Sync issues

"We’re aware that some areas are experiencing sync issues for some players. This is a high priority issue that we are working to address as soon as possible. We know the cause for it so it shouldn’t take very long. We will keep the servers up while this is being fixed and we will bring them down for a patch later tonight. For now, players can move away from starting areas to improve their experience."

So what is the cause for it?

Too many players or is it really a bug they can just fix?

No matter where I went and how many times I relogged I was out of sync all day couln't hit anything and mobs & players were warping all around..

I'm not here to whine I think I would like DF if I would get a chance to play it, but I think they should open up another server for the people already in before they let more people in.. It's way too crowded anyway.

    This occured in beta.  It was fixed quickly.  There are several maintenance type things planned soon.  AV already said they were going to leave the servers up until they had the fix ready.  Should be soon.

    Same problem for me too, can't hit anything no matter which starter town I choose.  Might be a memory leak or something on the server.

    And I doubt they could open another server if they even wanted to at this point....

    I had the same sync issues in beta. I'm suprised they say that they finally have found the cause for this... In previous beta builds they already claimed the sync issues to be fixed, but for me they never were.

    From my beta experience I found out it doesn't happen right away when you log in. It takes anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes to start going bad. You can notice it right away when casting mana missile or firing an arrow... They will come from behind you, or not show up at all. It's also much worse in some area's than others, for example I had very minor issues in the human capital city, but at human "quest hubs" (Lainstone, ect.) it was nearly unplayable, to the point where I automaticly disconnected whenever I went into such an area for 2 minutes.

    Can you guys post here when this patch goes live and tell me if you are still having sync issues? This is one of the few things holding me back from actually buying the game (when I can).

    This doesnt happen afer being logged in for a while it is happening universally.  At least for me.  This is what happens, let me know if this is what happened in beta too:

    I can not see the goblins but they are hitting me.  When I do see them they appear to be in one spot, but they really aren't there, they are somewhere else I can not see.

    It even appears like players are "stuck" in one spot - like they will be stuck in a running animation but not moving...

    If I were stuck in game, I'd have a better screen-saver than being stuck in queue.

    I have heard other beta testers talk of invisible players and different sync-type issues. I never had those myself, I mainly had a very lag-like experience (ping never really leaving the 40-60 range), being pretty much unable to hit mobs or players because their location on my screen is where they used to be 5-6 seconds earlier, and they will just slide around me a bit... Other players can't hit me either as they see me flying and teleporting all over the place, which did lead to some fun player encounters in beta...

    This is a sad day where at launch the entire integrity and the balance of power is completely tainted by the sync issues.

    What makes it worst is that the legitimate players are double whacked by not being able to hit mobs(1), also with guilds that are exploiting high level mobs where they are claiming the prime city plots(2).

    It's like hitting the honest players and guilds while they are down on the ground...

    DFO should consider a server wipe or they will have one of the worst game launches in history in their hands if they dont roll back the servers to its original balance state where everyone is on the same level field...
