So, the game that most (including myself) thought would never actually release has 'released', finally. How is it? I haven't played it. I have, however, read a ton of negative posts about 1) account creation, 2) billing, 3) technical issues (CTD's), etc.,... I'm not going to say that those issues aren't important (because they are), but they are somewhat 'normal', imho.
How is the gameplay? Is it the earth-shattering, life-evolving, MMORPG-landscape changing game that we were all told it would be? Or, is it still too early to tell if this game is 'great' or 'just another new game you'll play for 30-90 days before leaving'?

I have played it for two months. And its the first time since SWG i have been seriously hooked on a MMO.
WoW, LOTRO, AoC, WAR did just pass me without me even looking twice because i thought the gameplay looked horrible. Darkfall is not perfect, but if you want FFAPvP, sandbox gameplay, mounted combat, naval combat and no clesses and levels.....you should try DF. Seriously.
And dont listen to the ones that havent tryed it.
Edit:
This is one of my favourite DF videos, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMNXafzbazQ&feature=related
Nothing special really, just some people putting a small raft into the water and sails off. No quest involved, just pure lust to see what will happen! A bunch of friends fooling around as they sail! And for me, that shows the potential for darkfall. Think when they have a big war ship with 50 people on it! lol
If you like PvP, mmo's in a fantasy setting and a sandbox style game, I would be willing to bet that you will find Darkfall a great game.
If you absolutely do not like PvP, you may get frustrated, very quickly and wish that the devs would make a non-FFA pvp server, leaving the sandbox and the rest.
Of course, as of right now, I doubt the devs would even consider such a request. (and I hope they never do... )
Hi OP
Im at work, else i wouldnt have time to respond to ur question. This game is so great. I was hooked right away...i have not been hooked to a game in ages...AGES!!! The atmosphere are thick, u will love it...exploring is so cool, u can see that the devs have been working 8-9 years on this game. Fantasic world, with free PVP, do not trust anyone. Not even ur own race....they can have high + reputation and dont care if they lose a little just to take ur 4-5 hours of farming away from you. I dont recommend to go red as soon u enter the game. U will lose -8 point rep if u kill an allied race. U will gain +2 points for killing an enemy race and +2 points if u also finish him off with a "gank" skill. Max is +100 in rep. Its important to know this system I have ganked many farmers from my own race...because i have pretty high rep. Man just buy it go see for urself...its the greatest game ever.
only ctd issue i have had its a few people with 8800 series cards have them and if i alt tab to much
server and client is actully pretty stable game is decent needs work tho
If you miss waking up in the morning and the first thing you think of is an mmo, go try darkfall..
I did that to me as the first game since uo.
its not terrible like trolls say its just far from the "greatest game to come out in ages". Not putting people down because frankly everyone is entitled to their own opinions on games. If your down with full loot pvp then go for it.
i have played for about 6 weeks now, including beta.
despite a very flaky launch, i rate the actual game as in very good shape for a released MMO, better than AoC and WAR for stability, bugginess & completeness. this is just my opnion based on having played all 3 games. of course, like any freshly released MMO, there are plenty of things that could be improved, but the base game IMO, is great.
to me, DF is the best PVP MMO around atm. even with only 6 weeks playtime i can see a great deal of potential to become a PVP classic. there is a lot of good quality opponents, and a lot of good quality spontaneous GvG PVP going on on a nightly basis.
Just an FYI for daarco... He has NOT played the Release version of DarkFall.

No i havent! And i have stated that many times in todays posta. I did even whine whine on the "Who got a account last night" thread.
But two months in beta, and i hope the game is not worse now : )
So your point beeing....

