I have to say, its currently fail.

It isnt irrecoverable, but I have started looking at Mortal Online, and Face of Mankind to see if I can go elsewhere.

That said, it would make my year if Tasos gets his shit together, but my hope is dwindling.

    Can't tell yet!

... on the sole reason that all mmo's should be only judged well after launch and when all content (or lack of it) and all pro's and cons are out in the open. Gimme a couple of months and I'll get back to you, k?

I think the release was kind of fail, but if we give it time it will be win.

I'd call the launch a fail, but the game is another matter.  It may take some time, months even, but I believe after they fix their problems, people may enjoy this niche game.  Granted, its not my cup of tea, but I'm rooting for this little Indy company.  Maybe, next time, an Indy company will release a game that I can be a "ravenous fanboi" of.  Here's to hoping...

I want to say win (because I know how much fun the game can be as I was in beta) but I'm leaning towards fail because AV pushed the release without doing a proper stress test - both billing and game world.

That being said, I'll wait a week before passing any judgements.

This game will always have a loyal following. If people cannot understand that from all the discussions here, there is no hope for you. How it grows or even survives is another matter and frankly only time can answer that.

Yeah, that's true.  I mean, even World War 2 Online still has a loyal following.  And there again you have a very niche game.

As someone who really loves the feature set of Darkfall I am absolutely crushed that its going through the crap it is.

How do we stop giving MMO companies the freedom to release crap while we gladly pay for it?  Although what you say is traditionally true, the fault is partially ours for accepting medioctiry (at best) as the status quo on release day.

It's so fail it may just become a winning failure.

Honestly for now fail with all this terrible release, but who didn't see that coming like a nuke. Only time will tell how it actually turns out in the long run though.

Game is great so far dudes.

Serious death penalties makes every close call an adrenaline rush, and every minor achievement a major victory. This alternative rule-set should be in all MMORPGs.

It's a win, best game I've ever played so far. Can't get off it. Hmm... now where did I put those chips... lol jk jk.

Love the sinner, hate the sin.

I actually tried WWII online a bit ago, if you look past the gfx built back in the day before the first video cards where ever expected, the game is actually really fun. Nothin beats hitching a long ride on a tank for about a half hour only to be dive bombed by a fighter. At least we had a good time chattin it up along the way XD. Some people may consider that an extrodinary waste of time, but really the social aspect of the game is almost suprising considering it is a FPS. You always find time to chat, especially doing base drops, you have plenty of time to chat before you parachute down to your almost certain death.

Or if you are lucky and make it to past the ground to air defense shooting at you softies, you will have a nice death on the ground advancing to your target drop target. Sometime the transport plane itself will have a wing shot off from enemy fighters if you dont have good wingmen supporting you, and you and all your comrades will spiral into a flaming doom with bodies sparkling the ground around the base.

If  succesfully escaped the spiraling transport plane of doom, you would find youself too low for a parachute to make and difference and be rewarding by a soft yet elegant crunching sound as you smack the ground at 200+ mph. All the while cursing your friends that got lucky enough to be killed instantly in the birrage of gunfire that origionally destroyed the wing and shot through the hull of the plane.

Yep, I hear good things.  The release was awful though.  I forget how epic fail it was from time to time, but actually it was really quite bad.   Forever staring at patch screens.  No connectivity.  Fail fail fail.  I have no desire to try it again, but at one point I was really gung ho about it.

Wonder if the same thing will happen with Darkfall... its an eerily similar circumstance.

Inevitably if Tasos gets the servers up in the next 12 hours and everything is smooth from here on in you know we will all forgive him and buy him beers...  but that seems a long way from where we are.

I'm fairly sure from this point on people will try to look back and determine which launch was worse, Dark and Light or Darkfall. That's how horrible their launch was.

btw, I got my money back from this and I still have access to the game xD.

    Launch = Major Fail

    Communication - Major fail

How are issues addressed: Major Fail

    Game = Unknown

So until they get their billing together and allow more people to join, I just dont' know.  So No Opinion on the "game".  Everything else is a fail so far.

I will still go with Dark and Light being the worst launch between the two.  Dark and Light is still listed here so there is hope for the Darkfall fans.

How did you do this?  There are no forums, no IRC.  I admit I havent bothered to try email.  Did you phone them?  The LD would cost more than my account.

Yeah - I am definately going to go this route - what did you do to get it done?

    Meh -

122 people so far disagree with you.

Besides, won't be interesting to put another poll up in a month and see how the numbers change?

    ...

(assuming the servers come up that is )

The launch consist of only 5k or 6k people, if the release of a game sucks, the game sucks and will never gain any subs, and then it folds.

So, if the next 3 weeks is bad, then Darkfall is bad and will flop!  You cannot have one without the other and your comments are laughable and what many beta testers have been screaming. Even if small portions of this game are enjoyable, the parts that aren't will take soooo long to get fixed becuse Tasos tackles issues over months...

Darkfall doesn't have months! Mortal Online and other games head into beta in just a few months, dragging a majority of Darkfall's fanbase with them. Nobody wants to WASTE time developing a character within a buggy game, only to have them go bankrupt!

Darkfall Launch, lead by pre-order fiasco and in-game mediocrity levy's a failure.

Too bad people that haven't even played the game are voting in this poll.

I'd expect the same thing happens when people rate this game aswell.

I think that's one of the problems, people who want to play...can't.  So, isn't that a fail?

This is about the whole Darkfall experience, of which playing the game is a part.

Tasos, and his legendary communication, is also part.

    This is an overall thing.

Lol, if this is an "overall" thing, then why have a poll asking whether the game is win or fail, and its only the second day since launch.  Everybody knows it takes weeks, if not months to have a full experience for an mmorpg.  Unfortunately, people are so ready to judge a game, in most cases a game that they haven't even played, based simply off of it's launch.

Also, if this poll is an "overall" thing, then it is silly to only have "win" "fail" and "no opinion".  What if the gameplay is amazing, but obviously the customer service is lacking?  Does that mean the game is win or fail?  Everything cant be black or white.

I know op was just kidding around when he made this poll but I think this thread reflects how subjective some of the people on this site are.
