Hi.

Have we finally all learned our lesson in getting all wide eyed, and frothy over upcoming MMO releases yet? Are people ALWAYS going to say "OMG....[insert ANY new MMO]..is going to change the whole face of MMORPG's forever!!! "Finally....a game that brings me back to the GLORY days of UO, and Dungeons and Dragons, where I could play a Chaotic Good Hooker/Thief!!!!!"

People should have seen this coming a MILE away, but instead, we could see the DF forums just filling up with Feb 09ers all asking the same dumb questions over, and over. All stating "I've been following DF for 2 years now, BUT, I just made an account" If you HAD been following it, you'd of held of, or at least not been surprised at this.

What is happening now, is a big reason, I, and others have NOT pre-ordered, and sitting back laughing at the mayhem. There was NO WAY, DF was gonna launch smoothly. They could barely keep the forums up for god's sake.

Everyone needs to do themselves a favor, and next MMO..(/cough...MORTAL ONLINE /COUGH!)...close to release, you try and take it with a grain of salt before jumping in all wishy washy, and crying after you realize all your hopes and dreams have been once again shattered.

Hope for the best, EXPECT the worst.

I agree with this, this game will be great once its in launch state (2 more months), you guys that are buying it now and complaing that its horrible are bafoons, you're buying a closed beta account, of course its going to suck.

But, like i said before, if you want to play a great mmo, leave DF be for 2+months AND COME BACK (unlike what y'all did to vangaurd which is a decent game now), otherwise DF will end up like vangaurd and a good game will become unprofitable.

Well i'm a self confessed fanboi, but didn't preorder. Half because of lacking the inhuman dedication to preorder with the horribad lag, and half because i already saw what i needed to in the beta. The game is there, it's good and entertaining for me and in the end i'm glad i'll spare myself the rocky ride to server stability.

Welcome to the world of MMOs. The people who fund these projects need a return on their investment, even if its privately funded by the developers. The reason being is that in order to keep the game alive they need capital. Furthermore, when the investor isn't in the biz he or she only cares about the bottom line and maximizing potential. If DF had been released 3-4 months from now it would have to compete directly with MO and Rise. So expect this to happen with every game until a person with bill gates money decides to fund a project and doesn't care about quick returns.

No....no you won't. I played Beta long enough to know this though. I have no idea what "mining the billing site" means, so I will just pretend you're retarded and ignore it.

If you do get to kill me, I can only hope you enjoy the 10 gold, and uber Goblin gear you get off me. Maybe if your lucky, I will have some Troll goodies too. (sometimes I get lazy, and don't put all my good stuff in the bank)

Heh... I agree.

I said quite some time ago that without a true Open Beta I'd be holding off buying the game. I do like some of the things that were originally part of DarkFall's design. The dev. journals; especially those from 2-3 years ago described a game that I thought would be fun to try.

Unfortunately the game as presented today is not what was described in the Dev. Journals in my opinion.

A month or two into the Release should give a pretty good idea on what the direction DarkFall will take. I'm still hopeful that the game might yet turn out to be a pretty nice game for it's fans. A free trial a few months into it once they have things working decently, and they should be able to put a lot of this behind them.

I still hold to the tenant that they would be in much better shape without the baggage of Tasos. Much like Funcom has started making strides towards improvement after Guate was let go.

But, I will openly admit that is my own personal beef... so I'll leave it at that.

I agree with this thread 100%, everyone do yourself a favor. This game has a good solid UO enlightened MMO component. Do not buy the game and get turned off by the horid bugs. Wait a couple months just like everyone shouldve when every MMO is release. AoC, WAR. People immediatly jump in and cancel subs because the developers are yet to learn how to release a game. LotrO is the only game i could keep playing without bug interference.

WAIT, DONT BUY THE BETA!!

Wow, that's calling the whole shebang in the begining of the first quarter (not usually a smart thing to do so early on)... there are many other mmo's slated to come out this year. I bet all the trekkies might say the pending STO release in Q4 might be pretty darned anticipated. I bet there are far more trekkies then there are darkfallies. And back on the topic at hand. Folks, people do what they think will make them the most money and that includes telling fibs. As far as the game itself, yeah it's pretty lame, just live with it or don't and move on. Oh and just so I can get my really mean little comment in for people to cry over; I've seen better constructed all text MUD's.