Actually some who have played have stated exactly that. (The posts don't last long on the official forums... but they are there).
Some who have played since Release have said it was much more stable during Beta. (These kinds of posts are pretty easy to find. I sincerely doubt you haven't seen them).
My point was is that in your response to the OP you made a lot of statements that might be better left for those who are currently playing the Release version.
That is all.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with the above sentiment that beta was more stable. I've been playing for about 6 weeks now and there is no noticeable difference in sever stability. It's rock solid.
I have not played the game, however, I do plan on purchasing it later on. This may not be the best place to ask for objective opinions as it is rampant with fanbois and trolls.
One thing I would recommend is going to YouTube and searching for the user AngelBann. I think their videos show how much (in my opinion) the game can be, just watching it seems pretty awsome to me. If you like the way those videos look, go for it, if you don't you can try some other sources of information.
If searching for the user doesn't work the video I most liked is called "Darkfall Online, Quick look 2"'

It's a big PVP arena, if you like that.... go for it.
As a sandbox game is very lacking, not much to do besides PVP and exploring a too empty world.
The game is not good. Purchase at your own risk. Buyer beware.
I have many friends ingame right now, and they say its become better since beta. And i trust them more then some person just throwing out some opinions about how it is.
You really can't state it better than this.
I personally haven't played yet, but this statement here, gets me excited to play.
yep. still have not had a single crash in WEEKS, including beta. NOT ONE.
That's perfectly fine. That is where I get my information as well.
I just thought for this thread that it should be pointed out for the OP that you were not in fact basing your information on a first-hand Release experience... that is all.
Yes, I realize you have pointed out in other threads you are not currently playing... but the OP might not necessarily know that.
Anyway... sorry if I upset anyone. That wasn't the intent. Carry on.
Here it is ( "Darkfall Online, Quick look 2")
It's alright, the game is totally geared for gangs though. Don't go anywhere solo is kind of a drag for people not in long-established clans.

Yeah, you are right. Maybe i should leave this thread for the ones with first hand experience instead. I think the OP deserves it : )
With all the trolls and haters here always trying to pick a fight its easy to get in a "defensive mode". I wil also apology. This is no way a Darkfall payer should behave!

Thanks, I can't post links because my campus blocks you tube so I use a proxy resulting in a stupidly long probably broken link for other people. I appreciate it

There are lot of issues with preorde ,account management , still crappy communication by devs etc.
But the game itself is damn good.Full loot pvp changes the dynamics of the game
The client has never crashed not even once .I have a steady connection at 150 ms no problems even if there are 50 to 60 people in the same area
The landscape is huge it does take time to get location to location.mobs are sparse altoughthe AI is not dumb it reacts very nicely to what you do
the best part is PVP u always have to watch your back always.
There are people who jump in front of you so u hit them accidentely and change your alignment.
Today I saw a new one 2 friends started a fight , 1 turned grey so I went to kill him every time i tried the othr blue guy used to jump in front of my attack , they wantd me to accidentely turn grey so they could kill me without penalties
Also you find some tim players hiding on top of the trees ( 1 would be me ) attcking thru leaves and it takes a while to figure outwhere they are from
the crafting system is in depth but expensive at the moment.
You ever know the guy next to u how strong he is tillu pick up a fight,he could be a good crafter with the best of armors to deter u but his fighting skills could be crap or he would b but naked but has maxd out on fighting skills and will hand your arse back to u
try thegame for yourself and decide
i find this perplexing: why are you posting this crap when you admit yourself you haven't played the game, nor will be? agenda much?
I honestly enjoy the game quite a bit, it has a really new feel to it. Not to seem like a fanboi, but when I was being chased down by this human with a really nice hammer, I screamed "RUN FASTER! NO!" like a little girl as I got ganked. I really haven't done that in an mmo since FFXI where I was running away from crabs on my way to do my BST heroic class quest. So the game....alotta fun.
The characters and some animations though are piss poor, if you are a graphics whore, there will be so much here that annoys the hell out of you.
Also there seem to be some unfinished things in the game, like not all the strings are tied up. When you hover over orcs it returns "r_orcmale description", pretty goofy.
Crafting and trading are really amazing, one of the aspects driving that ideal is that items from players take so much less money and mats than what you would spend at a vendor. To explain there are people selling whole chain sets for 80g, while the vendor has a chain chestpiece for 85g. I can get an even lower price if I bring in a few mats for the guy.
Ganking isn't rampant, if you see someone of the other faction, they are going to kill you or run away, or call buddies, that's just people being people, but I have never really been killed by anyone of my own faction, infact I have more people help me than try and hurt me.

Wow that jumping in front of people thing sounds pretty lame. Does that happen a lot?
