Putting the issue of stress tests aside, can someone give me a plausable explanation for these post-release bugs? Why would release cause issues that beta didn't cause? Isn't testing for bugs the whole point of beta? You'd think these issues would have been taken care of during that phase.
I must be overlooking something.
Why is release causing bugs that beta didn't cause? What's the difference here, aside from the higher server population?

Not really wanting to be labelled a troll here, but it would seem that most of these issues were in beta, especially the sync issues and mob AI problems .
The fact people were here claiming, along with tasos, that things like AI were the most advanced in MMO history has been the main problem in my view, and why now the reaction to those faults are , in reality, out of all proportion.
It was simply hyped far too much.
I agree completely, and I must admit I was fishing. Dont feel bad for having bitten, most people probably feel the same way as you do.
Now I have a question. Why was Darkfall released in this state?
Because they were never fixed.

Thats easy, they ran out of money.
People should stop defending it really, they messed up , they took peoples money,so stand up, be men and take the flak for it.
Its not the end of the world for an MMO to release in a poor state.
It can be the end of the world for an MMO if the customers feel they are being taken for a ride.
Havent followed launch closely enough to know the specific problems (but im guessing they are large problems due to darkfalls forums still being down)
I was in beta and can confirm that mob AI was rubbish and buggy pretty much right across the board, it wasnt even as advanced and polished as other MMOs let alone Q3 Bots...
Also sync issues and glitching in PVP were always an issue and while they improved the problem alot it was still there and that was with what 500 odd people playing at once in beta (i know they invited more than that but that was about how many played at once during peak times)
There are countless other problems, including mammoth balance issues to do with weapons, magic, races, crafting was gimped, sieging was poorly thought out, mob AI was to easy to exploit, dungeons were bugged and farmable for high end gear... and so on.
There were numerous polls in the beta forums asking them not to release, to delay and sort these issues out, but they didnt listen and the fanbois tooted on about this mystical hail mary patch which would fix all this and enable the countless missing features, well surprise surprise it didnt happen and they have basically charged people €50 for a beta game... lmao i KNEW DFs launch would be a disaster...

One would think running out of money should be a gradual thing. Why does this all seem like it was a frantic and unplanned decision? The release date was hastily announced and the beta tests were hastily conducted.
Shouldn't AV have known about this money problem for a while, and planned accordingly? Is AV not a successful defense contractor in Greece? Are they really out of money, or has the project simply reached its budget?
Its all speculation obviously, but I would think the most obvious reason is that the investors simply cut them off and refused to give any further funding without some return.
In the current economic climate, and 8 years of devlopment, I think any reasonable investor would start to get itchy feet and want to see some product out there and a guage on income before releasing further capital.
Couple of "theories" for you:
They were seen in Beta... just not to the same extent.
The sync issues were a known issue in Beta, but it wasn't as big of a problem because of the lower population and not everyone was trying to login all at the same time.
I think they are going to have to change their logout/login procedure. One of the problems with the current game design is that everyone logs back into the game at their bindstone instead of where they logged off from.
It would help clear up the congestion around the bindstone if they changed that part. If that is not possible, then perhaps they could add a bit of code that would randomly place you x meters away from the bindstone when you log back in.
Another "theory" as to why some of the issues are popping up now:
They didn't Beta test the game on the same hardware that the game is now running on. They were hoping that the larger cluster would make all the issues with adding more players go away. Apparently they didn't, and some problems only got worse.
Another part to this is that they never fully stressed the server to see what it's true cap was. That is one of reasons some were saying that the Beta wasn't being run on the Release hardware.
At this point if I were part of the team, I would suggest that:
Most likely won't happen... but that is what I'd suggest.
