    I have to agree..

If crafting is your thing in mmorpg's, this one you may like alot.

It might interest you to know they're working on an advanced experimentation system. That should add a new dimension to an already great crafting system.

Yes they are working on that.

Read the HoC's Its in there.

Also the older question of the week has some comfirms on it.

Its all still verry hush hush tho, not mutch info on it other then "we are working on a crafting expriment system"

Wow holy crap great news then. Everygame other then SWG was pure shit for crafting but this game may finally bring back that feeling of having a bussiness. One thing that i wish this game would put in is SWG trading system. Putting down a Joe's Ammo and weapons store would be awsome and add a more realistic feel to the game . Considering 95% of the games gear is from crafting, FE putting a TON of resources into crafting/trading system is a damn good move imo.

Keep it up FE!!! Your doing a much better job then AV has thats for sure.

I would hardly call Vanguards crafting system simplistic.

Very true... In fact, that was one of the saving points that helped it stay afloat until it got sold.

Vanguard probably has the best and deepest crafting in the MMO world. Its just a shame the rest of the game lagged behind so badly early.

Horizons was the best crafting game around and still probably is as far as crafting being worth wile,  Everyone bought your stuff because they didn't get better drops or quest items, so it made it where a crafter was needed and could sell their wares.  Most all MMO's have crafting, but who cares, because most the time you get better quest rewards or get gear in BG's or arenas.  Wasn't like that at all in Horizons; and so crafting was rewarding and fun.

Now, not saying that Horizons had the best crafting as far as the process, i think EQII & others were more involved and Horizons seemed a bit easy to do, but non of the other MMO's needed the crafter more than the people who played on Horizons. Even in EQII i could get by with quest items or drops and not worry about buying what people made. Though there is always the exception to the rule, like those who crafted bags, master spells, trunks etc they where in demand from crafters; just seemed like armor and weapons where not. But in horizons you looked for your next weapon or armor from the crafters. It was a great game to play if u loved to craft .. or just wanted to play a dragon.

I never tried Horizons, but I can understand where you are coming from. Star Wars Galaxies to me had the best crafting system plus a housing system and NPC's to sell your items personally (I remember the NPC's barking oout, Get your Lastest T21 Krayt Rifle here). What other game out there does that now.

Your personal store in SWG was simply fantastic and crafting just rocked!

Crafters in Pre-Cu SWG were the most unique, profitable, famous in the game and could RP up a storm! Alot of the big guilds wanted crafters, if you had the best crafter on the server, your guild kicked ass.

    Also..

I remember certain Crafters naming their armor, weapons and made their popularity in game very special and legendary!

Haha yea man god I miss SWG pre-cu, by far the best experience i had ever had in a MMO. I used to have a company made up of about 7 crafters and had a huge mall of weapons//armor//ship parts//tailored items//mounts//ships, everything a player would need :). We were pretty successful. Made over 2billion creds a week. Oh and damn i remember when mounts came out for the first time I made a SHIT load of money on my beastmaster lolz. So tired of the so called good crafting in games now. They simply cant touch what SWG had going imo.

I agree that VG has the best crafting system and housing system in any mmorpg to date ,including SWG. It does not have the personel vendor but it has everything else. Two years later the rest of the game has caught up and it is now the best PVE game out there and has the biggest world of any mmorpg out at the moment ,including DorkFall.

That's how Istaria Chronicles of the Gift crafting systems works, which is one of the best crafting system in MMO's, one Vanguard borrowed and added its own twists from, including housing! Istaria housing better though as you can customize your design more.

I Just hope you can have a business location and not a central hub like a auction house in wow. I have been looking for a game with good crafting since SWG myself. Lets hope this is the game and the rest of it don't suck which would make a good crafting system pointless if nobody plays it.

    WOW

    that looks really good.

its in closed beta right now I think

played:WoW and Eve off and on 5 years
Tried:CoH/V, PoTBS, War, TR, STO, FE
    TOR is likely to rock

I love crafting and gathering, specially the way they are doing it in FE, everything i hear about this game makes me want it even more *drools*

I do hope i can set up a stall in some warehouse on the outskirts...screw putting points into combat abilities :3

The main problem facing Vanguard is the back burner support it's being given by SOE. The game is on life support. I find it hard to justify spending my time in a game which has no future plans. Sure, little changes here and there a few times a year. However, you just get that "this game has been left to the wolves" feeling. I love the game, but I want a certain future before I put time into it. The fact they will also be adding their "viritual goods for real cash' system into the game ---- I think it's truly on it's way down the crapper.

Well, you definitely haven't played Ryzom. That game has the best crafting system hands down. Still, up to today.

while SWG was a decent system it was not the best.  What really saved it was the fact that housing was so impressive and kept up the demand (that and PvP + item decay)  I hope Fallen Earth can utilise at least some of those aspects.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

I'd agree with both of these...

However, I'd toss Ultima Online in there... because I was a crafter that ran a vendor from 1997-2002... and even when I quit I was still having issues keeping my vendor stocked.

The one game I never see mentioned much in crafting threads is Earth and Beyond.

While the basic crafting concept might have been simple there was something in EnB that I really loved.

If you found an item you could tear it apart to learn how to make it.  You didn't just craft X items then talk to a guy and *poof* know how to make a bunch of things.

You also had a chance to fail when you tore something apart and could destory it.  So a very rare item there was a risk.. do I use it.. or try to learn how to make it and perhaps lose it.

I don't remember if this next part involved having more than one of that item.. but there was the ability to tear an item down to its most basic components.. learning how to make every bit of it.

I just thought this was a great twist on learning recipes.

The one thing I really miss from UO when I play EQ2 was the fact I could smelt items .. and get some resources back.
