the same will happen to DF in 6 months, where only like 50k ppl play it)
Well Corpusc pleased to report the wine tasting was damn fine (if not life changing). Off for a little light luncheon (skipped dinner what with the wine and all). What have I missed here? How long did they keep the servers up then, more than 6 hours? Wonder if they will be down as long as the last time (beta) they worked on syncing? Lets hope not a. Toodle pip old chap.

What are the Prestige classes?
Prestige classes are special classes, like Paladin, Assassin, Gladiator, Enchanter etc. and it?s an optional path that you may choose for your character to follow. Picking a prestige class will in most cases give you a few special skills, a few special spells, and you will have a certain status. There are limitations, tradeoffs and restrictions playing a prestige class character. Druids for example may never use metal armor after they are initiated, and Paladins have to give half of their earnings to their church.
Prestige classes may be interesting to some players, and some classes may give you an extra reason to role-play, or maybe give you an edge in combat or crafting. There will be many interesting prestige classes for you to try out.
Picking a prestige class is not final - you can change class later, with some minor penalties. The easy route would have been to make picking a prestige class final, but we want to keep Darkfall as open ended as possible.

NPC hirelings can follow you around and fight with you, they can carry your loot, they can perform skills and spells to aid you, etc. NPC hirelings can do pretty much everything that player friends can do. In addition,
NPC hirelings can be given advanced orders such as patrolling your city, looking for enemies, criminals, and thieves. They can be a vendor in your shop that you have set up, they can mine for minerals in a mine, they can go out into the forest and chop wood for you, or stand on the banks of a river fishing for you all day.
Again... dropped because people didn't want them!

If you average out the server up time over the last month it is around 4 hours a day 6 at the absolute outside. For example the weeks starting Feb 2nd server was down pretty much the whole of the week, You remeber the dupe bug. Then of course they had big time sync issues that was 2 or 3 days. F*ck man you have a short memory.
Edit: as for entertainment at least the forums are avaialable all the time unlike DF.

actually, nearly all the promised content, save 4 legged running, no safe zones, and player housing, is in.
However 70% of the content isn't working properly. You can see where their 8 years were pent, since nearly all the features they promised are in the game. However, they seemed ot have not spent more than 2 minutes thinking about how to impliment the features, or even playing their game, because there are some major common sense fails here.
If this game doesn't tank, it will be an AMAZING game in 6ish months, however, Aventurine only has one chance to launch, and I'll rank this launch slightly below Vangaurd but above Age of Conan. (Since even Vangaurd had more working content than DF on launch, and look at the game now (its great, but no one plays it since it had a horrible launch, the same will happen to DF in 6 months, where only like 50k ppl play it)
