Smoothest Launch

Everquest 2 has to be the smoothest launch mmorpg I have ever played in my entire days of mmorpg playing.

I installed, patched, and resgistered with absolutley no lag or hang ups.

The servers (since I logged in yesterday around 1 pm CST) hasn't crashed yet.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

    Smooth except for shipping lag. I wish they could just let people download the game early or in stages and then ship the extra stuff in the mail. Then everyone could have a fair shot at getting in the game when it releases instead of making people wait a week for shipping.::::38::

    Like Steam is doing for Half Life 2, very good idea. It gives everyone the opprotunity to play the game the second it goes live.

    I'm sure that they want to slow down the process of everyone getting in the game so their servers don't crash. It seems to me like an open beta that we have to pay for.

    Grrr... I still wouldn't know yet. Although I am finally getting ready to drive to the nearest city (50 miles) to pick up my preorder. How long does the patch take on 11.0Mbps cable?

    About 15-20 mins, went grabbed a soda and ate a snack, came back and it was done. I have left once to read up on what everyone else is thinking of the game, so far its really good! Im having alot of fun, and I hear it gets funner, go devs for making a great game.

    Tomorrow at around 5ish I should be entering eq2 ;p.... and not leaving until midnight.. and then I will be abck at like 7 am.. ;p... then till llike 4 or 5.. have to let my brother paly or he might kill me :(

    I said it a while ago when all mentioned lag and i said they already have back up.

    The major place of lag was the huge zones antontica and commons which they tried not to instance.

    EQ2 devs worked hard to ensure the launch is smooth and had IMHO very good back up plans .

    That's strange, I just installed my copy and all i get is a "preparing files" message. It never does anything else. I let it sit for 30 minutes before I ctrl,alt,deleted out. image

    Yeah, so far now lag here except for my Gamestop got it a day later then most of the people in Desolation. Patch is going real fast too.

    I couldn't tell you how smooth the game is... with the whole SOE hasn't shipped my DVD version yet...  I don't mind if it ships today and won't be here til friday or monday but cmon its not even being shipped yet this is complete crap.  They said they had problems with the Collectors edition with shipping... i didn't buy that... i bought the normal dvd version and i have yet to see my message "order is being fulfilled" change into a tracking number... i can't believe SOE sucks this much

    jinxed us Enigma hehe servers crashed today and I have found many unpleasant things, but all in all still very excited to be in and Guild up and going.  8-)  image

    You'd probly understand if everyone elses DVD versions were shipped except yours.  Wednesday and the order is not even in the hands of UPS yet.  I talked to the SOE store head and she said they messed up my order

    Its not completely smooth.  50% of the time I zoned I crashed.  The problem wasn't just me, I had some friends on the phone, they were having the same problem.  I experienced 2 zone crashes as well "The zone you are trying to log into is not currently available". 

    But overall it has been better than any other game.  Honestly I wasn't expecting to be able to play until this weekend, I'm so glad I was wrong....crosses fingers and knocks on wood.

    The launch did seem to go very smooth. Aside from my firewall being cranky, I had no troubles at all!
    Way to go to SOE for getting it right this time! ::::02::

    Smoothest for me so far, and I have been in quite a few launches. Seems like SOE finally got it right. I have to give them their props...Well done SOE. I didn't think you had it  in you.

    As for the game. Having a blast, except for now...I am at work!image

    But I got the next 4 days off...woohoo!image

    the noob areas are just as involving as the high end up areas.

    Well, allmost a smooth launch, all servers are down and can not log in :(

    Currently there is no scheduled downtime for EverQuest II


    All servers are up except:

    you should be real happy rumors flying around that complete wipe of all servers happened, i dont beleave it though (allthough, i did get to login for a second and my character was NOT there)

    When a server goes down, your characters on that server disappear from your list....So no, there wasn't a wipe.

    I wouldnt be so confident on the 'smooth' launch. In fact the 'smooth' launched was cooked by Sony by not delivering all the software at the same time.. so the strat of eq2 was a paradise with few players.

    Now that the players start getting into the game is when the fuss is strating to happen. I received my eq2 Dvds today.. installed, patch ok 20 minutes or so, went to noob areas, all fine.. then when i left the noob area.. all hell broke loose. You start to lag as hell in the city ( btw the city is not like you see in the movies.. its zone based ). Really bad lag.. a lil longer the bloody server goes Poof and hasnt gonne online until now.. ( almost 3hrs down). I log into another server, make a new char... all goes well.. im a bout to leave for the mainland then poof... all servers down, eq2 acc server down etc..

    Im worried ...
