thoughts? opinions? whats to stop a guy with 2 accounts setting up his chars in the wilderness with potion and melee macros lvling up melee? Are there skill max lvls?

Like all MMO's no doubt, people will want to cheat - though, fully open PVP will heavily discourage hackers/cheaters/macroers. They'll just be killed/reported.

My first day of beta i found some guy macroing a tree.... took his 3ish hours worth of material
Haha if someone has the balls to sit in the wilderness with hundereds of thousands of gold worth of potions(it would cost so much its not even possible really) and level melee skills then more power to him.
Not to meantion the CD on pots would prevent it.
One person cheating to get ahead isn't going to have much of an affect on the thousands of other players in the game world. After guilds have had time to play and get organized DFO will probably become more of a large-scale pvp game anyway. Guilds that are known to cheat will be unpopular..
Sandbox = what you make of it.
The only thing in this game you have to "grind" or "macro" is harvesting, which is boring as all hell. Every other skill you level up by using it. If you want to shoot a tree all day, that's your choice, don't complain about a grind though.

Great this is what I'm talking about - When those Farmers/macroers constantly wake up to find they're chars killed 5 minutes after AFK, they'll get the picture.

Why do people assume that if there is a way to cheat or cut corners that all of us will automatically do such a thing?
If people choose to play the game via skill grinding and macroing, then they lack the creativity and patience to play the game. Furthermore, they don't understand how use the skills their grinded so it'll make them poor players.
It has been said time and time from many serious players that they will not macro while playing the game. I won't macro. I think it is shit. Play the game the way it was meant to be played or don't play it at all.
And so what if other people macro, I don't give a shit how other people want to play their games. It's all about how I play and my moral fortitude.

Hehe, that is at least partly a solution.
Still, he got his cutting skill up with a macro
People keep comparing this to AC. In AC if you didnt macro, you were a sub par player not because macroing was involved in pvp but because in order to get to a competitive lvl(a certain skill lvl) you had to macro to save time and frustration like everyone else. You people fail to understand that macroing is exclusively a time saver. When I say time saver I mean that in real time it may take longer than play time but with the game running all day if you are able to check up on it every couple of hours it works out much better in the long term. When there is a will, there is a way and Im just trying to learn. Weather you know it or not EVERY mmo is plauged with third party users. The game depends on the advantage ratio to using it vs not = number of ppl macroing.
It will ruin the game (for those that think its OK). They have very little time to sort it out, so far they have show they do not have the will or wherewithal to do so.
Incidentally the best thing to do is go red and bind at a populace chaos stone. You hope people will kill you (to grind thier faction) so that you a) get defensive skill ups and b) re-spawn with full mana. Btw when you grind mana missile aim at you own feet for the same reason. Couple of pro tips for you.
Ahhhh, if only the real world worked this way.
Exactly since this is a skill point game and using a skill increases the points thus making the character better macroing makes a lot of sense for the plethora of skills in the game. I have a feeling they will remove the self damaging lvling skills though haha thats just ridiculous.
Actually that is exactly how the real world works.
While cheats and others who cut corners get away with things for a short while, they invariably end up digging a hole so deep they cannot get out, leaving those who achieve their goals through ability and hard work to bury the losers.
Prisons all over the world are full of life’s cheats and the lazy who are looking to cut corners at the expense of others, and long may this continue. The only downside is, we have to put up with their incessant whining, claiming their lives were somehow harder than everyone else around them and they had no other options and were forced to cheat; give me a fucking break.
Sounds exactly like the losers who try to advocate or excuse the use of macros and other exploits in mmo’s.
My Colour Is Vomit green, I puke on the tards with stupid colour sigs. My symbol is ,,!, O ,!,, My enemies are any prat with a colour sig, a meaningless personality test, or a pointless list of games and classes.

since the game heavily discourages you to be anything but a melee main and archery secondary, as everything else is a HUUUUGE GRIND (its more fun to find a job and work than rescource gather for example), macroing is 100% ok in my book

Macroing is not exploiting when defined as taking advantage of an unintended section of game code/content. It simply is a 3rd party program running prefabricated key strokes or mouse clicks. Its not a cheat, its an innovation. And you are wrong. How does it makes sense that a player sitting at a resources hitting the buttons for an hour make them any better than someone having a program run through the cycle for him while he can do something else with his time? And how is this at the expense of another? Your arguement is opinionated and flawed. This is a video game. Pvp and perhaps pve tactics will always take practice and macroing a skill in order to raise its value does not make one better at these tactics. However in a game in which using a single skill increases that single skill macoring rules.
I think its good. let them macro. They harvest lots and keep needed materials in supply without us having to spend 100's of hours collecting them.
