I have never in my life played an mmo where they are so full of shit when it comes to eta and time lines as dfo is, and have never played an mmo where they keep people in the dark as much as they do here!
This is just rediculious. This is why companies hire public relations people to deal with their communities instead of letting the computer nerds who never leave their house and have no people skill interact with their public.
Never have I seen such incompatence when it comes to communication and misinformation.
Give us a damn update other than that no eta bullshit. this 3-4 hour patch has turned into 10 hours now! with no explinations or updates! fuck aventurine needs to get their shit together already, this is just rediculious

They need to get the servers stable before the official start to the weekend. Otherwise, all hell will break loose.
I am quite confident that we'll see a lot more uptime after this patch.

its true tho there has been no real official update since 3 this morning..
sure there was a message popping up on web chat saying patch was in final stage but thats gone now
one good bit of news is that you can now create new accounts on the acconut page could not even do that this morning.

Sure. Seriously. Even SOE and Funcom have the basic skill of writing and are able to post on their website/forum when maintenance is extended and update their playerbase. Even if it's just bad news.
AC1, AC2, DDO, LoTRO - all turbine, never had ANY lack of info from them on ANYTHING. If servers were down they would tell us why, and give us an eta and if it went over they would tell us why and give us another eta, and so forth and so on.
Same with every other mmo ive played. This is just getting beyond rediculious. we were a half a day ago that in a few hours we would be back ingame, now a half a day later we havent heard a response from them in 10 hours as to wtf is goin on.
Yes I have never experienced this lack of courtesy for the player base in any mmo I have played. AND YES we are the player base now, we HAVE paid them! this shit aint free no more, they are being payed! they need to keep the people paying their paychecks informed as to whats going on instead of ignoring them and avoiding the issues. period

In beta this was fine, but now that we have paid they really need to start communitcating much better.

I was thinking it might be up by the weekend, now I'm not so sure. If it's taking this long and they thought it'd only be 3 - 4 hours then there must be some major issues and major debating going on. We should start betting on when it'll be up; using darkfall gold (that we dont have)...we'll just make it IOU's. I think it'll will be up and running by next weekend.
Yeah their PR is pretty amazing, and I guess I've learnt from this, that no matter the intentions, no matter the passion, no matter the marketing, day 1 is pretty useless. I waited for 2 weeks before joining AOC...I should have done the same for this. I think we're in for a very bumpy ride for the first month.
The other thing I've learned from this is to pay attention to who is making the MMO, if they've done it before and launched it successfully then I can hold some hope. If its Bioware doing their first MMO: Star Wars, then I won't be touching that for at least 2 weeks, maybe a month.
As for them updating us; its very frustrating but I'd rather they didn't waste money on PR and instead put it into the game. At least thats what I thought was going on with DF, can you imagine the disaster if they had run an expensive marketing campaign? It would be so nice though if we just had an hourly 1 sentence update on whats going on...have they all gone to bed? are they stuck? is it almost finished?
I wonder why they didn't ask for volunteer testers, with the passion behind this game I would have thought there would be a few pro testers out there who wouldn't mind helping out. I know that highly unprofessional and comprimising, but testing is so damn important...
side note, funny how much DF has tanked in the MMORPG rankings over just a day. Before launch it was 8.25? now its down inside 6; just infront of SWG and behind AOC...
Putting BIOWARE in the same light as AV is just BS on your part. Bioware have not made a mmorpg but they have made some fantastic games UNLIKE AV.
