Darkfall: Guild Functionality

Paragus1Paragus1 Member UncommonPosts: 1,741

Being I am in the same boat as many of you waiting for the sales to reopen, I decided to take some time to try to give some people an insight into the guild functionality of Darkfall.  I just put up a new entry that gives an in-depth look at the guild interface.

Hopefully this thread won't drown in here.

You can find it HERE.

Enjoy!

Tell me about it!  It has been about 9 days for me and counting.  Over half of my guild is in there and I get to listen to it in vent.

Wow, you know despite trolling this game fairly heavily I am impressed with many of its features that I didn't know about before. Good write up Paragus.

  • Paragus1Paragus1 Member UncommonPosts: 1,741

Yea, my guild has been telling me a lot about some of the stuff they are seeing.   I forogt to mention this in the article, but apparently you can see where your guildmates are on the world map, even if you are not grouped with them.

Is there a list anywhere of the ranking hierarchy?

I think it'd also be cool if we could change the name of the ranks.

Not sure, I will try to look into this.

Thanks a lot Paragus, once again a very nice review.

I have to say I am impressed. KOS, guild bank with detailed player contribution, diplomacy, ingame guild and officers forums,...

Compared to what we have in most of the other mmorpgs this is totaly awesome. They have really thought the guild functionality out.

If you look at how multi-million $ mmos like AoC have a crappy guild functionality; my hats off to Aventurine.

Haha and you are the guildleader. I`m sorry, but that`s a bit funny.

Well atleast you have ventrillo while you wait, all I have is your secondhand review.

LOL, ya it blows man.   I'm actually the co-leader though, my best friend is the other leader and he is able to play.  I think if I play one more game of CoD 5 I am going to kill myself.  Apparently Brannoc said there will be at least 12 hours of notice before they open up the sales.   It would have been nice to know that about 6-7 days ago.

My guys tell me that they had to declare war yesterday on another guild.  This prompted a message to come up on all of their screens with wardrums playing.   While in war, you can attack any member of the enemy guild in a city without interference from guard towers.

They had to declare war? I have seen this "war" message on some of the videos, but I couldn`t figure out what it was.

Does the whole clan declare war if one member attacks a member from a different clan?

04:05 in this video and you`ll see it.

Well I should clarify.    They did not HAVE to declare war, but they chose to because of an incident.  Being in a state of war with another guold activiates a lot of things in the guild interfaces and removes restrictions for killing the members of the enemy guild.

The Darkfall devs got this completly right. Looks like they know what they are doing in some areas and not so much in others, which is understandable given this is their first game ever.

    Will play: Darkfall: Unholy Wars
    Past games:

Ya.  I never thought I'd find a guild Interface I liked more than EQ2.   I can't wait to get into the game and dig around in it some more.   I'm still looking into whether or not you can change the names of the ranks.

Thanks   Normally I wouldn't write an article just on this one feature, but I had not seen it mentioned anywhere in any of the reviews or previews (including mine) and thought it was definitely worth mentioning given how I haven't seen anything quite like it.

The impression my guild is giving me is that you can't alter the permissions for certain ranks, so I am going to have to say at this point it is looking like you may not be able to rename them.  If I find out this isn't the case I'll let you know.

What restrictions?  Or are you talking about the rogue system.   Nice write up by the way.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

By restrictions I am referring to rogue status, alignment penalty, and guard tower intervention.

If a human guild declare war against another human guild, what color would the enemy have ingame. Are the enemies red, blue or orange?
