Blizzard's new MMO will be Marvel Universe Online

The name might change but it will be in the Marvel Universe. There are no facts behind this, just my guess.

I agree. It would suck as bad as WOW and Marvel deserves better than that.

When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

Why would blizzard pay a license fee when it has a license to print money with its own intellectual property.

    Try again. Thanks.

Too bad the original Marvel MMO was cancelled.

    Hmz, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Universe_Online:

Marvel Universe Online was the previous working title of Champions Online. The MMO game was developed by Cryptic Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios exclusively for Microsoft Windows Vista and Xbox 360 platforms using a license from Marvel.

IGN stated that Marvel Universe Online would take history from 60 years of Marvel Comics as well as integrate current events in the comic books for the next five to ten years.

However, the project was changed on Feb. 11, 2008 due to what a Microsoft spokesperson referred to as "an inability to compete" with the current MMO marketplace. Less than a week later, Cryptic Studios announced that development would continue using a new IP license of The Champions (Hero Universe), a superhero-based role playing game.

It wouldnt be funny.. it would irritate the blizzard fans.

Starcraft and diablo left, for blizzard to turn a franchise that isnt one of them into their next mmo, would be a slap in the face.

Activision has the license for Marvel IPs till 2017 so Blizzard wouldn't have to pay for a license.

"An Inability To Compete" has been generally translated to mean that someone on either the Microsoft or Marvel side of the tracks, or quite possibly both of them, got cold feet.  Cryptic found a new dance partner in the Champions series, and went with that.

As for the topic at hand, Blizzard is not, never has been, and never will, make a Marvel universe game.  There is no justification for it that makes any sort of reasonable sense.

Whatever it is, I sure hope it ends up taking a different path than WoW and not just using one of their other IPs and making a WoW-esque game out of it.

I'll eat my shorts if that turns out to be true.

I'd rather have a Diablo mmorpg, personally. They might breathe some fresh life into the series with D3 and have a ton of box sales to truly prepare the world for the Diablo universe with mmorpg sauce.

I'd rather see Warhammer 40K done right, nothing like WAR.

Have to admit Blizzard making a Marvel MMO would be intersting but im still betting on Starcraft .  I am hoping for something original ( once upon a time they used to make original ips!) but I doubt it. Heck if they do make a SC MMO they will get at least 10 million people from South Korea alone!

DOAC is still the MMO I judge other games by, My first and still my favorite.
