DF armor and weapons

Since I havnt been able to order the game because they are taking forever, I have some questions.
In DF, there is different armor and they each have stats on them, correct? How do you get better armor and weapons?? Someone explain this.

Their are goblins and ranked goblins. Harder mobs better gear. But in DF the increase is in hundreths of a point increases.
The best answer though to get the best gear is to craft it or find a crafter because they will make the best gear.
i found some magical armor and a bow in a locked treasure chest. the bow gave me + 3 dexterity when i equipped it, and the plate chest was called like Plate Chest of Bludgeoning Protection or something... basically it had a lot of extra bludgeoning protection.
So ya there's going to be normal armor, then magical stuff. There's enchanting as a skill in game, i'm sure they add magical bonuses to armor.
Weapons have delay and max damage as their ratings, then they also have weaponskill as a number. crap weapons are lvl 0 skill weapons, and it goes up in incriments of 10. Dif weapons have ranges/speeds and some work better against certain armor types.
All I hear is talking about goblins. Are there any different types of mobs besides these dreadful goblins?!

there's goblins, then mobs a little harder then goblins (zombies, orcs, etc..) then stuff definitely not soloable as a newb, then ridiculous stuff.... that's the extent of mob difficulty i've seen :P Giant roaming dragons, huge roaming bird as big as a dragon, giant roaming eyeballs, ghosts, the infamous Black Knights... there's tons of stuff.
