- If this game is officially "released" then how come it isn't in retail or online stores to be purchased?
- Realizing that none of you are in any way officially representing DF and can not give exact definitive statements as to when something may occur with progression to the current state of this game, given your experience with the following of DF and popularity it has obtained what then is the current reasoning being said concerning the "limited release" that is currently in place with only "Big Guilds" and "Pre-Orderers" being allowed to have access to the game?
-Every MMO launches with bugs it seems, but my question is...wasn't there a Closed BETA for this game? If this is the release, how come it seems to be more like an Invitational BETA?
-How come there is no record of DarkFall at any of the major retail websites like EBGames or GameStop, not even a record stating a pending release date with the option to pre-order? When (or even will) the game be available to purchase at retail stores?
-How much is a DarkFall subscription monthly? And are they charging current subscribers?
-How much is a copy of DarkFall? Where can I buy it if it were even available?
-How long a duration of time do you estimate will pass before they begin to allow anticipating players to purchase and subscribe to DF and get in game?
-Will this "launch" be treated more like a BETA and last weeks to months to iron out bugs before allowing regular and casual gamers (yes I know the game is geared towards hardcore) into the mix?
Thanks. I know the questions are all pretty obvious, hence the title of the thread. I'd just like to get some clear answers from those who may be following DF a little bit closer then others. I've been anticipating it and every MMO seems to have a shaudy buggy launch, but it just seems really weird to me how DF's "launch" leave me unable to even purchase the game or get into a server. Hopefully they work it all out and it doesn't end up being a dissapointment...but there are plenty of other threads to complain, whine, gripe and prophesize about DF's impending doom. Please use those to voice your concerns, and please use this thread to assist in clearing up some of these...

I didn't know or care about the other questions...
Awesomeness
"Nerf Rock, Paper is fine. Regards, Scissors."
I heard DF is so hardcore, you have to try and take it from Chuck Norris to get a copy!
the limited release didn't target large guilds.
look at it like you would a popular concert. there are just so many tickets available and the people who are more determined to get them, spend more time for them and are ready for them when they come out, they will increase their chances.
that makes sense...

- It's an independent release, they seem to be self publishing, or AVE (aduio visual enertainment (?)) didn't give them a very good publishing contract.
- They don't have the funds to support the technical end to support anymore customers then they're letting in at the moment.
- Yes, there was a closed beta, but it was limited, and they didn't do any type of public stress test, nor release client testing (it seems)
- Small european developer with no large publisher, and basically no budget for "normal" advertising/distribution
- I believe it comes out to about 15$ a month US, with 30 (33) free days, as of 2/25, so everyone will be charged on 3/28
- 52$ US, only available through their website via download, but purchases have been disabled until further notice
- Hopefully the will open up purchases again once they get their current billing/account problems solved, along with stabalizing the client/server
- So far, it appears more of a "paid beta test" release, but it's heaps better then mourning/dnl.. It's very possible that they can get things together, and fix their problems, as long as they work their asses off. There are bugs, exploits, etc, but nothing that can't be fixed in a timely manner. Here's to hoping they prove themselves, and get on the ball! Hopefully they'll be able to get the servers on tonight and they stay reliable.
Unfortunately there is no international law that sets the guidelines for what a release is. The Devs can burn the game to CDs and them frisbee them out of the window to the public and call it a release. Atlease the ensuing clusterf#!k would be more fun than this.
1. The client is free. It is available via Torrent or other online distribution sources.
2. The limited release is only pre-order players so far - not "big guilds" as well. Further expansion is waiting until the sync issues created by the Launch Patch are corrected.
3. First, it's not invitational. Second, they obviously weren't expecting the Launch Patch to create these sync issues. Hence the extra 3 free days reimbursement, and the frantic all-hours working.
4. Why would they sell the game at retail stores? They obviously don't need the extra advertising, and their core audience is experienced MMO players - not newbies who pick up random games they see at Gamestop. Why waste the extra investments and deal with the extra complications of boxed sales internationally when they can distribute the client so much more easily via Torrent, and get more profit by just charging $35 for accounts?
5. Subscription is ~$15/month, going down to about ~$12/month on the longer payment periods. No one has been charged so far for these past days, since they were reimbursed with free days to cover these issues.
6. A copy of Darkfall is free. You can find it via torrent (primary) or file distribution sites, like filefront.
7. Less than 24 hours.
8. No. It will transition into a full launch as soon as the sync issues are corrected.
You can download the client for no cost, but in order to setup an account, you will need to pay the 52$ (roughly) to play.. They charged an extra 3 bucks for preorders, but hopefully that extra charge will be gone when they reopen purchases, seeing as the game is released, and all.
this game is so hard core, you even get griefed and looted from the company that makes it.
Hope this helps!
The "extra" 3 bucks goes toward the purchase of the game. It's not an extra charge.
!!
i know its probably a STUPID question because you probably have no idea, but I'm wnodering why they never attempted the Free2Play format. Seems like they have a big enough following to fund their game in this method.
Well thanks for clearing things up for not only me but to others as well. In all honest DF looks to be one of the better MMO's on the market right now, one that I'm specifically interested in playing. I hope they work out more of the bugs and let more people in as soon as they can.

Because they plan on selling box sets later so that the long term followers will have some newb sauce with the rest of their meal.
It's 42 euros and has a monthly charge that I can't remember because I don't really care.
oh one last request before i part with this thread, you said the client was free and available on torrent or filesharing sites. I don't want to DL something useless, if anyone could post a proper link to the client so that those of us who are waiting could be a bit more prepared to go when new account are made available...I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks again for all the information and hopefully we'll all be killing each other in-game soon.
RDYUP.com - Connect.Compete.Game (My Website)
wait until the mess with server and billing will be fixed (couple days, next week at most)
then go to forums.darkfallonline.com and all the info to download and everything will be there
thanks my dudes
ill see yall in-game and we can all hate each other and call each other names and borderline illegal threaten each other and determine which one of us is the bigger loser and who gets laid the most and shit talk the developers and prank the GMs and all that great MMO stuff. see you there!

Don't have time for a full response but here's a few words.
The game IS released, and the reason its availability is limited is because the demand for the game is much MUCH higher than the servers support. In order to keep them from crashing, there's a limited amount of copies being released.
As the game becomes more stable and more servers are added, more copies will be available. No one was invited, nor were any "big guilds" let into release. It was all first come first serve.
Retail copies will be available in stores via Audio Visual.
Yes, this game was beta tested, but the current server issues NEVER showed up in beta. Beta was quite bugless and stable.
