The game isn't as bad as everyone says and it has great combat but for me I can't get used to seeing a loading screen every 5 mins and really wish'd they would make it seamless.

  • NinebaiiNinebaii Member Posts: 20

loading screen every 5 min? why u running from zone to zone lol. u only have a loading screen when u switch zones which is like going from hellfire peninsula to zangarmarsh in wow lol who runs back and forth i'd spend several hours in 1 zone questing and u dont get loading screens in dungeons unless just walking in a dungeon :P

Its more a case of everyone bought a game that was promising one thing and actually got another. People dont like to be deceived where moneys involved, and a lot of the big features people wanted in AoC werent available at release, some still arent available even now, that leaves a bitter feeling.

it's bizarre how even though the game has bled subs like crazy, there is still an inordinate amount of recently registered users praising the game as the best thing ever. Even if they had 200k subs, the amount of these posts still don't add up

I honestly think funcom has people employed for viral marketing

You know AoC really does not look like such a bad game. yes maybe the people who first wanted to play it were promised something and didnt get it. Well thats why I NEVER buy a game at relese. I dont know much about AoC I did not research the game and analyze how it was going to be so I think to me a guy who just wants a better mmorpg in terms of overall quality of game play than WoW I am going to get that out of AoC. I might give it a shot soon. Seems like a decent game to wait for Aion on.

It is not easy to come back from a bad release.

AoC is a Niche mmo now similar to Vanguard.

I personally will check it out again in about six months to see what the devs are doing.

in this day and age if you cant bring something to the table other than a standard fantasy themepark then dont bother.

Problem is still lack of content. While there may be enough content to get you to 80. Its just enough content. People start to lose the enthusiasm to play once hitting level cap and starting alts. Everyone MUST run tortage again, and its almost the same each time. After Tortage if you've leveled once, you're going to be repeating a lot. Not a big deal for some but for the kind of people who like to level up different kinds of chars to see wha they like it can become a bit of a drag. I think a lot of people who cancelled didn't cancel in their first month but in their second or third.

Also crafting seems pretty un-inspired, which is important to some. The zoneing and instancing are unacceptable to others. The PvP system is still being worked on and while some like it, a lot don't.

So a lot more to it than just the additional content they've added.

IMO its a myth that for AoC the launch was bad and that caused problems. I think more realistically it was a good (relatively speaking) launch of what many thought was a bad game.

Sounds like id probably enjoy it. Limited content not a problem. I play only about 10-12 hours a week. I should really give that game a go.

Also until FC offers a welcome back free trial for people who left what would make them change their view?

For a casual player (15-10 hours a week) you have so many MMOs to play.

Most of the mmos out are limited at endgame, If you take along time to get to it and dont try to rush everything games like WAR, AoC , LotRO and Vanguard are really enjoyable and the content is truely unlimited if you take forever to level and are an Altaholic like most casual players are.

AoC is a pretty easy level'er even for a casual player. One of the problems is replayability. Running alts can really highlight the limited scope of the game.

I started an anti Funcom site, failcom.XXX

And even I think the game has improved and actually played it recently for a month.

It is "this close" to being a great game now. I am not kidding.

Do females still do less damage than males?

Did they ever fix the boob shrink?

Good question. At the time I remember they 'fixed' it by nerfing male damage becuase it would be a big project to redo the anims for the females to correct the slightly slower attack speed which I believe was the cause of the lesser damage output.  I don't know what ever happened with that project though.

The game didn't have a "bad start"....it was a bad game.  The only way to fix this is to start from scratch.  It is fundamentally flawed.  And no, the graphics in that game weren't good at all (only the texture quality).

The game was really fun when I played it.

However I got into WAR and have been enjoying it more.

I recommend AoC. It's definitely worth the money.

I liked AOC enough but left it for a while as they made improvements. Went to play WAR which was fun but I got a little bored running from keep to keep and retaking strategic points. It is kinda like a giant game of tug of war. Not to say it is not fun. Anyway, recently went back to AOC and am really enjoying it. Ymir's Pass is a great zone and the adds to Thunder River are good too.

That is very unfair of you to say. I recently started playing AoC. Just a average Joe starting to play AoC. And I can tell you I am not alone. It's really crazy how many low level characters that are running around. This game seem to gain subscribers now. Well, I don't know, but the activity I see ( I am level 20) doesn't match the doom posts.
