Does AoC have the following
Nice graphics that can take advantage of a PC with a good 1 gig graphics card a quad core processor and 2 gigs of ram. I actually want a game that looks very good for a change.
Great PvE with immsive stories for quests, I dont want just "Kill these wolves becuase I say so" A real story behind quests, real good quests too wtih real goals other than just hunting crap...
Does it have optional pvp If there is one thing I hate is some jack ass ruining my day camping me because I am a lower level. This kinda thing really ticks me off.
A good amount of quests so I dont have to just GRIND levels without goals storylines or any motivations.
Quests that give gear/weapons/items that are useful as rewards.
A mature community that is welcoming and friendly.
A lack of a cash shop...I have officially given up on cash shop games.
Plz let me know if AoC has the following tnx
Comments
I am new in AoC but recently post Tortage and I think you will like as much as me. Your PC sounds similar to mine. It's ok, but not totally out there. You can still run high settings though, just not totally maxed out on every thing. But it'll truly be fanatstic still.
The Quests and PvE is the one thing I like the best in this game really good creative work from the FC devs here.
For PvP AoC is perfect for you. AoC have PvE servers where you have access to some zones with PvP if you want to PvP. This is the buty of having an instanced world, there are different rules in different areas. Like that as well.
Quest and contentwise this game is packed after a lot of initial bitching. Trust me you have to leave lots of quests behind.
Quests does not give too many good items always. I would say 80% of the time you get some semiuseless stuff. I think there is coming a patch to fix this though. (1.05)
I think AoC has a very good community. A lot of helpfull people.
Let me know if you pop by Wiccana server.
This almost seems like an ad for AoC, because you just touched on some of its strongest points. I don't see how anyone who's played it could even debate any of the above, aside from the community, which is of course, a matter of opinion. Other than that though, yeah, course it has all that.
Best graphics and art direction of any MMO I've played.
Best PvE, too, if you like lots of questing. More story than I can even stand to read. They seem to be trying to live up to Conan's literary roots.
Optional PvP, but only on the PvE servers (which is a bit misleading, but yeah, sounds like you'd want to stay away from the FFA PvP servers.)
Like I said, lots of questing. I've never had to just grind mobs.
The quest rewards are often useful, almost to the point of being ridiculous. Equipment upgrades are nearly constant.
Community - eh, better than WoW, of course
And no cash shop.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Ok a few more things.
Does the game have a free trial?
Does (when you buy the box) come with 30 days free?
Has the box retail price drop yet?
Subscription fee is 15 bucks right?
Do I have to know or have any prior knowledge of the conan universe to understand things in this game or is it a strong Stand alone game by itself? (I have no clue what so ever about Conan and before this game had not even herd the name but I am a very experienced mmorpg gamer for more than 8 years).
Are there capes in the game?
Do I have to buy the mounts with real life money of some sort of official site selling shop?
Which is the most populated PvE server?
Sounds to me like I may enjoy this game If I give it a shot. As a Casual college student mmorpg gamer I dont have much time to play games. I herd this games leveling can be done quite fast, Which for me would be just about normal or decent. Right now I am playing a F2P mmorpg named Requiem bloodymare..which is decent but the unbalanced issues with heavy cash shop users vs casual cash shop users really upsets me. So I am looking around for something else mature but without a cash shop and with a big world to explore and lots of qeusts to take part in. I think this game maybe what I am looking for. Im looking for something to wait until octover or so when Aion the tower of Eternity will come out. Think this game will be good for that.
More than likely once my 30 day premium *which I got today* from Requiem is done ill probably see about getting this game.
Does anyone have a guild in the most populated server I could join a place where people can show me the ropes?
No free trial, yet. People speculate that they'll work on that after the next patch, which will supposedly be adding lots of new equipment to the game or something, but who knows. It's probably about 2-3 months away.
Yeah, 30 days free, when you buy the game, $15/month thereafter.
Some people say the game can be bought really cheap, but I don't know where. Around $35 most places I've seen.
I don't know much of anything about Conan, and doesn't seem to be a problem.
