I just took a look at their site. Specifically the "feature" section if it. I'll just quote some interesting features:
"Explore five continents, countless small islands, trackless underwater depths, and a sprawling underworld. Hundreds of dungeons and adventure areas await."
"Experience a world brought to life by real-world physics and dynamic lighting and shadows. Watch trees and grass sway in the wind as sunlight peeks through passing clouds. Observe the movements of Agon's twin moons, which are part of a dynamic planetary system with smooth day/night cycles. Sail your ship through rough seas, then become hampered by fog as the waters calm. Struggle as your battlefield-bound army marches into a severe storm. In Darkfall, the weather is more than just window dressing."
"Uncover the mysteries of an ancient civilization, which left more than just ruins for later generations to discover. Untold riches and incredible power is the prize, as you join the race to claim an age-old inheritance"
" In Darkfall, all items in the world can be made by the players."
" Darkfall's crafting system is intuitive, non-repetitive, challenging, useful, fun - and profitable. Using Darkfall's virtually limitless item creator system, you could invent and be the first to use a weapon as awesome as the Flamefury Raudstaal Battleaxe of Bloodshed, or just make a simple saddle for your horse."
"We give you a world full of options, choices, and possibilities, and the ability to shape and define your game environment. Politics, diplomacy, trade agreements, and even player defined legal systems, are all supported by the game."
Now I picked these features from the list because I thought they looked the most interesting and if they are all in, the game must be nothing short of amazing. However, I really have my doubts that they managed to implement all of those features in release. If not, do you think they will ever be added at a later stage? I remember Vanguard was packed with interesting features, but they cut half of them before the release, and most of them were never spoken of again.

Almost all of that is true. Sadly, it seems most of the story/PvE elements are only in in a shallow form. Also, from what I hear, the crafting is fairly repetative, but you CAN craft anything. All the rest is good though.
PS - I don't think there is an item creator, I think there are just recipes, but I'm not a crafter, so I don't know.
But yes, you can manage diplomacy, set laws for your clan city, all of its in.
Darkfall Travelogues!
remember this is only the launch, just wait until they start patching in some gameplay changing patches... this game can be the greatest ever.
Yeah. Let's just hope it doesn't end up like Vanguard. I'm not saying Vanguard is bad, I'm just saying it's not what it could have been.

Do yourself a favor and try to find some unbiased reviews (Paragus is a good example). I could name a few fanbots who you should not listen to but I won't. One already posted in this thread.
All I'm gonna say is that I bought this game with very high expectations, and when you do that you usually get disappointed.
But with Darkfall I was surprised because the real game is even better than anything I could have expected.
Most of that is in, but it's obvious they use "colorful" language to dress it up a bit. Like all descriptions of games/movies/books/etc do.
There is no weather (at least there wasn't any in beta), but that's supposed to be coming very soon. There's already a "forecast" map in the game.
But I would say, if THOSE are the key-features for you.. then maybe you should try a game like Vanguard, as it seems to cater more to those features than Darkfall does. Darkfall's strengths are more in the PvP, Exploration, and Clan areas.
