Wow, seems they should have made ordering this game a bit easier. Some people may be turned off by the problems they are experiencing when ordering. Not a good sign, unfortunately.
And yes I know they posted this 4 hours ago, but I am going to post it again anyway because it has the answer to a question that's being asked like crazy on here. Official statement in update: We have processed the problematic accounts that were never charged but received a successful pre-order notification. Only a small percentage of these were successful and we found out that this is because most of them contain incomplete or incorrect account information. We will try this one last time again tomorrow morning European time, and we’ll open up account management later tonight for these accounts to be able to correct their account data and credit information before we reprocess them. If anyone does not want the pre-order to be processed, they should remove their credit card information from their account. After this is concluded we should be able to open up sales for more Darkfall copies.
Translation: 1.) Tonight, they are going to open the accounts page after it being closed for over 24h. 2.) Tomorrow morning (GMT I assume), all the people who pre-ordered and couldn't play are going to re-enter their information OR revoke their information if they decide they aren't interested in this crap. 3.) Once they finish that, new sales are up. I believe them. Why? Chances are they wouldn't announce this if the sales were ready. In fact, they were probably ready today at noon GMT like they said it would be yesterday, but they decided not to open up the sales until the disenfranchised pre-orders were addressed (it makes sense. Imagine if you pre-ordered and you got to play AFTER the second wave of sales).
We can HOPE, at least.
Processed preorders are playing the game right now. If you screwed up when you entered your credit card information or your card was declined, or if for any other reason they couldn't process the preorder they'll try again. That means you can either delete your info, if you want to cancel your preorder, or you can update your info and hope it goes through the second time.
WE DID NOT SCREW UP! ALL OUR INFO WAS CORRECT. IT WAS A CORRUPT DATABASE OR SOMETHING ELSE STUPID!
Seems the page is working smoothly now at least (checked it out, though didn't order, so I might be wrong). I found it funny though that on the Register side of the page, you get: "Get ready to enter the World of Darkfall..."
Son of a . . . I have been receiving that Network Timeout error forever, especially when the pre-order link was leaked. Now I created a new account and it took my CC right away. Man, if I would have just done this before, I would have had a preorder and would be fighting invisible goblins, running in place, and crashing to the desktop right now. I really missed out.

Sorry but according to Tasos the mistake was on your end nothing on there end. Just deal with the fact the mistake was your fault!
DOAC is still the MMO I judge other games by, My first and still my favorite.
Well I went to the page and created an account. I was not asked for any CC information but the message was that i would get an email with a link where I would be able to activate the account. I figured that the link is where they would ask for the CC information.
Got the email in less than 2 minutes. Clicked on the link and got the message that there was no such user account or something to that effect. Page refreshed to the original login/create account page. Put in the login and pass word and got..."Incorrect account name/password combination " Tried this several times and nothing. Soooo, I created a new account, email came... then same exact thing happened. This time i let it be and came here to see if anyone has had the same problem.

Should say account activated after you click the link
Just made an account and it worked, then it went to billing information..
Says this though so I don't think I can put in CC info...
Page is back up so people who Pre-Ordered and want to cancel can cancel now. (if they haven't been billed fully yet)
They said they aren't taking any more orders until they get everyone who pre-ordered into the game and fix the bugs that are flushed out from having a real load on their servers for the first time.

OH!!! So THAT'S what real Beta testing is for... It's suddenly so clear.
I know, testing gets cut first on most projects I've worked on. Their is actually business logic and formulas that show management when testing will pay back more than just shipping with the bugs and fixing later.
Add to that problems of running out of funding and being overdue on loans, and you are forced to either throw the project away or ship it with bugs and fix them inline.
Add to that the limited staff size and lack of experience with large scale network projects and it isn't hard to see how these guys didn't even expect these problems at release. They are just newbs, but they will learn fast if they are smart. If they are smart, things will get better fast. If that is the case, we can have some faith in the game. If not, then I wouldn't trust them until you can go to the store and buy a copy where you can return it in 30 days for any reason.
Frotus I disagree with one this... why not have had predorders today? open stress test on the 23rd... heck AV didn't even get money for the order untill today or last night cause of all their problems... I work in a big corporation.... testing is a big part of a successful business.

I've been shamelessly trying to put it into every new thread dealing with this colossal failure of a game. I'm bad I know, but I can't help but get a thrill from seeing all of these guys who were so excited about 'FFA FUll loot PvP no carebears allowed!' getting owned by their own game. It'll be better in a week when the replies of 'Every game has problems at launch, just look at WoW.' turn to 'You can't judge a game by the first month of release, give it a couple months, then you'll see!'. What I like the best are the ones who feel that the launch, no matter how terrible it is should 'Put those trolls in their place!' Yep, we see now how great this game is. It lives up to every expectation I had for it.
And this is launching with only a fraction of the players of other MMOs. There were approximately 50,000 subscribers during AO launch (I was there), which is often said to be the 'worst launch.' I can confirm that's not true. There were numerous problems in AO at the start but none of them compare to pre-orders not being able to play or people not even able to buy the game. AO's launch was way smoother than this. If you weren't playing the game during AO launch, it was because the servers were down for patching or because you didn't buy the game.
I think there's more to meets the eye here... AV was using alot the problems as excuses to a larger problem most likely. Who cares, if billing is down, let the people that submit there card info to play... their payments don't go through once all the billing probs are fixed, cut them off... that simple
Only a small percentage of these were successful and we found out that this is because most of them contain incomplete or incorrect account information.
A quote from AV staff... Do they think we are dumb... isn't it usually obvious if a card doesn't go through, most of the time it's the wrong info ... ie name, address, cc number, ectra? I mean this is stupid... put 1 and 1 together... card declined, move on the next problem... why battle for days with declined cards?

I know it is a big part of success, but it still gets cut. I think these guys are newbs and don't even realize a lot of the things they need to know to deploy a MMO.
They probably did this.... CPU = 5% with 100 people on the server. So we can run the server at like 80% CPU with 1600 people on it, YAY! Wrong!! lol Performance is not linear at all.
I've spend 4 days after a release just trying to get basic functions fixed. I've seen people locked out of their accounts for 2 weeks while dev tried to fix encryption problems. And this was for a large web site that should have known better lol
The official reason is that AV 'didnt anticipate this many players.' Think about that for a moment...Even some of the oldest MMORPGs have 20,000 or more subscribers, and they were expecting 10,000 (and couldn't even handle that)...so yes, the answer to your concern there is just that this is a bad company (in case you didn't realize that yet )
Ok I know nothing about programming but played MMO's for a long time... follow suit... it's obvious, don't see how noobs is an excused... Every mainstream MMO that was release in the last 2-3 years at multiple servers... now why would AV just follow suit, what makes them better that they think they do it with one? it's stupidy... if I was making a MMO and new how hyped it was... I wouldn't release like they did... heck no... don't give them any excuses... they incompitent... might be a good game, but I don't think the devs are cleaver enough to make the game last. Most of the cleint is on client side, wide open for hackers
take a look at their forums when it was up they had 100k+ members, atleast use tha as an example 100k people interest... ok if we only get 30K after the game is released, wait a month reduce servers, easy... no they're running like chickens with their heads off to set up more servers and such... a problem tehy could have avoided

I can't register an account. It gives me a vague error and tells me to contact my administrator. Any fixes/ideas?
The ultimate solution to every problem: more space marines.

If AV can't deliver a product on time, what gaurentees updates and expansions, this is so amateurish.
