A game based in ganking where some can play before others...

gurthgorgurthgor Member Posts: 279

What is the point of joining a server full of ppl that already will have much higher lvl than me and where everybody will be able to gank me. This game is pvp ffa, there are already ppl that have experience with the beta, then preorders and also ppl invited in first wave of invites. So what about the rest, those will join to be ganked whenever servers open for all. Unless the open soon the servers for all wont have any point playing the game, unless a new server but in that case i wouldnt be able to play with my guild.

Also i saw this video that shocked me about the HORRIBLE lag issues, so basically ppl that started to play first day and with good lag will own others without having a chance, mmm where is the fun in that for the person killed and the killer?

Blade with whom i have lived, blade with whom I now die. Serve right and justice one last time. Seek one last heart of evil. Still one last life of pain. Cut well old friend. Then farewell!

thoses were sync issues and are gone now but if you are good at fps games you wont be that much at a disadvantage (you can kill people even if they have higher skills and better armor if you are really good)

In these games there's most likely always going to be people who have a better advantage than you. It comes with the territory, either adapt and do your best to counter it, or get lots of friends. Or don't play it *shrug*

Then why EVE online is doing fine and many new players are coming in? Same situation.

Well lets say I get in game and I choose sword skills. I max my sword skill up to 100. Weeks later you get in game. While I am using my sword skill to keep it up to 100 you are training it to get to 100. Before long you will have a sword skill of 100 and will have to use the skill to keep it up at 100. That is the rule of deminishing skill.

I think that the point will be that you will be able to play a game with your guild, which you happened to conveniently forget in your first sentence.  If you are in a guild, you should go out in groups with your guild.  The full-loot pvp aspect of this game is going to generate a community of play, unlike many of the other mmos where people solo their way to top level via quests and never learn team strategy and mechanics.

Sounds like you're in the wrong mindset for this game. Sure, you can pvp and gank all you want in this game, but thats not what it's about. Right now it's a gank-fest because people have been stuck with care-bear MMO's for the last 9 years and they need to get the ganking out of their system. The thing is, the game isn't about how many people you can gank, it's really about exploring and enjoying yourself with friend (sounds hella corny huh). If you remember back to UO pre-trammel (if you played back then), NO ONE really have the midset of "this is a race, any moment I waste not working on skills is just another notch I fall behind everyone." It was more about enjoying yourself and developing your character how you wanted. The reason why this game is not a race is because it is not a gear-dependent game. Sure, people can spend hours getting nice-ass gear from hard-ass monsters, but believe me, it's not going to be such a clear-cut victory for them if they are slightly outnumbered, or in the midst of a large scale battle. And once they die, whoops, there goes all their nice-ass armor and weapons, and you're back on par. Even when it comes to being behind on skills, if you are like 20 skill pts behidn someone it's definitely not going to be such a 1-sided battle. You basically have to convince yourself that in this game you just need to enjoy yourself, enjoy it with friends, and know that you always have a shot at taking someone down, no matter how geared or macro'd out they are.

First this is not just a fps game, also you have stats, and second there will be good players that will have good skills too. Anyway i have a big disadvantage without no reason.

You can make up in your mind what you want but this game is full of gankers, i saw the videos, and i knew before to see them. I played AoC pvp servers and there is lot of gank, more if you can loot others. I dont need to convince about anything, just see what is in game. I didnt mention 20 skills points and dont know if that is much or not, just that if they make the real release for everybody just a week later you will join to be ganked unless you play lot of hours, which i am not going to do.

Did i mention i didnt play the game? ;) If skills cap at 100 then its the same, facing someone that mastered a combat skill and me having 1 lvl will make me easy to gank.

Yes, this game is a gank-fest right now, like I said. But it'll wear off, people are just getting their shits and giggles out since ffa pvp full-loot has been gone for so many years from mainstream. People will realize that being grey/red is actually somewhat a pain in the ass if they dont have a large guild safe-haven. Dont get me wrong, if you're getting ganked because you are grey/red, then thats your own fault, thats never gonna stop.

The disadvantage would be you are likely to be less skilled at playing the game, rather than less skilled in game skills.  And like others said, if you are good enough it won't matter much with their skills and gear, however... you are most likely not going to go into the game being a pro.

No. A skill is only going to rise to it's cap. After that you maintain it. I could train other skills but that will reduce the time I have to maintain the skills I already have.

Also once a player reaches a certain cap, I think it's like 5 skills at 100. Ten skills at 50 rank or any combination then the time it takes to increase a skill takes longer. This means a newb  skilling up will be faster than a vet until the newb reaches that total cap for all skills learned.

Yes PVP wil lfail as always does,it is NOT an environment to invite FRIENDLY people into, that fact you may in a blue moon join with your guild mates, those ARE THE ONLY people you wil lget along with in the game, the other thousands are your enemies, lame concept for a game.

The other people that try to defend it are living in a dream world.First of all EVE is NOTHING the same,at all IMO EVE is not even a good game so it matters not.For the others stating you can go out with your guild mates????says who?you mean the ones that are online are sitting there waiting for you to logon?BS,soon they get even 2-3 they will be out looking to PVP,then you logon you could go find them, whatever, even so what is the purpose of playing the game??to join a few mates in PVP?you are MUCH better off playing a REAL FPS game that allows you to login at any time and get to some fragging.Even better is that a REAL PVP game everyone is equal ,aside from lag of course, but that is your choice of server to join. You get ZERO choice of server in this game lmao...good luck on a totally inept system of PVP.

COD/QUAKE/UT that is where REAL PVP players go to play REAL PVP.If you are playing an MMO to gain some friends and work WITH others ,then you should not be playing a PVP ,and SHOULD be playing a PVE MMORPG.PVE=EVERYONE works together and gets along, that is a MUCH better scenario for gamers. You wil lstill get the EGO factor in PVE but only about a 5%,PVP is 99.9% EGOS,childish mannersim, most mature stay away from that crap.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Not only that, he will have high skill in archery and magic and will simply own you.

But they will never accept it. They will keep saying that you have the chance to kill them "if you are really good" because they need new players to gank.

There will be Clans that excell. They will have players that like crafting. That like building the towns structure. That like going on treasure hunting raids. There will be those who like to hang out and defend a town. There will be those that like to destroy towns. The more territory a clan takes the thinner they get. The harder to hold it. There is satisfaction in defending what you built. There is satisfaction in taking back what was taken. There is reward with team work.

If all you want a FPS then I suggest you go play one. Darkfall is more for those who like FPS action but also like their boundaries widened and the ability to build Kingdoms and go on conquests.

Yeah cry me a river, as if you lived underground for the last 8 years and didn't know what was coming. Gooble it down fanboi and say thanks to Av and don't forget to pay 15 dollars/ month for a broken neanderthalian FPS.