They do have capes, but not until level 40+
Mounts are bought with in-game money at around lv.40+ also, but I hear that new players are given a free mount, as a sort of promotional thing. Probably depends on where you buy the game, I don't know.
I think the most populated PvE server is Set.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Lots of Sunny answers here I see.
Look you have 639 post on these boards--I don't I have to tell you that the very title of this thread is a magnet for "fanatics," so my suggestion to you is to read around a bit. Take look at the AoC boards at AoC.com (a real good way to measure the community's maturity level), both the US and Eur threads, check around read some threads not just on the first page--but go back a few pages. Check out other sites too.
do some google searches..like keywords: AoC exploits, AoC issues, AoC bugs, AoC's economy...etc.
Try to get a buddy pass (which isn't free unless you have the game) see the sticky thread.
But if you tried every other game on the market you'll probably play AoC anyways, just because the alternatives are exhausted.
Just don't take MMORPG.com posters too seriously, is all i can say.
All I did was answer his questions. I'm not a big fan of the game, it's not really my sort of MMO, but I think its one of the better MMOs out at the moment, anyhow.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
All I really want to play is an Oblivion like game with a lot of quests like Oblivion had. In a big world about the size of Oblivion or bigger. A game where I dont have to spend 200 hours to grind 1 level. And a game that can actually take advantage of the computer I got for gaming which most mmorpgs Don't even come close (Hell most look better on really low settings than on very high).
Also a game without an item mall. I think AoC sounds like Something I may enjoy. The quests from what Iv seen have voice work to them as well right?
Sounds like the game for you even more so after your elboration here. The first kill you do in AoC puts you to level 2 from 1. You won't be grind through levels really till a small part from around 75-80.
Here are some facts:
Abilities: 19
Affixes: 66
Bestiary (collated so far): 1756
Classes: 12
Combos: 250
Feats: 703
Items: Over 42'000 thousand
Mounts: 26
Quests: 1252 Game launched with just over 800. That is quite a chuck they added in since!
Recipes: 809
Spells: 574
Zones (including instances): 101
You will enjoy the quests in this game I think. Many are voice over, started of with the important Destiny ones and then they branched out a bit. A large portion are not, but more than most games.
Game looks spectacular.
The quests do have some solid stories behind them but after you're done reading the text the actual action is the same, go kill x [mob], go collect x [item]. The orange arrow in your map that always points you the way to your quest goal makes it a bit too easy.
On the PvP servers not a lot of options for avoiding pvp if you leave town. On the PvE servers not a lot of options for pvp unless you join a mini-game. iirc there is no dueling option.
There is enough quests for one run-through of the game. Make an alt and you'll be doing a LOT of repeat quests.
Quests do give items that are useful... sometimes. sometimes a quest reward will be inappropriate to your class. Kind of annoying after you bust your hump for someone and they give you something you cant use. Sometimes you get a choice of 3 items to pick from, and none of the 3 are usable by your class.
As far as the maturity goes, that's kind of in the eye of the beholder. Though in my opinion, due to the simplicity and relative uselessness of the crafting system as well as missing/broken pvp and endgame elements and other lacking or missing rp elements the game has no real community in a traditional MMO sense. However it seems that community in a traditional sense in MMOs is not really featured in modern MMO's anyway so take it for what its worth. PvP servers of course will have more of the kind of player who enjoys annoying other people than the PvE servers.
There is no cash shop. However the in-game economy is nothing to write home about either.
Your computer will probably be ok but you may have to make some adjustments. I played at launch and even though many people had problems I had almost zero OTHER THAN the lag spikes. I have heard they are fixed. If thats the case then you should be fine.
K I got the game at a corner game store about a mile away. only 19,99. Am installing it atm. will prob take a while to install
Whatever you do make sure you roll on Tyranny--that is the highest population server there is.

Calintz specifically asked for an optional PvP server and you with your small minded antics direct him to a full PvP server, are you like 5 yrs old or what?
I feel sorry for Eve Online if you have started playing it.
Grow up
Gaming since 1985 and still going strong.
