One thing they shoud have done

momodigmomodig Member UncommonPosts: 555

22nd or 23rd they sold pre-orders... instead of selling anything they should have opened the servers up 1-3 days free for every... see how much stress the servers could take... on the 25th they should have done pre-orders.... UNLESS this is a whole ripoff sceem? because to me it doesn't look like AV got any money till the 25 or 26?  so what was the big the deal with preorders so early when they didn't charge anyone correctly

Again, unless this was a sceam, and they know theirproduct was not good, would be the only reason they did this , to make fast cash... and bail if they had too... but if they would have had 1-3 day stress test they would have know exactly how much their server can handle...  at this point they probably don't even know the max a server can handle and they're charging people already for a service they can't provide... it's like going to the dentist for a cleanup but the dentist doesn't have the tools and charges you anyway

my two cents

if it's a scam .... then may it be a big one ... so from now on ppl's get a little more cautious of what they pre-order

Sempera Vinci & Carpe Diem all in one !!!

A lot of people said they needed to stress test the game before release. This problem was easily seen. Just a lot of people also refused to see it, including AV.

Funny, because we (the Beta players) told them to delay or at least have an open stress-test prior to launching. Beta's couple of thousand players have completely fucked the servers over before, it was obvious to every one of us that they couldn't handle release adequately. Not even this limited (half of pre-order customers, give or take) release.

26/02/2009 @11pm - "During the preorder of Darkfall, your credit card transacton failed."

Funny, because the beta testers that posted here have said just the opposite of what your claiming. I cant count the number of "This game runs so smooth" statements and no mention of crashing servers.

Besides, no game company listens to every suggestion from their beta testers.

And again, all this banter of what they should of done, I really dont care. In the long run it really doesnt matter. I know plenty of games had horrible launches and are now solid and vice versa.

Are you READING the posts, or just Signus the community staff member's?

Go on, go look at the amount of complaints about synch issues, CTDs, crashes on character creations, time outs, inactive accounts, infinite queue times, lag issues, bugged characters resulting in deletion. You don't have a fucking leg to stand on, and you know it. In BETA, the game was smooth. In RELEASE, the game is not for a very large portion of the currently miniscule playerbase.

Correct, they don't! But AV listened to a lot of ours, regarding gameplay changes and fixes to exploits. What they didn't listen to was any kind of "business advice", presumably because they're gagging so hard for cash that they couldn't delay another 2-3 days.

It may be the case that it's useless to speculate and comment on where they went wrong with launch, but it's NOT useless to speculate on how that failing can be used to better strategize for the future. Open your eyes, Jesus.

AOC had the same type of problems, Just hope Darkfall does'nt flop like AOC. But anyway give it a few days and it should be up and running, well for an hour or two until the servers crash. All of these game's are the same from the start and it takes weeks even months to iron out the problems.

I can sum this up for you real easy.

    Im not defending this game.

But seeing all this useless "what they should of done" crap is annoying.
The beta tester crew writing a business plan for aventurine...yeah count me out.

Ill wait and see what happens. If the game becomes stable enough and looks fun, maybe Ill give it a try.

So what would be your alternative? To shut up and take it up the ass in silence? The company is obviously having problems. And obviously people told them about those problems. But they either ignored that or couldn't fix it.

No product or service should be sold if its NOT what it was supposed to be. They failed to see that their product is not ready or they were looking through pink shades and thought that everything is fine.

Most people aren't apathetic, they actually try to speak up when they buy a bad product. Do you not return a faulty product or complain to a store manager if you bought sour milk?

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Me too, but apparently they don't want the rest of my money.  It's not a scam, just poor customer service.  I think people are going a little overboard with the "scam" bit.  They couldn't possibly keep the game running if they scammed people at launch and the game failed.

They DO have to realize that once you start taking people's money....it's not "beta" anymore...the same rules don't apply....people pay for something, and they expect you to deliver (*cough* preorders *cough*)

You can promise people the world and not follow through, until you start charging people money.  I would have waited patiently for weeks to play if I hadn't have gotten my pre-orders in....but now that they charged me for it....they owe me what I paid for.

If it is a scam it is the most ill conceived one. Picture this.

Adventurine Employee #1: Our game is crap, it's never going to work we need to just get as much money as we can and run

Adventurine Employee #2: I know, we will sell a pre order, limit the number of sales to a few thousand, let everybody in, watch everything crash and cripple our future sales.

Adventurine Employee #1: that's an awesome idea we are going to be rich.

Think about it your fools. If they were scamming they would of sold as many copies as they could to maximise their cash flow before people had a chance to evaluate the product . The fact that they limited sales says to me they believe in their product but don't have the capacity, capital or support model to launch with a dozen clusters supporting 300,000+ players. Yes they should of stress tested more, yes their QA needs a kick in the pants but I highly doubt this is a scam. For this game to be a success they need to increase their communicatin admit they should of done more open style beta testing, give all pre orders an extra 30days free game time while they get their platform stable and open a second server so all the people who come in when they start selling copies again can start on a fresh server not exposed to the dysync exploits.

I hope you're not trying to compare AoC's launch with Darkfall's... That would be a mistake.

People are born suckers....They will fall for alot of things....MMOs have plenty of history that show you should wait yet the second a new game says "Preorder" there are always people in line 2 seconds later with credit card in hand.......The computer/console game industry is jsut one of "I got to have it now" mentality and it would not matter if Enron was the game maker.......Plus they use the old "were only letting so many in so you better order fast" method that makes alot of people panic.......No matter how many failures and how rinky dink the company appears there will always be people waiting to pay for it.
