World War Two Real Time Strategy MMO

I thought of an idea for an mmo and wanted too see what others that about it.

The game would take place during World War II and would be set in a persistant world.  A player would be given a platoon or company size group to setup as they choose.  For example, for those who love infantry the could choose between riflemen, assault troops, light machine guns and so on.   While those who favor the heavy armor can create a tank platoon or artillery.  Each troop or tank crew would be given attributes such as bravery, fear, resistance and depending on their experience they gain points that would make them a better marksmen, scout, or more resistance in times of crisis.

The world would consist of the entire European theater with base camps and headquarters placed strategically as victory points.  You would also have to control railways, airfields and ports to maintain supplies.  Each individual would choose a side and work with others to control these points until victory is achieved.  Units could recieve citations for participating in large scale battles, or defending a town.  If you lose you men, you need to recruit new ones.

Just a thought,

John

You should look up battleground europe, all player control based...

Wow I like this idea a lot. I would love an mmo like that. I'd definitely control a sniper team.

Soldiers : Heroes of world war 2 comes to mind. With lots of micro managment, and the ability to take complete control of individual soldiers and tanks. I would sure play it.

Just cause, they are working on a new title ¨witch is in multiplayer beta atm.

    A well, i'm with ya

Well, Empires total war just came out today, so In about two years we will probably see a WWI or WWII total war game coming out. If SEGA choose to make it an mmorpg or a online RPG/Tactical battle game I would probably not mind. Id like to see something like that in the industry happen. I just don't want it to have "Kill 200 Taliban" or Take out 150 Resistance members as my quests...

I haven't fully grasped the modell for ww2 online. But a "staff" of generals that issue out orders like, take that town or hold that bridge.

This is a really good idea.  I would love to see a mmorpg from the Total War series.

    PBBG List.

If you had control over  every little thing they did like Soldiers : Heroes of world war 2 and could interact with eveything  like in that game as well.

I agree a persistant  ww2 mmorts game would be fun and I would try it out.  The difference would be how connected you feel to your little squad as opposed to a generic standard ww2 rts. I got really attached to my soldiers in the "xxxx of war" games since you could change each of their clothes and hop in/use any vehicle/weapon you came across.
