With halo2 passing $125M, that will be more than EQ2 + wow and halo will still beat both rpg. So, what kinda game do most people actually prefeer?!
edit: no bold in topic titles, rats, noticed the news flash was $125M and not 125M units sold, for a bit i thought halo2 was going to rival lineage 1&2, well, nearly 3 M sold it's first day, it may just pass Lineage anyway.

Yea, but are people goin to play Halo 2 every day for the next five years like they will with EQ2 and WOW?

You're figures are a little off, 125million units is not possible in one day, it's $125 mill in sales or 2.4 million units. You shouldn't jump the gun like that. Oh, and having proof helps: http://www.dailygame.net/news/archives/003420.php

Lol 125 million units sold.  Hahahahaha.  That's like half the US population.

EDIT: Bah, you edited your post. :P

And if you want to brag about how offline games are doing better than MMOs, use GTA:SA; who sold 4.5million copies in it's first week(granted the week isn't over yet for Halo 2, but it won't pass GTA regardless).

well, with all the EQ2 fanatics going crazy about their game geting to retail 1 or 3 days late, their 100k #s are piddling compared to over 2,400,000 unit first day (US & canada) Halo2 sales... worldwide #s (profits, profits, profits.)
Halo (xbox) being a first person shooter (fps) and showing this kind of customer demand does not show well for the rpg genre that has been stagnant for the last two years, with SOOOO many gamers pleading for something new and entertaining, and titles just redoing the same tried & true, with mayby one new feature. This does not justify the $1000 expense to upgrade personal computers to meet enjoyable play minimums in today's rpg. Makes those $150 consoles all the more attractive. If EQ2's monsters had Halo2's AI, mayby it also would have the +1M sales first day too!
Has EQ2 addressed nearly every complaint EQ1 had, no way! SOE basically gave up in correcting the previous Verant creation (most of those guys are at Sigil now anyway,) and set out on a swgish version of EQlite and market is as the next great thing, EQ2. Halo2 is not a "chore" to play, unlike the grind in SOE's mid game, EQ2 is a total contrast is Bungie's approach 'let them play as they want to play.'
How many after playing multiplayer Halo2 will go back to halo1, this comparison is not valid in EQ2 vs EQ1, in fact many will stick with EQ1 because 2 does not provide what they are looking for, especially for an extra $12 per month.
Halo2 leaves you looking forward to the next sequil, instead of dreading it ala EQ franchise. Especially if it adds co-op multi play. Which game Halo2 or EQ2 is more deserving of 10s from it's customer base? The answer is obvious after you play both...

Oh ya, i forgot, Halo 2 is soooo original. What does Halo 2 do that hasnt been done before? Nothing. Oh and by the way, Halo was planned to a PC game way before Xbox even existed.

This game is amazingly fun and i hate FPS games with a passion. As for GTA and other games i've never for as long as  i lived seen a line up of around  200 people wait for a game..causing EB and other local stores to have a midnight opening.

I am going to have to disagree with you there. In fact, I think it just the opposite. If Halo 2 was on the computer, it's sales would have doubled. Too many people are against console gaming.

Well i have to disagree with that. I think it would have still sold well, but not as much as on xbox since the FPS on the PC has been around for a long time, and there are much better FPSs than Halo. Battlefield 1942, UT2K4, Half-life 1 & 2, counter-strike, Quake, Doom 3... the list goes on and on.

Well if this game is availible for XBox, then I might not be interested in the whole console thing.

I'm just a heavy computer addict.

Ohh because everyone knows that review scores = a good game, Lol. IGN gives everything a good score, and PC Gamer (emphasis on the >>>PC<<<) giving a game designed for PC a better score than a conversion is no big surprise.

BF1942 sucked, Halo was average therefore Halo is better.

LOL ok, if IGN gives everything a high score, why is Halo only an 8.2? And what is the difference about Halo being a port? They didnt say anything about it being a port as a negative, they commented solely on gameplay. BF1942 was original, fun and strategic (multiplay of course, single player wasnt the focal point).. Halo was a standard FPS, it is fun, but its just an average game.

Halo has, by far, the best single player game and story line. Both of them, one and two.

Half-Life is... average. How many times has a labratory accident led to a game series (or other entertainment source)?

Battlefield? What a terrible game. I played 1942 for two weeks. During that time, I had fun. Then, it started to get old, repetitive, and generally crappy.

Halo was the first FPS, console or computer, in which I payed attention to the story line.

I really hope you just mean in terms of FPSs, becuase i would have to hate to bring up Baldurs gate, planescape torment, fallout... and if you mean in terms of FPSs, I still wouldnt agree, because there are tons of FPSs that have better gameplay. Halo has a decent story, but Half-life 2 is ground breaking, and since it releases next week, ill soon be able to back up that argument.

STOP! Halo is a FPS. Here is a test for you. Name what kind of game WoW and EQ2 are?

Now name what kind of gamesite MMORPG.com is made for?

So, what kinda game do most people actually prefeer?!

Last, Halo 2 is a console game. Not a PC game.

Even more last, guess what? Many gamers play ALL TYPES OF Games. Very few gamers play ONLY Halo 2 and nothing else. Or only consoles and nothing else. Catch up with the times. Stay in school, get the diploma, get the career job, and you to will one day be able to afford a PC and a console. Buy Halo 2 and EQ2, WoW, and hundreds of other games. imageimage

MMORPG rely on the monthly fees more.

A mmorpg that has retained 250,000 will rack in over $3.5m every month and i can't see EQ2 or WoW doing any less then that myself  and holding that number for at least a 1 year.

If both hit 500,000 subs for over a year i will not be the least suprised and thats $7.5m x12= $90m per year.

Thats why mmorpg are the "gold mine" not because of inital sells but the monthly fees.
