That was my email to them. They replied within 10 minutes with:
We have investigated your case and have found that unfortunately your credit card charge was rejected. For more information please contact your credit institution.
We will try to re-process your pre-order tomorrow and we hope that this issue is resolved. Please log into account management as soon as it becomes available:
https://www.darkfallonline.com/accounts/f/default.php and update your information. Account management should become available later tonight. We are aware that the account management system is very busy due to demand. We would like to ask for your patience in dealing with this and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Heh. Biggest laugh anyone at CS can ever get into their mailbox.
Seriously though, are you sure the fault isn't at your end? I mean, does the card actually have credit on it left?
Otherwise, your CC input at the page might have been corrupted at some point, leaving wrong information. Confirmed by Tacos () not too long ago.
EDIT: Woops, misread, just saw it actually got charged. Ewww!
When you say your credit card "was charged"? What do you mean? Do you mean simply that the number appeared to be accepted during the pre-order process and that you were able to complete the pre-order transaction or have you actually checked your credit card charges and have verified that the charge was processed on your card?
If it's the former, then re-enter your info once the account management site is back up. If it's the latter and the charge was actually applied to your card, then Aventurine's customer service was obviously mistaken.

In other words they are basically saying:
Dear customer,
Thank you for CC details. We have succesfully charged your creditcard and now go screw yourself.
Tomorrow we are going to charge you again... and maybe... maybe then we will let you log in... or not.

That typically means you didn't have the funds available to pay for it, and your card was declined, or there system was so borked that it didn't realize it was a CC number.
I sent an almost identical email but that was 5hrs ago and haven't seen a reply yet.. whats the betting I get exactly the same cut'n'paste email response back.
I have the pre-order charge on my statement and it has cleared, plus as of 1hr ago I spoke to Barclaycard and have had no attempts for any further charges to the card and no declines.
I guess I wasn't charged. My CC has a spending limit because I'm only 20 and have no credit. I have to use my parents card.
No shit, I also sent an e-mail about 8/9 hours ago, no response. Also a Barclays customer, also spoke to them ~4 hrs ago, also had no attempts at billing my account.
It's at least comforting to know that other people are getting dicked around exactly the same way.
