Doesn't seem Blizzard was ready for the Friday Rush....

The Blizzard servers are burried right now. Everyone is getting out from school and work and the server is backed up making the game almost unplayable, and very deffinitely unenjoyable. I have been looking forward to the WoW release and am happy that they pushed it back now. They really need to work on the servers. I am just surprised that they have done 2 stress tests already. From everythign I have read the stres tests went fine. They really need to rework how they STRESS the system in future. This is probably a very eye opening experience for them at Blizzard right now.

The game stops for about 30secs every time you perform an action that querries teh server. Crafting, Looting and sometimes in battles, but I am not quite sure why. It is sporadic lag durring the battles (I and many others have gotten killed in battles because of this not fun). I just hope that they can fix this problem so I can get back to testing. I figure by staying logged in right now I am just adding to the prolem.

If anyone has any info pertainign to this let me know. I am interested if teh problem is somethign differen than what I have assumed and what they are doing to fix it.

<<EDIT>>

I found a link on the Blizzard forums: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=571661&p=1&tmp=1#post571661 15 pages of posts about the same thing, but no response yet. They deffinitely know it is going on lets just hope they can fix it soon.

This is good that it's happening in open beta. SWG did this the entire first day, and much of the first week...... Hopefully they can get most of this resolved before launch - they have over a week.

Didn't happen with EQII and they didn't even have an open beta.  My hat goes off to the SOE team.  Job well done.

well it still is understable that WoW has to deal with these troubles, everybody wants to get into it and imo more then those who wanted to get into EQ II. I don't even remeber EQII having an open beta anyways so offcourse EQ2 wouldn't have had these troubles. there are always more people downloading&playing a FREE game then one for wich you need to pay ::::24::

I'd wich to see a list with the bandwith usage this weekend on their servers ::::04::

I think the main problem is that the open beta is open for everyone of every corner of the world and that is not what for the server are made. Atleast, blizzard let poeple from europa of the server, maybe as a test or just a mistake (either way i like it /;))

www.worldofwarcraft.com is reporting 500,000 OB signups.. no wonder the servers are laggy.

    Yeah, I'd do Betty....
But I'd be thinking about Wilma.

    First stop assuming

Secondly people need to cut Blizzard some slack, they have 500,000 people on there servers and its only 4 days into this the last and finial stress test....Give them some time and some patience or just dont play it.. Im sick of seeing the "LAAAAGG" or "OMG I HATE THIS LAG" post ingame... If you cant deal with it go away since I cant ignore everone...

What did you expect? this is the first weekend of the open beta. give them some time to work this out.

not every thing you do in life will be right in the first attempt.

Sometimes you fall flat. I still think this is a good game even with all the lagg.

So relax a little people image

lol... please. You are such an idiot it makes me laugh from the very very core of my being.

Do NOT compare WoW to EQ2 in this way ever again. You make yourself look like a moron.

WoW is a much much much more popular game than EQ2. MUCH MUCH MUCH more popular. WoW has 500,000 OB signups and most of those people have been playing for the last week. EQ2 will never reach that number. Ever. EQ2 will be lucky if they get 250,000 accounts to sign on in a week, nevermind 500,000. WoW is expected to sell over 2 million copies in the first year... possibly alot more. EQ2 will probably sell 250,000... its just not nearly as massive a game.

    EQ2 has 11 servers.

    WoW has over 40.

    Get a clue, kid.

Ya I'm playing BETA right now and am tired of people complaining about BETA. Hmmm it seems Blizzard posted in their forums they are testing the servers in overload in their BETA to make sure they can fix any problems before release. Either you are new at this or you are just taking the opprotunity to to push EQ2. Played EQ2 and it did not have an open beta at all, at leat Blizzard has the gut to test their servers before release and let people in, EQ2 didn't even try. Besides Blizzard is making it clear they did this on purpose to test their servers capacities, they aren't trying to hide anything, also there will be more servers on release. It's BETA this is what it's supossed to be about not a romp in the park. BETA BETA BETA...please knock it off this is getting so old.

I don't care if it is open beta or not. This will be one of my only chances to play WoW beta, and it's been down all damn night long so far. I can't even get in. I have died so many times today because of lag. Hopefully they can fix this ASAP.

WoW is free. EQ2 servers can hold more than WoW. WoW is free. And EQ2 has 17 servers at last check. WoW is free.

And I'll bet you EQ2 sells about the same, or more, than WoW(in NA/Euro sales).

    1) EQ2 came out first.

    2) EQ2 has spent millions on advertising.

So.. now that SOE finally has a smooth release, you come up with another excuse?

I laugh when people try to compare EQ2 to WOW now as far as performance and the amount of Popularity... And I quote from SOE "More than 100,000 people have already pre-ordered EverQuest II in hopes of being among the first to experience this massive gaming phenomenon"

!00k is that it? Thats laughable for a sequel to arugable the most famous MMORPG of all time to date....100k lmfao thats a total that FFXI beat COH beat hell I think even that crappy Horrizons beat...Thats just the preorders if you think another 100k went out and bought it at the store the day off your fooling yourself....If anything they went out and bought Halo2.

Thats why they had a smooth launch, people have given up on SOE its very evident in there numbers.. Maybe it had something to do with the last few horrible expansions of EQ, mabye it was due to the hack/exploit fest and decisions that affects Panetside, or maybe its due to the utter horrible mistake that was SWG, or maybe its all of those choices that have left people feeling that SOE just has no clue..

Let 100k people play WOW right now, and you would'nt notice a thing as far as lag.. Also I will pat Blizzard on the back for having the gonads to even have a Beta let alone no NDA....

BTW how was the EQ2 Open Beta? Did they have any lag problems?     Oh thats right they didnt have a Open Beta....

They aren't running these servers at optical speeds atm, strictly to 'stress test'. the lag we see, has been inflicted on purpose, it shows them exactly what they need, and what they don't need. If they went about using enormous servers from the start, they possibly could be losing a ton of money supporting server power that isn't necessary.

    So, quit complaining about lag.

No way EQ2 sells the same as WoW in NA. Not gonna happen... WoW will squish EQ2 into tiny little bits.
