ok so basically i should get a 2gb stick of ram, and the evga 8800gt or any pci grapchis card over 7000.
Aye. Just be sure its a > PCIe < card and not > PCI < (yeah there are a few still floating around)
And your Memory type is: DDR2-533/PC2-4200

basically, yes. I would suggest getting someone to do it for you though. As a beginner, I would hate for you to break something or think something is broke when it's an easy fix.
ok thanx guys, since my promblems have brought the community together so much, i will post if it all works out for me, but for now good night. man i love smilies.
Seems like we've got some pretty smart cookies here. I'm an oldschool uo player, my computer is way more then enough to handle it, but with darfall comin around I figure its time I got into a new game. I know some of the basics about computers but I am no pro.
Let me know what you guys think, I am one of the account not active #3 guys so I haven't been able to see how my computer performs with it, I'll probably just buy a new one if it sucks, shes getting a little old:
operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.080814-1233)

More Ram and maybe a better graphics card and you should be all set.

Thats about what I was figuring, of course if there's any uo guys around I would be what you'd call a speedhacking exploiting dirty gimp, so its gunna be rough going from one of the fastest guys in that game to average performance at best in DF. But considering the servers are what in Europe? I guess a steller computer will only go so far anyways. *shrugs*
theres a couple I'm looking at EVGA 512-P3-N975-AR e-GeForce 9800 GT 512MB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card EVGA 01G-P3-N945-LR GeForce 9400 GT 1GB DDR2 PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card Im assuming anything Geforce already should work since that's what I've got now?
Correct, So long as you have the PCIe slot for it.
I think the first one might be your best bet.

I am hoping to match graphics that include all the great realtime shadowing and any other nice effects that make the environment look unreal. My question is - will this current system spec be able to perform this smoothly? If not, will upgrading the GFX card to a 8800 (like mentioned in earlier replies) be my best bet?
i figured i'd post here as i was curious about my GFX card also Currently im running XP AM2 Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 5000+ (2.61ghz) 2gb DDR2 corsair 800 Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT 512mb PCIe

Aye, upping the vid card to an 8800 or better will help you a lot. Your ram is fine, unless you want to toss in another gig, but shouldnt be needed.

Unforunately i havent successfully obtained a copy yet. Will keep trying!!
Waiting for if/when there is a NA release.

a 1gb 4850 will run this game beautifully. but be sure to get one with an upgraded cooler.
I would stay away from Nvidia untill they fix their shoddy manufacturing issues, I have 3 Nvidia paperweights in my filing cabinet,...sitting alongside 3 ATI cards that still work
9800 has bad Bumps....bad bump material, and it is missing a layer in the manufacturing process, just like the 8800 series, unless you are going to watercool it or buy a better GFX cooler I would steer clear. when these things heat up too much many of them fail.
If you are stuck on Nvidia tho, I would get a 200 series, many of the probs have been solved that previous cards had.

Quick Google turned up the following:
The initial system requirements for Darkfall are as follows:
Operating System: Windows XP, Vista
Processor: 2.5GHz Pentium 4, or equivalent
RAM: 1GB for Windows XP, 2GB for Windows Vista
Graphics Card: 128MB PixelShader 2.0 support
Hard Drive Space: 12 GB Free Space Minimum

Yeh, im in Australia.
Not liking my chances either!

someone told me i should get the ASUS 9800GTX+ 738M PCIe/512MB/D-DVI
Anyone know if theres much different between this and the 8800? Much better or?
